Oh yes! Even here in Sydney, Australia. Our seasons are opposite and that can be frustrating, but I still look forward to watching Linda and other American content creators. 😊🙏🏼🇦🇺🍷🐨
Yes, they are always a treat, and often a reward for me for doing something I really didn’t want to do. I try to make myself wait but often cannot. I enjoy them all!
I complimented a lady on her beautiful blouse at Costco yesterday. I thought of you, as I did it because of you. She was so happy, and talked to me about it, and why she bought it. It made me happy, also.
You have accomplished much in a short 8 months! The terrace looks fabulous and shines. The East side looks demure and calming. The back yard patio is just perfect, and the stars are devine capped. You amaze! Even your 'junkyard" is looking better.
Wow, your grass looks pretty darn good for all that hot weather and not watering! Yes, cannot get too many walkabouts !! Loving your weekly notes too 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I know the chairs are showing their age, but I love the old Smith and Hawkins chairs. I love patina in a garden. Can't believe how the east side has flushed out. It is looking gorgeous. I am looking forward to the staging of the back yard step area . I know there will be pots coming down the steps... ala fairy tale back stoop. The guys did impeccable work on the bricks. I bet its hard to sleep with all the ideas swimming in your head! I was wondering, after the tomatoes are done.... will you ever make the front window box more uniform. I remember how intentional the one at your old house was planted. It always looked so lovely.
LINDA, I loved this morning walkabout so much! Something about it reminded me of when you'd take us for a walk early in the morning at the Fairytale house. I thought the front terrace looked so beautiful in the morning light with the music of the crickets! Your plans for the back are really progressing! The steps are Amazing! Thank you for sharing.
My beloved spouse is very ill these days. I look forward to your videos as a respit for a few minutes. A thing of beauty that takes me to another plane, even for just a few minutes.
No Linda I never get tired of your Wednesday Walkabouts. As you say it always looks different in some aspect, whether it's the change in plants/flowers, the weather or the light there is something new to enjoy BUT I enjoy seeing the same things in your garden. Thank you 😊
I never tire of your Wednesday walk about! I always get new ideas for my own garden as yours is evolving. It’s beautiful and the steps in the back are just gorgeous. Love your new chairs as well, and no I cannot believe how quickly the transformation took place. Thanks again, Linda! 💜 Stay cool!
Enjoyed hearing your corner of the world waking up. Thanks for the lovely walk. Imagined myself walking too…but my watch doesn’t count imaginary steps. What a shame.
The front garden areas look so pretty in the morning light. I envy you your trees in the backyard where you can sit early in the morning and have coffee. Trees make a space feel peaceful. A hurricane destroyed my big trees, so now I have full HOT sun. The backyard is really coming along! The steps look wonderful. I am looking forward to seeing all the pieces come into place. I bet you are too.
Everything looks so good, Linda! I have very little left. Our temps have been in the mid to high 90’s but we have extremely high humidity. Not to mention our plants never recover because night temps stay above 80. It’s very discouraging when you put so much time, energy and love into gardening , and then watch it wither away. Be glad you have low humidity. 😊
What a lovely job you’ve done. Just gorgeous. We also moved in April and are also working hard in the garden. It’s pretty amazing what you can create with plants.
Love how one of your potted boxwood ball topiaries mirrors the circle in your door (@11:18)! Everything is filling in so well... the 'cluttered' look you had mentioned before is going away, as you said it would. Can't wait to see it come the Fall.
Your front gardens are just amazing in this short time. Now the back is coming together. Hard to believe it’s been less than a year. What an accomplishment, Linda. Kudos to everyone who has worked on the hard scape. Kudos to you for the plantings. Incredible! 💕😊
Wow the steps look marvelous! God bless you sneeze! The brickwork is wonderful. Those 2 guys ate great and do meticulous work. I can't wait ti it's all done. I still think a curved gate with a top to match the test of the fence would look great.😊❤
I recommend some Autumn Brilliance Seviceberry trees around your bistro area in the front yard. They’re beautiful four season interest trees. They only get about 15 feet tall and the canopy is not very dense, so they provide dappled shade, perfect for a shade garden underneath. Beautiful fall color and the birds love the fruit. You’ll never see any mess because the birds eat the fruit before you can pick it! Amur maples are also great small trees with stunning fall color!
