Spent 8 years in Al Ain before coming back to care for family in the states. It's a great town with lots of interesting things to do outdoors when it's not too hot. Be sure to check out the cycle track them put in north of town. Very beautiful. I miss that loop lol.

Use some curtains over-the windows and balcony door, that will stop the sound waves from hitting the walls and limit echo

Hi, I'm Irish and have just been appointed to AAESS in Al Ain, due to start in August 2022. I'm most definitely not a new teacher...been teaching 38 years at home, but am looking forward to living the dream and bringing my partner out there too. She is also looking forward to the new start for both of us. Is it easy to settle in? Thank you for your Videos.... Most helpful. John

Hi John - for some the cultural differences can be a shock.. there’s things you can and can’t do here. But as long as you’re happy and able to adjust to that you’ll love it! Lovely weather, great lifestyle, Dubai and AD on your doorstep, many great teacher benefits, new 4.5 day working week. But honestly you’ll have to come and see for yourself! Congratulations on your new job too!

Hi John, I have an interview for AAESS coming up, I was wondering how is it teaching there, also did you manage to settle in okay? Thanks for any advice you can provide

@@Qari256 sorry just seeing this now. I hope you got on well at Interview. I enjoy living here. Al Ain has a lovely vibe and a laid back atmosphere. It's a homely place to live. I've had a good but busy year in AAESS. It's pretty much nonstop but the kids are very nice, with none of the problems you would have at home. Once you get to know the staff, everyone is there to help and as long as you do your work, there will be no hassle. I hope that helps a bit. Good luck with everything.

How long did it take to get your certificates attested by the FCO and the UAE embassy?
@TheNomadicTeacher

The attestation probably took a few weeks in total… I sent them off in the post and they were then re delivered with stamps etc.
@ماشييابنيادمين
How did you get that job, where did you find the job post?

I applied for the position online through TES and was offered the role after a 3 stage interview.

I have an interview for AAESS this month, I'm a new teacher currently in my NQT year. Would appreciate any tips!

Congratulations! Tips: be yourself, when answering questions try to reference your experience.. for instance when have you shown outstanding practice, what did that look like.. behaviour management - what have you used before that has worked well. If something didn’t work, what did you do about it. Ask questions back - show you’re invested and want the right school school for you.

Does that mean you’ll be doing your 2nd year of ECT at AAESS or have you fully completed your induction. Also how was your interview?

Hello , I live in dubai and i have offer for a school in Al Ain . I noticed I have tattoo in the same spot as you . Did they ask you to cover it ? 4 years I didn’t have any issue except my first year the school is private. Thank you

They’re fine with me having tattoos, but they generally want them covered. I suppose it’s up to the school, so I’d check with them.
