Lumintop tool aa is currently at 3.0 I carry this light the most as it has a simple UI, small size and great output. The pocket clip is still horrible though. Also, has the lighted tail switch. I understand some people hate it but in my experience its an imperceptible amount of additional drain. Also thanks hugely for all the links. I know that took some time and I appreciate your time and effort for that. I've been passively intrested in reylight mini pineapple for awhile but based on your recommendation ive got my eyes on an anodized beauty that i think im going to get sometime in the near future!
I played usher at the Air and Space Museum yesterday after a planetarium light failure with my RovyVon that I bought on MaxLvl's recommendation. This is a dream scenario for an EDC guy.
Dude, check this out. The Lumintop EDC01 (the AAA model) can run a 10440 lithium ion battery. Three output modes, low medium, high, with the high end putting out about 600 lumens. I have one I’ve been using for over a year with the 10440 battery and she’s still going strong.
@@lucas_nto Meh my I3E EOS uses a 10440. I have one on each keychain. (the ones that WORK with 10440.. some don't , i haven't figured out why. It is the body for some reason)
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these torches. You've given me a couple of ideas. I do have a slightly higher opinion of a couple of the flashlights than you, but that's OK. (P16, IF23, Baton Turbo). I was curious about the lack of Wuben. Did you have a bad experience there?
@@maxlvledc I think they have two 14500 batteries, and you have to select the one with USB-C when you order it. Either way cool to see such a big collection of lights
@@xtanwolff yeah the proprietary charging is terrible but literally every other apsect of the light is phenomenal, and you don't have to use the charging... you can use a usb-c 14500...
I appreciate the video. I admit I’m a streamlight fanboy but I’ve used them for over 20 years in very demanding environments. I once was forced to use one to chip out ice from a locked up wheel well in -30 degree weather and I still use that light every now and then till this day. I stick to primary battery lights as well because I am constantly using my light and can’t afford down time for recharging but I see the use. I agree the microstream usb is pretty bad and almost never use mine. Thanks for the vid!
Great collection! I agree with almost everything, even with trying to avoid flashlights with weird or proprietary connections. BUT, Skilhunt for instance make great flashlights, and if you loose the connector, you can always charge the battery in a standard charger. It's just a flashlight without USB-C (which might sound bad but there are no rubber caps either). I wouldn't discard such a great brand because of this. Imalent on the other hand has some flashlights like the LD70 with a weird connector and you cannot open the flashlight to charge the battery outside.
I have a question about the wurkkos fc12 when I bought it I maybe had it for about 2-3 months hardly used it I charged it max left it in my car used it re charged it and it didn’t work anymore
it does happen sometimes to me too, mainly after i use the buttons alot in a short period of time, it just stops reacting to anything. I need to remove batery for a minute or two, than it is fine again.
I can’t believe I didn’t see a lumintop frog! Great video man and I 100 percent agree I would love to see an OLIGHT Arkfeld ultra MINI! the original Arkfelds were a great size as well.
I'm looking at the Wuben L1 Dual as a do-all EDC/Large Flashlight. I especially like the choice of color-friendly Nichia and full-blast LEDs. But that Olight Arkfeld Ultra looks pretty good. Thanks again. 😊
The FC12 is an absolutely fantastic light, but it has a bug: when in low mode sometimes it doesn't turn on and needs to be reset by pressing the side switch for 5 seconds. (I personally experienced this bug). Whis they fixed it since it has been known for a while Anyway, great video
All true... sometimes you can also reset by pressing 5 times. Otherwise, battery removal works every time. But 18350 tube and warrior mini clip still makes this one of my favorite thrower lights to carry.
@@brandonlee8582 while I still prefer the FC12 I think the convoy s6 (which I have) is a good choice for a small thrower. The UI isn't as good as the FC12, but it's lighter and even cheaper.
On the coast slayer, one button is for a pre saved mode and the other cycles through modes so you can save the high setting. Just have to read the instructions.
Great video and collection, glad to see the RovyVon lights I own come in on the top! I’m waiting on my Arkfeld Ultra to come in and glad to see where it ranked as well!
