Thanks so much for watching as we went through the original X-Men trilogy. We'll be back next week with Captain America: Civil War. It's going to be a fun one! Matt did some more behind of the scenes of this video. Shooting these 3 movies was a lot of fun and a much needed break from the MCU...But I think I speak for everyone when I say we're ready to finish this thing off! Matt's behind the scenes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4isBnZqbPpo.html
I haven't watched the Star Wars reactions and I am not really interested in them either. Can you either explain how this term came to be or maybe give me a timestamp link?
I think marvel fans for the most part are okay if he doesn't like any particular movie because every marvel fan has a different tier list. I don't think if you tell anyone to rank all 23 mcu movies you could find anyone with the same exact list as you. Some people don't like new spiderman, some people think cap is lame, some people find Tony to be too much of a an asshole, it's not like star wars where one set of movies are "the good ones" and people fight over which of the other ones are worse.
When you guys are finished with all the MCU movies. Then Matt and Jenna need to do a tier list (ranking the movies from best to worst) That would be awesome :D.
@@MrTiggityTotz23 Got an idea how that movie should go. Make Rogue the main character with Carol in her head until the finale when she wakes up from her coma. Carol is basically the Superman/Xavier/Goku of the MCU.
Evgen Khersonets Rogue in the comics was WAY more interesting and powerful she actually had a Very Optimistic/ Sassy Personality despite having a dark past and her powers. Movie Rogue has always been disappointing in Comparison. The 90s Xmen Cartoon does her better justice
@@jondoh9414 lol. When they watched star wars Matt would call qui-gon jinn bygonejim and it stuck. So whenever someone says something deep or profound they call it a bygonejim moment
"There's no need for a cure when there's nothing wrong with you", they said to a girl who can't touch anyone without hurting them. Rogue wasn't wrong in wanting to be cured. She had an extremely shitty mutation when compared to the others.
@@icetray2727 Reading the comics as a kid, I disagreed with Rogues ending as well, they completely robbed her of her cool factor and the fact that in the comics she eventually came to terms with her gifts and accepted them, which would've been a better arc for her character to go through in the movie, but Brett Rattner basically said "Nah, FUCK that!"
Honestly when you guys are done with the MCU Id love for you guys to watch the other x men movies especially getting to Logan cause that’s the hierarchy of superhero movies for me personally
Evan Flynn I’m dying to know what Matt thinks of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I’m thinking he’s actually going to like it because it has Hugh Jackman in his huge jacked man form.
It's better if they watch all the xmen movies first because there's a lot of jokes and references in Deadpool that you will only get if you watched all the movies
@@ItzMeWill that doesn't make sense, deadpool came out before xmen apocalypse, logan and xmen dark phoenix, it can't reference those because it was released before them
Aki Tahvanainen Matt said in a few live-streams that he has seen the first Deadpool and he hates it. Maybe his opinion would change if he saw it again but I don’t know if they would even watch it and I wouldn’t get my hopes up for him liking Deadpool 2 either.
@@rdaisydraws oh okay must have overheard that part. but it makes sense, matt really cares for the story and deadpool basically has no story other then, get cancer, try magic heal, get transformed, girl stolen, save girl
An underrated aspect of this series: Matt's Meme Potential. But seriously, thank you all so much for allowing us viewers into your homes and experiencing these movies with you. I can't tell you how excited I am for you to get into Phase 3, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
“It felt convoluted, it felt hodgepodge.” Spot on Matt. Least favorite of the three. Matt, thanks for calling out Rogue for the condescending “you’re a guy, you only have one thing on your mind.” Always bugged me cause Iceman was ever the gentleman. JENNA awesome fallout on the idea of disagreement with mutual respect. 👍
I remember loving X3 when I saw it at midnight in a rowdy packed theater, but yeah it did not age well upon rewatching. Looking forward to when you get around to the other X-Men movies. First Class is my favorite of the franchise.
I was fine with it, just cause there's no way we'd get actual Juggernaut in the movies. Adding magic to the universe would mess with the world they created too much, and they couldn't make him Charles brother without really making him the main villain.