I am awestruck with each walkabout. The enormous amount of work that has been accomplished in such a short amount of time is unbelievable!! I’m looking forward to the continuing changes of this artwork!
Linda, could u do a video on over wintering annuals. Meaning, if I bring my coleus in they get leggy, if if root them in water they get soggy. I hate to throw annuals out and rebuy. Maybe Monica could come? Thank you! Love the show.
Zone 7b , very hot and dry here as well . But because off the type of plants I have the garden is surviving without me giving to water . But This is when I am glad I didn’t make up more potted plants than I have now ! ! The water goes right through them! They probably are all root … 😩
Everything looks like it has been there for years. Absolutely beautiful and as I’ve said before I really love your vision, I know it’s so rewarding to walk out and see all the hard work you’ve done. Thank you for sharing with us.🌸🦋💕
Linda, pls don’t apologize for mentioning your temperature and high heat bc this TX gal has not experienced any breaks to 100• weather since June so your advice and plant details in this heat is invaluable. I’ve killed several May planted full sun shrubs in my 9a zone (1 abelia, 2 loropetalums and 3 encore azaleas) by either under watering or overwatering. I also killed 1 transplanted Juliet cleyera with the same weapon, water. I was spot watering the roots but not the ground around it and I suspect that had I evenly and deeply watered the whole flower bed then they would have survived. Pls continue to advise on all the ways to best protect plants in this terrible heat dome. Also pls advise on how often you are watering your front yard in consistent 100+ degree weather for months on end in full sun. I am watering 3x a week 10min each zone and only deep watering my established trees 2x a month.
The timber fence along the western side is beautiful too. We have too many ghastly iron fences in Australia, I’m guessing because white ants are a problem here. Timber stays cooler and certainly looks so much better. Although you say it’s a utility area for storage and passageway from front garden to back I’m sure it will be lovely when you have put your gardening touches to it. ❤
A wall garden would look lovely on the western fence and provide a nice view from dining room window. It's still quite chilly here in South Australia and I cannot wait for spring blooms on my native trees. Though likely I'll be sneezing like you. Also think some tall grasses billowing in the breeze and catching the morning light would look lovely at the front terrace. Lots of English gardens have these 👍👍❤❤
It’s Wednesday, the 23 and here in middle Tennessee at 4:23 in the afternoon, it’s 95 degrees with a real feel temp of 106 degrees . The low tonight is 73.. I have never looked forward to fall as much as this year.. but, lord, the work that will need to be done, then ❤️❤️
Feeling your pain. Central MS and at 12:38 last night it was 98… now it is 109 real feel. Tomorrow is suppose to a mean hairy one eyed beast. We desperately need rain. Hang on! Cooler temps are coming…. Hopefully.
Please send your lows here....we don't get that kind of break from the heat at night....I'm just glad we are starting to see slight drops in Temps as we tip toe ever so slowly into fall.
@conniemorgan8402 south florida. We are in a false fall pocket right now, with night time Temps below 85...but the humidity just won't go away. I need a winter....we didn't get one at all last year
@@rootelation486 we didn’t really get a winter either, and it feels like the Augusts I had growing up, the grass is crispy, brown, but these temps!! Better days, and nights ahead.. everyone just hang in there. 3 months till Thanksgiving .. 4 months till Christmas.. the time is so getting away from us..
Looking gorgeous! Amazing how fast it’s growing so quick. Have you thought of maybe another sitting area where the birdbath is. You could use your older chairs and birdbath for a cute garden vignette.. backed with the gorgeous hydrangeas with a cute flagstone pathway lined with spring tulips.. 🌷🌷🌷🌷 😊
I moved a topiary out of a pot and into the garden the other day and thought about you. It's all LV when it comes to my topiary collection. Never had the nerve to add them without your encouragement
Linda, I live in Northwest Florida and we've had an unusually hot summer here too. I set out 12 tomato plants and only got a few tomatoes. I had a lot of blooms but they never turned into fruit. Last week, I watched a RU-vid video that said high temperature can make tomato pollen sterile. Have you heard this before?