It’s funny 🤔, I’m sitting here watching this great 1-hour video about flashlights (super entertaining and informative as always! 👍), but I still can’t find something that matches my needs. I’m currently using the Wurkkos FC11 with 1,300 lumens, about 144 meters of range, and a color temperature around 4,000K with a CRI of 90. The size is perfect for the pocket, the waterproofing (IPX-7) is good, and I love that you can swap out the battery 🔋. BUT I really wish it had a more focused beam - somewhere around 56,000 cd for a longer throw, but keeping the 1,300 lumens. I wouldn’t mind more lumens, but the beam pattern is the priority. I’d also prefer longer battery life over more brightness, as 1,300 lumens is enough for me. Also, I’d love an improved button and handling of the UI. A rotating head would be nice for work situations too, but that’s secondary. Any recommendations that fit these specs?❤
@@maxlvledc Thank you for taking the time to help me. I’ll make sure to check out the flashlight. Your video always gives a great overview, saves me a lot of time, and helps me make better decisions. I really appreciate everything you do.
I just ordered the fc11c the other day ($21 with a battery on wurkkos' site). I was looking to do the opposite as you. I currently carry a pokelit most days and have a Fenix tk16 v2 that I got as a gift a couple years ago. The tk16 is a monster and while a little chunky, does work in a pocket. And the tail cap button on the pokelit is gross feeling, great light though. I wanted something "in-between". Small enough to carry everyday and sort of a pleasing, usable light for my daily situations. I guess just a "boring" every day light. So I landed on the fc11c. Plus, if I need a throwy light, the Fenix is really something special to have in your pocket.
@@robertmorano2372 Thank you so much! It’s funny, the more you dive into the details, the more specific your requirements become, and it gets harder to find something that meets them. There are thousands of great flashlights, but somehow you end up almost blinded by all the options.
@@pallepirat I know what you mean. I'll be intrigued by a certain feature just because it sounds cool. Then go "wait a minute, I never had a use for that in 42 years of living". Learning experience😂 stay focused.
2 things for me: must have tail switch, and pressing that tail switch MUST activate either turbo or strobe (being over 10,000CD and 1000Lm is also a plus)
@@maxlvledc What is the purpose of that, in particular? Is tactical code for self defense blinding weapon? That seems to be the implication but I've never seen it states explicitly.
@@LarryGarfieldCrell The definition of the word tactical refers to military focused gear, therefore the flashlights must be easier to access on the Turbo settings and not have any complicated UI to avoid turning the light on lower settings by accident. Oxford definition of the word Tactial: "relating to or constituting actions carefully planned to gain a specific military end".
Can't believe you didn't rate the Wurkkos HD11 higher... If we're talkin versatility, there's not much quality competition (yet)... I have the old nitecore MT21C, the Wuben L1, and Arkfeld Flex. All great swivel head work lights... but all the features of the HD11 just raises the bar IMO.
No ThruNite Ti2 in your keychain ranking? It's my favourite by far. It uses a single AAA which lasts pretty much forever and means you can stash some more if you're going somewhere with minimal electricity for a few days. Also the brightest I've personally tried so far (though I hear the nitecore are brighter).
I gotta disagree with the Olight Baton 3 Pro not being as good as the 3 Pro Max. It's smaller, lighter, has the timer feature. The Pro Max only has 5200CD where the Pro has over 7000CD. I think that's enough to make it a better carry.
Olight Arkfeld pro and Warrior mini 3 will always be my edc, something about them just makes them perfect to me. If/when the Arkfeld Ultra gos on sale again I'll probably grab one of them. I ended up getting the loop SK03 and while it is cool I don't think it's anything special. I will give it one thing however, it is far easier to give to someone and they will almost always be able to use both functions without instructions. Compared that to a Rovyvon A8 or A28, witch might be one of the more complex lights with a similar functionality. Probably going to return it because I am the only one who would need side LEDs and I have a A8 and A28.
You started with the best keychain flashlight ever. No modes, no accidental activation in the pocket, wallet or purse (in my mom's case). IMini2 is probably the only flashlight that win with no doubt its category. Edit: in my country most people live in apartments buildings, so not being waterproof does not matter at all for a keychain light. And houses frontdoors always have eaves.
