This song is beautiful! So Disney so underrated. Sting is my favorite singer and he sang it well done. THIS movie was the most funniest and yet warm hearted movie Disney had ever made and I'm sad Disney never cared about it as much. They really thought this movie was a fail. They expected it to be like an Aladdin or the lion king and dont get me wrong i LOVE those movies man. but Disney are such perfectionists that they got blinded to what brilliance they made. this movie was different, it was fresh, it was unique and it told a moral all at once while still keeping that comedy theme. Disney went out of their comfort zone and experimented and came out successful. They might not think that this movie was great and box office wise it wasnt like other Disney movies but to millions of kids who watched it, it was memorable, sweet, and the secret ingredient, it was FUN! It was the most hilarious and the most charming movie about friendship I've ever seen them create. Disney made something wonderful and they couldn't see that then. But if people still remember this movie, Disney succeeded.
2:36 - 2:59 "After the feature, be sure to join us as Sting performs "My Funny Friend and Me" from The Emperor's New Groove soundtrack. Available on Walt Disney records."
This is on my list of favorite buddy songs from animated movies. Here are the others: "You've Got A Friend In Me" from Toy Story "If I Didn't Have You" from Monsters, Inc. "Friends To The End" from Tom and Jerry: The Movie
Kinda ironic how these lyrics reminds me of how I feel towards my roommate that I've lived with for almost 9 years now so I dedicated it to her on Facebook. Still one of my fave Pop-based Disney songs to this very day!
2000: Sting was nominated for an Oscar for this 2001 For Kate & Leopold for Until but that song won a Golden Globe. I love Sting too(aka Gordon Summer). I like this song.
Today is officially the 15th Anniversary of the movie's release in theaters. I'm so old. I was born on June 5, 1994. This movie came out on December 15, 2000, so I was 6 and a 1/2 when this movie came out in theaters. I am now 21 and a 1/2. My half birthday is December 5.
"And we wonder just what happened. To the life we knew. Before the world changed." Sting, I honestly think the exact same thing. What happened to the life we knew? When we used to be so carefree? Kids playing out on the streets? Visiting our friends to play video games on the same tv? Nowadays, the streets are empty, ppl play more online than they visit each other, and technology is slowly evolving around us.
I sing this to my gf every now and then, and it brings tears in her eyes. Shes more than just a love in my life. Shes my funny friend. My Funny Friend and Me ^^ But this also reminds me of the fun times I had with my best friend when we were 10 years old. Today we've seperated but we still keep in touch and remember all the fun times we had together
I was born in December 1st 2005 and this movie cam out in December 15 2000, so that means that was 14 days after my birthday and that I wasn't born yet now I'm 11 and this movie is 17 years old !!!!!
As much as I wish we got kingdom in the sun, as I’m one of those people who loves romance in animation; and would’ve preferred to see how they handle that, and I like the original cast a tiny bit more, this movie is still very good. And I gotta hand it to sting who stuck through this movies tumultuous development cycle, and gave a great song here.
