Pan, I've always respected your position. As always this is an amazing video. I just want to give you an update On my situation regarding my detail drive to excellence. When I started watching you I knew nothing, I started as a beginner detailer in a independent shop, moved on from there to a dealership. That dealership saw my passion for excellence and got promoted to a lot guy. I've recently been promoted again to another dealership as their detail manager over seeing six detailers and I would love to get this team the same expertise as I've received. The other thing is that I'd like to raise the expert level to a point where they live being here! Hit the nail on the head Pan. As a consumer, all I want is a great quality product that works for what I need it for and the ability to buy it again when I'm out. I love finding a specific product that works amazing and showing the company support by continuously repurchasing that product. I think new products are fun to try and experiment with, but I definitely love to see updates to products I currently use and enjoy as it makes it easier to just use what I know versus always having to keep up with new products all the time as a DIY weekend washer

Biggest frustration for me in Canada is not getting the same deals as US customers on top of being price gouged by Canadian distributors. Not only is the Canadian dollar but distributors also price products higher.
I feel your pain. And let's not forget our import fees. I am shocked quite often when I see the amount I have to pay in import fees and taxes, above an beyond the insane exchange rate for our poor performing dollar.
Same in USA with companies like Gyeon , Koch chemie, Bilt hamber. I watch John at the Forensic detail channel talk about the costs per wash and price is almost double here in some instances.
Sometimes I find that modern products don’t work so well on older cars meaning back in the days of enamel paints and the products of that era are now gone.
I appreciate the honesty of your reviews and “best awards” and those of Matt from Obsessed Garage. I feel like I have gotten a PhD from watching your channels for the past 3 years. I hate wasting money on inferior products hyped through marketing and sponsor kickbacks. You guys have helped me buy some truly great detailing products I love to use daily with awesome results. I have about 4 brands of products that I purchase consistently and those products always performed to my expectations. Personally, I am always willing to try new and innovative products. It’s the reason I enjoy you channel bc I always learn about what’s “new”. On the topic of drama, I believe that when you criticize someone’s product purchases, you are criticizing their ability to make a good decision. It can become very personal very quickly. Keep doing what you do, I’ll still be watching. Till the next one.
My four favourites, in no particular order, P&S, CarPro, KochChemie and Gyeon. They consistently produce good quality products that do the job. And you’re right about that there isn’t just one great manufacturer. I could list all the products and why I like them, but it would take up too much space. 😂😂

Your channel was one of the first I found & subscribed to….exceptional help for me over these few years as I learned my way through the trough of products & tools. I work mainly for a high end used car dealer prepping cars for sale, as little as just a “proper” clean, up to full blown paint correction, every car is a new challenge! I saw your video on the DIY ceramic inside coating & was thing about ordering. Being $50 ( $49.99) not cheap but was willing to pay until I got to the shipping part. $18 is outrageous. I understand that people charge shipping but I retired from UPS and know all about shipping charges& this is way to much. When talking to your mfg friends maybe you could mention to make these products shipping prices more reasonable! Thanks again Pan
Unfortunately, many brands don't have control on shipping prices. And these is even more true for smaller brands or brands that are just starting their business. They don't have access to large discounts on shipping from UPS, FedEX, USPS, DHL, etc. The larger brands, as they have larger shipments and volume, have access to discounts which they can pass on to their customers. Think of Amazon and their free shipping.
Great video Pan I have been following your channel for a few years now and as a DIYer many of the products you recommended I use to detail my vehicles, I am not a pro and don't have the budget for the high end products, but I do like that you have recommendations for weekend warriors like myself, and the pros alike. We live in a consumer driven society so manufacturers are forced to create new products as often as possible to keep up with the demands. I stick with the tried and true brands that have worked for my vehicles over the years and it is only on occasion that I will try a new product that I have seen reviewed by the reputable detailers such as yourself. I just got a BMW M2, and I've been going down the rabbit hole of wanting to do all the ceramic coating, PPF, and detailing myself. This channel has been all I've watched on RU-vid for the past few days!

