Nice job! You can work with the thicker material without getting the cracking if you steam the boards before lamination. I'm no expert at this, but a friend in college built an Alvar Aalto style bent wood chair doing this. That being said, building a steam chamber for the wood is a whole project in itself...
Yeah, I looked into steam bending and might give it a shot on another project I have coming up. Much smaller so I might be able to get the chamber built. I'll also try and boil the piece of wood a bit to see I that will give similar results.
When painting plywood or wood, pros sand prime, sand prime, and sand prime to give a clean surface to paint. I was looking at one of you white tops with grain showing. You can go back.😅