I love these Wednesday walk a-bouts! The heat has been brutal in OKC for sure! I have been adding used coffee grounds to my plants daily during this heat instead of fertilizer. This seems to have kept the bad critters away from my stressed plants this summer. Blessed and Thriving, Lynda Kay
If the planter boxes in the back were painted the same colour as the fence they would just disappear and the plants would show better… just a thought 💕
It has been hot in Alabama as well. I am trying to garden some thanks to your videos. Both my grandmothers had prolific flower gardens and I seem to have a black thumb. I am 68 years old and I am determined to learn something new! We have a small yard and I have an row of boxwoods along the walk and I planted some variegated lantana between them and they have bloomed beautifully. We have a small area by the front steps that has one boxwood and I put some Mexican heather there. Again, success. Thank your for your tips and suggestions. You have upped my game.
No one who hasn't been watching your videos ever would believe that all of this beauty has transpired over less than 8 months, Linda! Only you could have accomplished this sensational miracle! BRAVO and YAHOO for YOU!! 👏👏👏💚💚💚 Linda
Looking so good Linda. It's a shame about those two chairs the way they've aged so poorly I'm sure they were pricey too. I'm sure with a bit of work they can be brought back, but no ones got time for that during gardening season.
Your frint yard looks spectacular. Your backyard is looking so beautiful. Here in El Pado, it's been hot 🔥, but the last few days its been cooler. This morning I woke up to beautiful rain. We needed it so much, just likeveveryone else. Jow I love days like this. I oray for everyone else to get rained on. 🙏
Looks beautiful despite record breaking heat. I know you mentioned in this video some of the plants doing well but canyou list all the plants that are thriving in this heat, like top 10. I live in Dallas so we have very similar weather conditions. My plants are all struggling. I have full sun exposure yard and patio.
'Twas a lovely walk about, Linda ~ the flowers, topiaries, and globe shaped bushes all look splendid in the 100 degree weather , everything seems to be holding up great. the new chairs for your social patio are perfect as well 😊
I am so jealous of your healthy plants and yard! Mine is so distressed this time of year here in Charlotte, NC. I just cannot water enough to make any difference. I am really amazed at your grass. How do you keep it so green in with your high temperatures? I have fescue which is a problem in the summer but lovely the rest of the year. I have lost so many plants this summer due to the heat and lack of rain. I am going to have to start from scratch in the fall. Boo Hoo!
Have you considered painting the back planter boxes the same color as the fence? Just my opinion, the lighter color makes them look less impressive and to small for the area. Everyone has an opinion hopefully I do not offend you with mine.
Your steps are truly magnificent! Your cottage and gardens are pure delight. I have enjoyed sharing your journey. Can hardly wait to see the back finished, will be such a wonderful area for relaxing and entertaining. I look forward to every one of your videos. Your channel is my favorite.
Living here out in the low AZ desert, I have to giggle when I hear "We have had to live with extreme heat of around 101" ! Our EXTREME heat is WAY up in the 115 to 118 mark!!! Your garden is just so beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing
I like the narrow path on the west side, it has fun potential…the forms, shapes and colors in the front garden are very pleasing to the eye. Well done Linda.
Everything looks absolutely amazing! The struggle to keep my garden going here in the Texas Hill Country is a beast! I do have a question for you... by using the holes the tree post left to water, is that going to create air pockets around the root system that could cause the trees problems in the future? I’ve always been afraid to use the big watering stakes with all the holes in them because I was concerned they would leave little air pockets. Any tips on helping young newly planted trees where my irrigation will not reach is very appreciated. I am using the irrigation bags on some recently planted dessert willows and they are doing the trick, even in this extreme heat.
I don’t understand how your yard can look so green and lush. I’m in the Dallas/Forth Worth area and it look like a dragon blew fire on my entire yard.😂
Always look forward to and enjoy the WWA, Linda! Everything is coming together in true LV style and it’s looking great. What a transformation! It really is hard to believe how much you’ve accomplished since the beginning of the year. I love your new social patio chairs. We’re in the market for some new backyard furniture and would love to know where you found these.