A new car is never new until it's properly detailed. - at the factory, the paint defects are often corrected quickly by rotary polishing which can leave marks and holograms, so polishing corrects those, before you lock that in long term with a ceramic coating for example. - vehicles are then transported by truck, train and boat so they are exposed to the elements, industrial fallout, brake dust, rail dust, etc - vehicles are often left at boat docks (when transported by boat) or in exterior parking lots for weeks or months, again being exposed to the elements - at the dealership, the vehicles are almost always poorly prepped using the same dirty water that was used for all the cars on a given day, and poor washing and drying methods leading to swirls and scratches - at the dealership, a layer of cheap wax or paint sealant is usually applied to attempt to make the paint glossy prior to delivery. It's crucial to remove any previous protection before you apply a ceramic coating, as coatings need to bond directly to a virgin clear coat. If you only plan on applying a regular carnauba wax or paint sealant though, you could decide to skip machine polishing, as those protectants can be applied over existing protection and it's not as crucial to prep the paint as well. You are so right Pan. I am a weekend worrier here in Ottawa and I detail my friends and families vehicles for about 2 years now. When I first started out I came across your channel and I was hooked and with your tips and tricks and techniques I have have allot of positive feed back on my results. I follow allot of different channels and WOW information over load. The costs that you can ensure of allot of these products is mind blowing. I myself have been using Canadian Tire supplies and get great results. I don't need chemical guys products to get the same relates in my opinion its all the same stuff. I don't know how detailers are keeping up with this stuff as a business. Steamers, pressure washers, extractors, shop vacs and the likes even as DIYer there is an investment to get started. Love your channel and your content thanks for being there.

Well said Pan , i have learned many important detailing procedures to detail my own vehicle and family and friends cars. I always enjoy your passion and detailed information to help us the viewers make good choices when purchasing ceramic coatings and other detailed products. The only thing going into the future is to continue to give us durability testing on claims from long term coatings with proper maintenance, without the addition of toppers , specifically on prosumer ceramic coatings. This obviously will take time but i think the manufactures claims need to be backed up by real world testing .
I'm the weekend warrior user that wants to take care of my vehicles to the best means possible and always receive comments how well my vehicles are maintained and their appearances. Simply its because of you Pan. The market is saturated with products, latest & greatest brands/innovations. Your reviews, tutorials, and end of year product awards are insanely valuable to me. With so many brands available, these companies lack credibility without solid reviews and you are the go-to guy on the internet. With that comes pros & cons. The cons can simply be reduced down to jealousy and envy. Please note to the people out there who attempt to discredit Pan or other reviewers, you speak VOLUMES about yourself and ironically discredit any value you COULD HAVE brought to the masses. Simply make your review and say you had a different experience and lets work together. You will never achieve success knocking down others. Pan, simply ignore the haters and continue producing top tier videos. Your passion is hard to beat in the level of good OCD you put into your content. I appreciate how transparent you are when a paid/sponsored review is in play and frankly I believe product/brands are stupid for not paying you for reviews because you bring insane value and street credibility. When brands don’t come to you, I'm weary of those brands because you are very honest in a professional demeanor and that my friend scares them. As far as innovation, I'm in favor of competition and latest & greatest. But, I can't afford to try these many innovations and that's why your channel is so valuable to me on your reviews/tutorials both immediate, short term, mid term, and long term reviews. You are the reason I bought my first detailing chemical-and I respect your opinion always…innovation is a sign of the times…things are ever changing, evolving-whether it be for the good or the bad…all you can do is take it all in with a grain of salt; it either works or it doesn’t…plain and simple. I always wait for the hype to die down on new products - then a year later get on the forums and see how they survived. Better to do that than be trapped in the endless treadmill of flavor of the week. Take Canon cameras for example: nothing about then will jump out as being class leading. Why? Because they don’t need to be first to the market as their market is biased towards those that need reliability > bragging rights. They’re like the boring Toyota Camry - they are consistent and perhaps “boring” but always bring reliability. You could probably relate on topics like fashion - it’s simply designed to always induce consumption and that whole “something is missing…” “I didn’t know I needed that?!” Etc Trends Hype Fads Conformists = high cost and often longterm financial regrets This is why it’s always better to wait and then knowledge, economies of scale and distribution will usually bring prices down and increase likelihood for positive results.
I'll tell ya, I bought a new car 2 months ago now. Nothing crazy, a 23 Rav4 Hybrid XSE. It did cost a pretty penny though, and I knew I wanted this to be my first car that I actually kept to own for 10, maybe 20 years, so I started looking into paint protection. Got sticker shock from looking at pro ceramics so started looking into DIY stuff and between you and Joshv I fell into one hell of a rabbit hole. Started watching the Pan-Man recently and appreciate his time and effort doing this. When I check out a detailing channel I’m looking for honesty and credibility which I think is here. When a channel rates a product, I expect them to be objective and Pan does this. Have never seen him pimp any particular product and the fact that he does not use a brand exclusively shows me he is after the best product no matter who makes it. We all have our own methods and ways of doing things and it always helps to see other opinions. Stay independent sir!
Awesome video, I really liked it. I would also throw in a couple more of the detailers (I actually have only watched about 3 of the ones you listed, I need to get out more), that's Wilson Auto Detailing and Hawaii Detailing. I really enjoy Hawaii a lot and Wilson is just so high energy.

