I love your first writing vlog ^^ you made so much progress! I also feel you when you said you daydreamed the story for three years. That is how I basically start a story 🤣

Rock on! You've joined the club out here in the online nuthouse and you're going to have fun. :) (But also protect yourself. Be properly paranoid about sharing details, because again, this IS the internet.) I tend to get caught in a similar loop during the outline stage of projects, rewriting and rewriting until a Tolkien-tier world has been built for it without a single paragraph of the book being typed. And honestly, you want the wiffle-waffle to happen more on an outline than on a draft. For ways to create stylistic or thematic differences during dual POV, and to intercut with wit and purpose between them, my recommendation if you ever get stuck is the Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud. Not only are they some of the funniest books ever written, their handling of POV is beyond clever and worthy of study by newer writers. The practice of reading a book that matches your project during the process is (in my opinion) a mixed bag. Similar plots in another book don't necessarily help you. What matters is the execution of craft you can glean from other authors, regardless of plot, genre or tone. Cheers to the comfort of cloudy or rainy days. The weather in Ontario is dropping into proper autumn cold, so tonight was my first night putting on what I've dubbed "the sweater of thought". Many years ago, when I told my main professor in college about my perfectionism, he told me "there's no such thing as perfectionism". Much later I realized he's one of the many assholes who gets hung up on the word 'perfect' and refuses to grasp that perfection itself is NOT the goal of perfectionists, but the pursuit of perfection pushing our work to its best result under the given circumstances. But I've never been a teacher, so what do I know? As the old saying goes: those who can't teach, do. Hope you got through September alright.

I’m with you on the continuous editing loop 😅 I think a bit of editing is good, esp if it’s more of a discovery draft and you’re still finding the character voices and arcs. I think it’s a lot better to make fundamental changes and move forward from there vs keeping the edits in mind in your head and having those potential changes not work out in the end!

re-writing over and over again is so real haha! writing is such a private passion for me as well but tbh going public with my writing vlogs has made me more accountable, and I met other authortubers who are all so supportive. Your novel sounds so exciting to write and you're so valid for not sharing anything about your novel! That sounds like a scary experience tbh~ Best of luck with draft 1! You got this!!

hi kathryn! this got randomly recommended to me on my feed, and i enjoyed it! if you don't mind, can you share more about the writing process? is your novel something you're finishing on your own then pitching to a publishing house or are you planning to self-publish? hope you have a lovely day

5:20 I've noticed that when I'm writing a lot or coming a up a lot of new ideas...I'm more likely to fall into a reading slump. Also listening to rain ambience when its raining outside is so funny. Also that's TERRIBLE that someone stole your idea!! That's horrible. How do you deal with being able to trust a book coach as well? I'm a little scared for someone to just take my ideas too. I have NO winter friends excluding a long distance who only does script writing, a completely different format
