@aRctic Yes you clearly don't understand. Holden's Girlfriend yawns during reating to every MCU movie reaction. If you still don't get it let me know. Also MCU is amazing😁
@@chand911 It came up like three different times. Not to mention that Holden should know that Belova and Romonov are their real surnames. Jen even says Yelena's full name in the reaction. If those are totally fake why would they use them after being "raised" for a few years with whatever family name they used when in Ohio? It's still nitpicky, but when I was watching the movie, I honed in on those details because I felt they were important, like the script was trying to tell us it's important. Natasha even tells her in the very beginning that it's not like she expects them to be total friends. Why use that word if they 're biological sisters?
@@kjaime7030 The dinner scene? The whole point was their life was a lie because it was part of a mission. I really don't know why they thought they were biologically family.
Clearly she didn't snap anyone's neck. His head turned maybe thirty degrees at best in relation to his torso and well within it's normal range of motion. I had to watch it a second time because when I saw it initially I thought she grabbed his arm. She actually grabs his shoulder, her arm across his upper chest. But hey, it's a movie.
I knew it, I knew Black Widow was the next one, even though the series came first, the movie was originally was supposed to be the very first thing from Phase 4, so Jen is actually watching it in the most correct order, and experiencing Val's cameo in production order... Wow, just thinking how far she's come in the past few months!
I am almost 100% confident that both of Vals scenes were re shoots in both this and TFAWS. She was supposed to show up here in black widow first but they definitely changed her scenes
@@Grasfh Really?! My Russian friends say that Yelena‘s (Florence Puhgh) accent and lines in russian are the most accurate and natural (not perfect but much better as Scarlet Johnson wich is allegedly pretty worst) in comparison to everyone else in the cast of this movie and not again such a enormous abomination of Russian and stereotypes like usual been done in Hollywood movies
I'm thinking it could be the Thunderbolts, or it could be the Dark Avengers since the two confirmed members are ones that have the same abilities as two of the original Avengers. That plus the return of Abomination in Shang Chi and She-Hulk imply that it is getting people with the same abilities as the original 6 Avengers. I wouldn't be surprised if we also get someone in the Armor Wars series joining like Crimson Dynamo or a new Iron Patriot and someone from the Hawkeye series like Bullseye.
I'm looking forward to it. Us agent, yelena, abomination, ghost, zemo and hopefully taskmaster. Kinda like suicide squad but everyone got fleshed out before the movie
@@absolutecarnage777 I still think the way they set her up in this film--and knowing the actress--Yelena is more likely to become part of Young Avengers (or West Coast Avengers) rather than part of Thunderbolts (or Dark Avengers). I don't see them killing off Clint just yet, and I can see her being smart enough to discover what really happened on Vormier and how much Clint loved Natasha, and then befriending Kate Bishop.
The way I took that was that they don't think they are. But whose to say that the woman they both might of been looking for. Isn't the same woman we don't know yet.
@@joshkent8172 They are not biological sisters. All Black Widows are victims of human trafficking, simply to be brainwashed (or completely mindcontrolled in the case of Yelena's generation of Widows) and trained as spies within the Black Widow program.
Perfect timing, literally just finished watching it with my fam. Agree with the ratings, honestly solid film and love how it’s expanding the MCU going forward
@josh hunter it”s a stupid post credit even because although I think Yelena would work in the Hawkeye show it’s stupid she thinks he killed her though it’s gonna just get resolved in one conversation
@@charliesimon4437 Well it's obvious Valentina is just trying to stir the pot. They've introduced her as someone who operates in the gray area. I thought the PC scene was pretty interesting.
Same that was the point where I was like oh this is gonna be good only thing i didn't like was the taskmaster reveal hope they give him the Mandarin treatment and the real tsskmaster shows up in some later movies or shows
I was talking to my friend about this and he brought up how Nats real moms gravesite had a body but no name and how Nats gravesite had a name but no body kind of sad when you think about it
Excellent point I hadn't thought about--though i did think about the fact there was no body there. I bet the screenwriters put in that tidbit about her real mother specifically for this mirror image effect in our subconscious. When you think about it, there's literally no other reason for that line to be in the script at all. This was a busy movie, so every line of dialog had to be valuable.