Gyeon show I think it was called - the purple bottle, Came up absolutely amazing! Not one flaw and the owner of the wrap shop I did it at said I did an even better job then there normal ceramic installer whose worked there for over a year 🙌 I have the best video showing the final results 🤩 I’ll tag you when I upload it! Your channel really is better then anything else, even real life lessons 🙏
I think trying to be informed without getting paralysis by analysis is becoming increasingly more challenging. I find that knowing what past products stand the test of time is as informative as learning what new and innovative products are available for the consumer.

Pan what you do is so cool for people to find out if the products you test have any improvement over other products or if it’s a improvement from there old products. I used turtle wax at first they McGuire after that and after seeing your show I’m going to use DIY products. I had the honor of meeting Yvan and Nick when they detailed the outside of our vehicle. Yvan knowledge is great they are making it crazy fast to wash and wax cars these days. I worked for a car lot detailing cars that come in and later on worked for a guy that detailed John deer equipment for shows and the stuff they used was light years a head of the game in the late 80’s early 90’s but the s stuff made today is incredible for speed and results.

Hey pan. Im really happy you mentioned the torture test entertainment. I know its just for entertainment purposes but people beilve that these acts mean the ceramic coatings are not good. Because these don't replicate what happens in the real world with these coatings on your vehicles. I mean who the hell uses highly concentrated chemicals on their vehicle after a coating. Its really strange to me.. they also make the manufacturers look bad as if they're not making good stuff

The type of durability from ceramic coatings is far more important to me then the actual durability itself. DIY Details coatings come to mind as they have 3, 5, and 8 year options. Phew! A lot to hang out there and I will admit I skipped some but... For the greater part I get it. I drove taxis on a Saturday night out of desperation to clear some debt. You can imagine there were some terrifying moments. In the end there were 99.9% of my passengers were terrific either going out or coming home from memorable occasions with friends and family. These were the people I focussed on who trusted me and thanked me. This is what people are. I want to thank you for sharing your profession in the short time I have come to view your channel and wish you all the best.

Hehe detailing has never been my main source of income though. It’s a life of hard work and smart financial moves that got me here. No miracles, just hard work. 👍🏻

I use old car soaps for washing the outside of my house windows. I use the surplus Waxoil that I originally bought to protect the cavities in an old car, to protect the steel deck on my petrol lawnmower. There's a ton of uses that your surplus car detailing products could be put to besides use on a car. I'm cheap, so I gasped when you said you throw them out. Anything I don't have a use for goes to a charity shop if it's in useable condition. I look for old out of print science fiction books in charity shops. I'd be chuffed to bits to come across such a haul. As far as my priorities for detailing products are concerned, I first want durability over looks, though I prefer beading over sheeting as a bonus. The gloss appearance is nice to have, but I'm mainly concerned with protecting the paintwork.
I find with the consumer products the marketing oftens adds another layer of confusion where the product is actually quite good. Quite often I'm left trying to work out what a product really is in context of detailing whereas the pro products are typically sure easy to understand.

