Nice. The VP comes in metal, and so does the Falcon. Other metal pens you might like are: Waterman Hemisphere, Diplomat Aero, Retro 51 Tornado, and Lamy Studio of the top of my head. Welcome to fountain pens, we hope you enjoy it here :)

I had an issue with the first Kaweco that I ever got, entirely stopped writing at all. It was sad but after I got a new one I love them and now have 3. IDK what size you got but I will say their EFs are kinda scratchy which I personally don't mind, I have a fine and mine is quite lovely, even the mediums are small enough for my small handwriting and I find it really smooth. also fun fact Kawecos are German and not Japanese, they just happen to have really fine nibs compared to other "western" brands.

These are amazing starter pens which will most likely become always inked up and within reach pens ❤️

Yea, glad to find a RU-vidr who like EF nibs. I recently got a Pilot VP in EF and am in love. You would love Kaweco EF’s, but you must have gotten a bad nib. I could loan you one of mine so you can see what a great one should feel like. I have over a dozen Kaweco’s and the EF nibs are the best.

It really sounds like the Kaweco sport that you have has a super dry nib. That is common with a lot of Kaweco pens. Mine came just like yours. After a few hours of working on the nib with brass sheets and lots of swearing, I finally have a wetter writer and it writes like a dream.
@candidlyal
@candidlyal 7 месяцев назад
Oooo that’s the only thing I haven’t tried yet is the brass sheets! But I got the private reserve infinity ink and it seems to be doing better? Maybe? lol
@bootsmama1027
@bootsmama1027 7 месяцев назад
@@candidlyal First I got mine writing good with Pilot Iroshizuku inks, then I worked on it until I got it to work with Diamine inks. Iroshizuku and Monteverde are wet inks. I don’t know much about the infinity inks in how they flow; I just know they don’t dry out on the nib. I didn’t want to be limited to wet inks, so I kept working until I got it working with a middle of the road Diamine.

I think your TWSBI Eco was more expensive because of the rose gold trim. I have an Eco with the regular silver trim, and it ran me around $35 instead of $60. I love my Kaweco, but it did take me a little while to get it to write. (Perhaps a wetter ink would help.) I don't have a Pilot yet, but both the Prera and the Kakuno are on my radar. The Sailor and the Pilot Vanishing Point are much more than I can bring myself to spend. I would someday love to add an E95S to my collection, but it will have to be a gift from someone.
@candidlyal
@candidlyal 7 месяцев назад
Seems like we have similar taste in pens! I can’t wait to add the E95s to my collection. I’m definitely looking for a good wet black ink at the moment. I feel like the carbon black is pretty wet though so idk

The Majohn A1 Press is a really good dupe to the Vanishing Point and it actually writes pretty nicely, even though it only has a steel nib… and it comes at a really affordable price, so you might want to check that one out… 😊

I think I can honestly say Pilot is my favorite pen brand! The trouble I have with my Kawecos are related to the converter, but I would also suggest getting some brass sheets (Goulet) and play with the nib a little. Goulet has good videos showing how to use them and it has helped some of my troublesome nibs. I enjoyed your video.

Don’t give up on the Kaweco. I have 4 AL Sport, 2 sports and they all are great writers. I bought my son the brass one for my son and loved it so much that he’s asked for another for this Christmas as well. You may have gotten a bad nib. You may just need to have it smoothed or the tines aren’t aligned. You could also get a different nib. Just letting you know of some options. Love your videos and will be subscribing 😊

I had a Kaweco sport like you, in iridescent pearl, and the nib was great, but I prefer the feel of the AL-sport (“AL” is for aluminum) and I have 5 of those, all with great nibs. My total collection is at 27 pens, including these 5 Kaweco, 5 Lamy AL-star and 4 TWSBIs. I love them all. My favorites, though, are my Pelikan M800 in green, Pilot Custom 823 in amber, Lamy 2000, Pilot Vanishing Point and Pilot E95s in cream/dark red. As you can see, I love Pilot pens and German pens… I also have a Sailor Pro Gear, but I’m not as enamoured with it. I wish I could have them all inked at the same time, but it’s too much!!

You were smart to start with the less expensive pens, but it is always okay to reward yourself with a more expensive pen to mark special occasions! (I'm getting a Pelikan 800 for my retirement!) Platinum is another Japanese pen with very affordable options (Plaisir and Procyon.) I actually prefer the European nibs in mediums and broads, but that's because I have large handwriting, and I write really fast, but I have some of everything in all different price points. It is possible to get a bum nib once in awhile, although I haven't had it happen yet (and I have over 200 pens!) I did purchase some micro mesh sheets and the brass sheets, but have been too chicken to use them on a nib yet! You should take it to a pen show for tuning!

I think you would have such a better experience with a good paper for example Rhodia. Fountain Pen nibs do not do well with printer paper overall. As far as the Kaweco goes give it another shot on good paper and watch a few of the Goulet pens scratchy nib videos.

I get it that this is a new channel. But you lose credibility when you say a nib is scratchy and you are using printer paper, which is generally not made for fountain pens...paper makes all the difference esp when you are using EF or F nibs. I speak from experience, as almost every one of my pens is an EF or F nib.
@candidlyal
@candidlyal 6 месяцев назад
I use tomoe river paper or kokuyo business paper….. I just didn’t have lose leaf on hand for this video when I was filming. I live in a very rural location so online ordering takes forever. The nib is scratchy on tomoe river paper. Every one of my pens are also F or EF.