This was great! Watched it twice! I'd be curious to hear how your assessment of some of these lights has changed since your initial review. I thought you liked some of these more than it seems you do, particularly some of the Olights. I value your opinion, so it's helpful to get your longer-term perspective.
Great video really helps someone understand where they might want to spend their money. Just a thought since you have the Olight mini 3 in best ATM, you should do a side by side of the Olight Warrior 3 mini vs the Sofrin Sp31 v3. I’ve got both and I actually think the Sofrin is the better light. Brightness is nearly identical at turbo, I think the beam profile is better, I prefer it’s moon mode, doesn’t get as hot as fast, doesn’t step down as quickly, and has usb c charging. I’d be very interested to see your take on it.
@@maxlvledc sp31 v3 is only a little longer maybe 5-6mm. All other dimensions are pretty much the same. TIR lens for both and both are regulated. Olight could be argued it has a better ui, but I find the simplicity of the Sofrin kind of nice.
I would disagree with your placement of MH12 pro, it's a strictly tactical/self-defense flashlight and heat dissipation is really not an issue when you're just doing bursts. Also great as a compliment to a headlamp to cover both close and far distances. I've used it pretty heavily outdoors in hot summer and it only once got hot enough for me to not gorilla grip it lol. Tbh I don't know what you would need such a huge throw for over a minute unless you're hunting or messing around like me.
It is NOT a tactical flashlight. Otherwise I would give it a pass. In order for it to be a Tactical light..pressing the tail must ALWAYS go to either strobe or Turbo. As it sits, if you are in low the last time you use it and forget to swap, your in trouble. Many other lights do this better.
@@maxlvledc No? MH12 pro's tailcap ALWAYS goes to turbo no matter when you press it, it's the truest tactical light there is. Maybe you've got some sort of prototype or you're just confused. You can only access low by cylcing from turbo or moonlight (press tailcap and sideswitch at once for instant moonlight)
Very informative video. I really appreciate you going through and sharing your feedback on these lights. The only suggestion I have is that it would be very nice if someone would invest the time to create a spreadsheet with all these flashlights separated into the different categories with the links to the Amazon pages to make it easier to look up the specs, etc. for those interested in making a purchase.
What!!! Skipping the reylight is like skipping a mercedes and keeping the ford. Sometimes its not about the wizz bang sometimes its about the enjoyment of the machine
@@maxlvledc sorry watching in my lunch break so can only do a bit at a time. Great channel by the way. Edit full apologies. Now back home spotted you redeemed yourself with the second reylight. Have the stonewashed which has been buffed on the wheel giving a vintage look and feel. Worth the exercise. Btw ts10 max 18650 incoming. Side note. In the UK to skip it means is to throw it in the trash. (8yrd builders skip) Just realised you didn't mean to trash it
Fascinating. I am the exact opposite. If the battery is built-in, I probably won't want it. It's just another point of failure. I have 2 i3T and one i5T flashlights distributed between two kits and one shirt pocket, and they're great. (I also have a Diffuser in my first aid kit, but since that uses a removable rechargeable battery, it gets a pass.)
I am a home inspector. Always looking under sinks, attics and crawlspaces. Gotta have the clip that will go on a hat bill. What light do you recommend? Wanna sell one you're getting rid of? Good video as always.
There is one reason to buy the Baton 3 pro. It comes in purple. My nitecore SRT7GT is an excellent backup light at work when someone else requires my Arkfeld Pro. The standby position on the ring is a godsend for when the button gets bumped on. Didn't see the Sofirn IF24 or the newish Olight Prowess?
Granmar issues aside, these categorirs are a mess. You were a teacher? Maybe some English lessons are in order for you. Take everything Nightcore, Acebeam, Sofirn, Fenix, Lumintop, Wurkkos, Nebo, Thrunite, Surefire, Nextorch, Zebra, Emisar, Convoy, Manker, Skilhunt, Streamlight, Maglight, Ledlenser, Wuben, etc, and throw them in the trash. Most of the Rovyvons you listed were categorized correctly. Olight has some top tier offerings, but still misses the mark by a wide margin. Coast has some second-rate flashlights.