This is a very good conversation, I often thought the same thing. Why use something newer if the older product still gets the job done. I find that as a prosumer detailer many products I purchased years ago still perform for me at the same level and ease of use as intended by the manufacturer. Thanks for the post Pan.

Caranuba Wax and any car shampoo….that was me for years…..M5…S2000….AUDI TTS…and so on….Sunday morning wash…..one bucket and a sponge….then you find this on RU-vid…..and your new M3 now has 23 products you never had…..and the 20minute Sunday wash is now 3 HOURS…then takes me two days of rest to recover….damn you Pan…..but I love it…..the arthritis doesn’t…..

I remember being a young lad looking at the products in the supermarket as my mom wheeled me around the store. Number 7 compound and Simoniz car wax.. Ha! Then Armour All protectant... make your interior look shiny like an oil slick.. to today. Which is why we love hearing your take and reviews on these brands and products. Hi Pan. Just watching your durability section. In my opinion I never look at the durability. There are so many products to try. If a product has expired in three months, it's an excuse to try another one. I'm a big fan of waxes. I love the process. The only time I'll use a sealant is for the winter when applying a wax is not realistically possible. Take care, Paul from the UK.
Thanks Paul! Yeah taling about winter, gosh I hate winter! Haha. We’re already in freezing temperatures here with a bunch of snow in Montreal. Our “winters” go from November until mid April. Waaaaay too long for detailing enthusiasts like me haha.
Hahahahah that's totally right! Our first snowfall of the season in Montreal was almost 30 cm (almost 12 inches) and that's like "what ever" for us haha.

There's only a tiny thing I have to say, you say you hate clickbait titles and behavior, but in this video you're doing that yourself a little bit, specially with the video image. Your analogy about televisions is true. I worked in the auto repair industry for 43 years and I worked for two of the three big manufacturers, and I can tell you that you can have two vehicles that are built identically the same, but one will be trouble free and the other one will be nothing but trouble. And you can't fault an entire company for one product that didn't live up to your expectations. Really it's luck of the draw when it comes to things like televisions and cars.
We live in the land of a million experts.. So I always watch many reviews and take them for what they are worth. You come across as knowledgeable and professional and I'm sure that's the basis for your success.
Suggestions for companies is to make sure your product does what it claims, no matter the environment. Chemical test are good because in the real world you have bugs, salt, gasoline, oil, and all kinds of stuff on the road that get on your vehicle that you need a coating to stand up to. If it can't, then why spend all the time and effort yourself, and/or pay someone 10 times as much to do the same job that you can get from putting a spray coating on yourself every time you wash your vehicle? As a consumer, don't hit me with a product that claims the world, and then a warranty sheet that claims otherwise. My point here, is that consumers want what companies claim they provide. That's it. Trouble starts when products don't stand up to their claims. You don't see anyone dissing Turtle wax seal and shine, but it doesn't claim much either. Moving onto why I think this video has come up is Cerakote....No they didn't claim performance in years, but they do make the statements "Put Cerakote to the test against any other paint protection product and see why Cerakote is the World’s leading and most trusted ceramic coating. Others say they're number one; at Cerakote, we prove it." "Polishing through a paint correction process will be the only effective way to remove CERAKOTE Professional Ceramic Paint Coating from a vehicle's paint." And in your video you state that Cerakote sells to companies that water down their products...So aside from water beading how is a consumer supposed to know whether a product is still "protecting" a painted surface when that is gone? What test can be done to say the coating is still on there?
What we really haven't seen yet, are consumer grade coatings (glass bottles) on the shelves in big box stores or auto part stores. Not even from companies like Adams. There is a reason for that.
The challenge for "consumer grade" brands sold in retail stores or auto parts stores, is that the majority of the public buying from there barely have detailing experience. So it wouldn't be a good idea to sell a glass bottle coating as most wouldn't know how to use it, and it could turn into an application nightmare. Enthusiasts and professionals usually all buy online, so you can get Adam's coatings online. Meguiar's also sells some now (like M888 ceramic coating). Turtle Wax, Mothers and others will eventually follow too, with easy to apply coatings.
When I pick a product... My criteria is product support. Has the manufacturer put out videos? How good are they? Are they secretive about their product? Do they actually know what they're talking about? You'll know when they know what they're talking about. Another good criteria is if I see any engineering information on the product. I want to see some real specs, I want to hear a STEM person talk about the product. I chose DIY Detail products for the bulk of my working because they have such great support videos and respond quickly to their questions. A lot of companies do the same but I like being in touch with the people who market the product on RU-vid. RU-vid presence is a huge qualifier for me.
Good point here. I also agree with you when saying RU-vid presence is a huge thing for you, as it's important to me too. I like to get to know the people behind the brand, see their personalities and judge their level of knowledge or passion towards their brand and products. Some old school companies who don't value social media like RU-vid are really behind the pack nowadays if you ask me. People want to be connected with the brand they want to support, and see who they are supporting!