I've been re-watching these after you guys do. Been fun revisiting old favorites to see if they still hold up. HUGE X-Men fan since the 80s/ LOVED the 90s cartoon. BEST EVER
Jenna, Holden, Matt & Pastor: When I saw this movie in theaters it was PACKED. I sat with my friends in the cinema stairs because there was no seats for us. I know it's strange but this happened. And then, when Angel catched his dad in mid-air at the end, everyone clapped and cheered and I got goosebumps. Great times 😭🙌
That was quick nice work holden. Could we get matt reacting to quinten tarintino films I would love too see it but hey its your choice but as always a great video thanks for doing this through quarantine your one of the best youtubers in my opinion
I really hope Holden knows how much it means to have this many videos out. Like he legit has so much footage to edit and doing all these videos, in one week is insane too me and the fans really appreciate it!
I like how you guys take turns on the front of the thumbnail you're all awesome love your reactions and discussions because they are so real it feels like me talking about a movie after watching it with my friends really relatable
It’s weird that we can now call this “the good Dark Phoenix movie” and be just....OBJECTIVELY correct. God, Dark Phoenix was such an incoherent mess. 🤣 Also, yeah. I’ll say I’ve sorta mellowed out on my hatred of X3. It’s still not good, but it’s not awful. And I can actually kinda respect some of the bold comic canon-breaking decisions like Rogue deciding to choose the cure.
Actually no. Dark Phoenix is better than this movie. It has a focused storyline, its emotional moments are earned and it's more accurate to the comics.
I went onto IMDB to figure out why the X-Men movies are hit or misses, and it turns out they switch up directors A LOT. Dark Phoenix was that particular directors debut film 😐
I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing the X-Men movies. I was a bigger X-Men fan than Advengers. Also thank you so much for all the videos you've done this week including Cats. I know its a lot of work for you all but I'm sure I speak for most of you fan base when I say we appreciate it soooo much. I also wanted to give a big shout out to you boy Paster (I apologize if I'm spelling his name wrong), for pointed out the major misstep of the Juggernaut. He is not a mutant, his powers are magical and that boys power NEVER should have worked on him. I feel like Paster and I could sit down and have some great in depth conversations about comics :)
I am SO PROUD of you for not tainting Matt's perceptions beforehand. No one wants to sit down to see a movie and have someone be like, "well, most people agree that this movie stinks/rules..." beforehand, so thanks for not doing that this time. :D
I genuinely didn’t know about the deeper meaning of all these movies until you guys talked about them, and now I have even more of an appreciation for them.
I love how the most compelling story arc of this "for the first time" series is how Matt's breakdowns seem to be getting better and better showing character growth and perhaps even a nascent love for super hero movies ? ^^
I’d love for you guys to watch the Nolan movies! Matt said in the Joker reaction that drama was HIS genre. And I think Nolan movies would be right up his alley and be blown away by them
I laughed so hard at Matt whispering “Help me!” to the camera when Pastor was being a total comic book nerd and complaining that Juggernaut isn’t actually a mutant.
Just wanna say you guys are great and I love what you’re doing! Can’t wait to see the matts reaction to phase 3! Sending my support from fort william, Scotland!
@@Saigonas That's true. I didn't think about that. Endgame might be totaly overload, when it comes to that. I still think he'll be satisfied with it, as the finale of the MCU (or Infinity Saga, or however you wanna call it).
@@Saigonas i really dislike how hung up he gets on those things. like if there is a good reason for someone to come back its just like every other fictional things that you can accept. yes there are times where movies revive someone without any reason, purpose or explanation but the times they are executed well like in endgame you should just be able to accept or even appreciate it
I grew up with the X-men cartoon in the '90's and the first X-men movie was released the year I came out of the closet in high school. I always appreciated the underlying messages of accepting your differences and not hiding who/what you are. That message helped me learn to accept myself. Can't wait for you guys to react to more of them.
Lol loved the reactions as always but I do hope Pastor will be back for many more movie reactions. It's nice to have someone on Holden's side that has seen the movies and nerds out. Loved that he let loose on Juggernaut 🤣
Big thanks to you for making these videos I feel like I'm there with you when you watch the videos. Very glad I've found your channel dude please keep it up, started off my hating matt thinking he was an idiot but he's grown so much just by watching these movies with you and your friends
when matt says "this could be happening somewhere" it's not as dumb as holden makes it out to be. According to infinite universe theory, it is technically impossible that everything isn't happening somewhere
An infinite set doesn't have to include all imaginable possibilities. The set of real numbers is infinite but does not contain a number that is greater than three but less than two.
