So awesome to see such amazing success on a first try. That must be a really great feeling. Thanks for sharing your hard work again. Perfection as always.
@@scaleffect thanks Scale but I wouldn’t call it perfection. There are a few things I would do differently next time, like more oils by the cockpit and oil paint rendering.
For acrylics blending I found it is much easier to make it when base is still slightly wet: not fresh-wet, but still a bit satinish/semi-matt. This way new strokes blend in base layer pretty well and natural.
Love the work! I’m not partial to the 109 but did an F-4 in Hungarian winter markings some years back, with the Fine Molds kit in 1/72. Love the chipping, too. To keep it Canadian, those chips better be ketchup or all dressed!
Humpty Dumpty approves this chippy message. PS We've got ketchup and all-dressed chips right here in coastal New Hampshire. And all through Maine too. HD of course.
Brilliant dude!! Im the same with chipping theres something soothing about it!😁 with the carrier film use some white spirits over it then use a cotton bud and rub it to remove it! You will fined more successfully this. Im a massive eduard fan boy and was abit miffed with these decals but once you get that film of it looks amazing but really shouldnt be such a faff but using white spirits generally works well
That looks great. The Profipacks are excellent; just wrapping up their Spitfire VIII kit. I tried the black CA on the joints again and it worked well. As for your acrylic blending query; a wet palette is a big help. Wet blending as explained by another post is the technique. And sometimes a little help from glazing medium too. Im no expert, but able to do okay, especially on my people.
Great job as always! Love the newer Eduard kits......except for those decals. I've had varying success peeling those decals. Some models they work great but others they seem to peel half the decal off even though I have used the same brand paint, clear coat, setting solutions and drying time for my models. Those Eduard profi packs are expensive, especially in Canada. Eduard should be including Cartograph decals in their profi packs and leave their in house decals to their week-end editions.
Great build fella! I built a winterised BF-109 from the 1/48 Zvezda kit a few years ago. If you want to see my version, it's featured on my channel's banner.
Blend acrylic with a medium, not a Halloween type session, but a specific fluid, you can use dish wash liquid in your brush clean jar to varying success I’ve found, Vallejo and all major brands have their own products so see what works for you. A problem I cannot get past is the Tamiya liquid fluid glue and making it to ever work, is it too old, or am I not using it correctly? On videos people happily put the tiniest spot and it glues like CA (which is excellent at gluing my skin, it’s actual designed purpose to repair wounds sustained on battlefields) but seldom anything else! The less viscose liquid glue is better.
Nice job Robbie, your white paint cover looks excellent & “temporary”., like it was in real life. In regard to your opening monologue, the only thing missing about Canadians you didn’t mention was using the infamous“A?”.
For acrylic blending, I use a 3 color system. A dark, base and highlight. I then mix the paints together (dark, dark+ base, base, base+ highlight, and highlight) so I have a gradient of 5 colors. I start with the darkest colors, then paint everything with the dark+base everywhere but the deepest shadows, and continue the process with all the colors, painting less and less of the object I’m painting. I keep the paints pretty thin and slowly build it up over a few layers. I find this gives me lots of control and a harmonious result. Hopefully that makes sense, comment if it does not and I will try to explain/ clarify things!