Pan I wonder how well the more known brands of coatings will protect motorcycle rims/wheels (not tires) from when we use brake parts cleaner on the rotors, calipers while doing brake maintenance? Whats been your experience for your cars?

Pan. Absolutely love your channel. Learned a lot. You and I are in the same age group with the same work ethics. What I would love to see on your channel bc of your honesty. I am a weekend warrior. I would like to see more side by side demos. Jesscar ultra vs other brands. I know it’s a lot of ask. Maybe on a black hood to a white pearl hood. All products seem to behave differently on different colors. Maybe for fun. A side by side comparison of the old school paste wax. Maguire versus mothers. P&S Bead Maker. Use it weekly 3 seasons of the year. Don’t see rain in the summer in CA. So get to enjoy it. Winter and weekly wash. Just use cheap turtle wax spray wax spray. You're exactly right Mr. Moschopoulos, pushing for constant innovation is simply not possible. It's like a good video game series, such as Halo or GTA. If you want the next installment to be worth the hype, its going to take a few years to make that delivery! What's important for me Pan is that a product is the most effective, or among the most effective, in performing it's stated purpose. If it's hitting multiple goals at the same time, that's also a big consideration. I also look for long lasting protection. And lastly, ease of application. Also Pan, I watched your autobiography video a few weeks ago, (#Pan's Life) and I remember you stated that you don't detail as a full time occupation anymore. I had no idea you were working in the wealth management sector! That's awesome man! Especially considering your degree was in microbiology. I have a friend who also is a self employed wealth manager and he does very well. A big frustration of mine is when brands (mostly chemical guys) have so many products that essentially are designed for the same purpose, except there might be very few deviations. I wish they, and others that do this same thing, would simply discontinue older items and only carry the newer ones that are the latest and perform the job the best. And even though you're not a brand (at least not yet) you always give great customer service. 4 hours of replying is insane! I absolutely love deep dive videos like this Pan, where you give your audience life advice as well, for younger viewers like myself, it's a great sense of direction. Thanks for the recommendations on other channels Pan! I've only watched you thus far, but that's because you're very meticulous, do product comparisons to see which performs the best, and the tutorials, which are CRUCIAL to newbies such as myself.
Just a few clarifications are needed here. Detailing isn't my main source of income, that is correct. But I don't work in wealth management. I do have investments in the financial markets, yes. And I studied at the medicine faculty in university, not in microbiology, but in molecular biology and biochemistry. Those are very different from microbiology. I love watching these videos and learning about the application of the products and what is out there and without your help i would still be struggling . Example : P&S interior cleaner i watched you use this and it's fantastic and when i detail the inside of the car i get a showroom finish now . As i am not a pro detailer i take your word on all the products you show and use it to make me better at what i do but i have come across another channel doing that test on a ceramic coating which played on my mind but as you said if the car is washed and maintained properly the coating will do it's job . I think here on RU-vid its easy to be side tacked away from you from what's right and the correct procedures by others who may have very little experience but talk a good game . Personally i find yourself and the forensic channel are really the only ones i need to follow and i apricate the time you put into to the video's for us to watch ,