Holden, loving your series man, especially the convo's and analysis you and your friends put into your after watching commentary. It's a great addition to the reaction's and I think so interesting to see. Keep it up man
Matt: "I like how everybody had different powers. It was interesting to see that everybody had different powers. It was kinda cool" Hmmmmm wait till MCU matt.
Evn though I'm a fan if MCU,I gotta admit that their abilities are kinda homogenized. They all basically have enhanced human attributes like superstrength, etc. The only exception would be Thor's ligtning control, Spiderman's webs, Ironman's tech, Scarlet Witch's illusion and telekinesis, Strange's magic, etc
I really do love Matt's reaction to some of these movies. He brings up some good points and Jenna does have good feedback also. Love when matt said "oh you come hang with us" after Mystique gets cured and is naked on the floor 😂
Ok guys, I swear I saw Matt mouth the words "Help Me" in the after movie review! This holds to a theory I've been developing lately, that Matt is actually held prisoner during these movies and even forced to make all the food for his Masters. When they're not using him for his comments and reviews they keep him in his tiny little office or the garage which is his "Yard Time". We see you Matt! Help is coming! Avengers Assemble!
Matt I really recomend watching "la casa de papel" its a great series. I dont wanna hype it up too much but I dont know anybody who has watched it and not liked it :)
Please watch at least First Class, Days of Future Past and Logan. xD; The others don't really matter, but those 3 at least nicely wrap up the story of this trilogy. (And maaaybe The Wolverine before those 3)
I love the commentary yall do afterwords. As a gay guy who's been through convertion therapy, it was extremely hurtful mentally. Having films like these that I can relate to helped me escape, even for a moment. Showed me how that not everyone was the same, that I wasnt the same as everyone, and that's okay. Love your videos and you guys 😁💗
Unfortunately, they'll have to get there eventually... If they want to watch Deadpool Movies (if I'm not mistaken, Matt already watched the first one and hated it, perhaps he'll get a new perspective after watching all these movies)
You mentioned The Punisher Netflix show during your livestream. I think Matt would LOVE that show because, from a veteran's perspective, it touches on PTSD VERY WELL, and I know mental health issues are a big thing for him.
The continuity is so fucked that it would be both boring (watching Apocalypse and Dark Pheonix before X, X2, Deadpool, DoFP, etc) and so utterly jumbled it would be an incoherent mess to watch these films in chronological order for the first time. It barely makes sense in release order, but that way you can at least track the changes film to film.
I look forward to Matt’s “by gone Jim” moments. Seriously, I don’t listen to anyone else’s after thoughts in movie reactions because they can be so boring, but you guys aren’t boring and the bygone Jim moments are a part of that.
I’m just imagining an alternate universe where Qui Gon is actually named By Gon Jim and every thing he says is one of those inspirational quotes on the cat posters.
Oh yeah, I remember this was the movie had the line "I'm the Juggernaut, bitch!" which is taken from a hilarious joke dub of the X-Men cartoon. And that video was even made before RU-vid and still got spread around a lot.
I feel like Magneto’s helmet was symbolic too, because despite the feud between him and Xavier and them being pretty much enemies, they started as friends and they had respect for each other. Magneto said it himself, his biggest regret was Xavier had to “die” for their dream to live.
Loved the reaction on the one, I’m not gonna lie this movie wasn’t my favourite but at some point Holden you need to watch and tear apart X Men Origins with Matt. Keep up the good work guys keep moving forward.
Holy moly you're pushing these videos out fast as hell. You totally need to watch X-men: First class with them, I think they would enjoy the character development which is shown in that movie
With Matt's comments about this films, talking about racism and the LGBT comunity, you can see he has a big heart. As a girl that came out a few years ago, I really apreciate this perspective you guys have about this films, being inclusive and all those stuff. I really enjoy your content, great job guys!!
Started watching your videos of you showing Matt superhero movies and it led me to watching some of your other videos. You’ve become one of my favorite youtubers and you guys seem like genuine people. Can’t wait to see Matt’s endgame reaction and his full turn to the darkside😈😂 keep up the good work! 🔥
Great discussion about marginalized communities. I love these videos because of great analysis for things like that. The movies don't necessarily have to be strong narratively to spark impactful conversation. Really awesome stuff guys
I saw Dufresne on Jenna's shirt and then the camera dipped down a little and I saw Redding. That is an awesome shirt! The Shawshank Redemption is one of the best movies ever.