It is ridiculous how amazing Florence Pugh in this role. She was so loveable. So witty. Such a badass. So much amazing dialogue delivered perfectly. From the conversation in the car about her sweet new army vest. To "we're both doing a real good job!" To her telling Natasha how dare she say the best time in her life was fake because it wasn't fake to her. I hope we get a lot more of Florence Pugh because she is the best thing that came from this film.
To be fair, because of the Loki series, Marvel could write her in easily. And they also cleverly jumped "Two weeks later" at the end of this movie from the destruction of the Red Room to Natasha being blonde and going to rescue Hawkeye and the gang. And this movie took place over what? 4-5 days? So 2 weeks worth of time before Natasha flies off to Infinity War could even produce two movies if they push it :-P
@@NikstSWE actors don’t usually like playing the same character over and over again. I think Scarlett and RDJ are officially done whereas Chris Evans could Very likely be back cause his contact isn’t even over yet.
@@MW_3 considering how badly Disney is doing Scarlett Johansson right now I don't think she's ever coming back as black widow. Btw her and Kevin feige, the amount of anger btw marvel and Disney has to be at an all time high.
They’re not blood related, they were a “classic” Soviet planted family that were sent there to be spies. Except Yelena didn’t know and I think Natasha was aware (bc, in the opening scenes, she says she doesn’t want to go back and that Yelena is too young to go there) Also explains why Natasha felt none of their relationship was real and why she’s always said she didn’t have a family in the previous MCU movies
she missed out on all the theories and everybody getting hyped and the atmosphere together with thousands of others so theres plus sides and some negatives
Florence Pugh being in the MCU is a huge get. Fantastic actor, you should watch Little Women, Midsommar, Fighting with my Family etc to see more of her work.
Both she and Scarlett Johansson were nominated for an academy award for a supporting role" in 2020 and Scarlett had a lead role nomination to the same year. It was well-deserved nominations. Pugh stole the show in this movie, not because she did a better job than Scarlett but because her character was more upbeat and fun. She was in control for her life and free for the first time but Black Widdow was on the runs and had lost her friends, a low point in her life. So how they were was a direct result of when the movie was taking place and both did a great job portraying their characters.
Also Little Drummer Girl..idk if youve ever seen it but its a mini series and she is absolutely fantastic in that...its also a spy thriller kind of movie
@@jacktait9849 that's the alias Natasha used to get into Budapest, where she finally reunited with her sister. Yelena named the dog in her sister's memory.
@@jacktait9849 Did you notice when Natasha took Dreykov's ring? Right after she smashes her head on the table to "sever the nerve", he slaps his hand on the alarm. She grabs his hand and knocks him on his ass. We see both hands, no ring. Intelligence gathering and manipulation is her best trait. Her simple plans may be "shit plans" but in the long run she is the best.
"God I knew it, I knew you did. It's so cool right?" Honestly that's the most wholesome moment of all of the Marvel movies, how excited she got over that vest, I love it.
Truth. It's STILL not going to be the same, though, because for the foreseeable future, she's going to get FOUR films AND 2-4 series on Disney Plus EVERY. YEAR. It's like an unending binge from here on out.
I honestly hadn't considered how exciting this was for Holden now. With Jen caught up, you two can watch these things for the first time together now. How fun.
@@gruchaczpospolity9351 I'm just saying that I would have preferred this to have been released before endgame. One reason is personally I wasn't really sad when Black widow died, but if this movie came out before that movie then I think I would have had way more of an emotional attachment to her character.
@@gruchaczpospolity9351 Okay but they totally could have done that earlier. Sam Wilson was introduced all the way back in Winter Soldier, and him becoming the new Captain America feels all the more natural for it. Introducing Yelena just for the sake of replacing Natasha after we already know she does feels far more artificial and forced than if she was introduced years ago. We could have even had Yelena appear in the epilogue of Endgame. If you ask me this film should have been the either the second or last in a trilogy. That way we could have seen the mission in Budapest with Clint first movie, then this second following up for those events, the possibly a third movie set during the snap or something
Val recruiting for Ross = Thunderbolts inc Zemo, US Agent, Abomination, Yelena etc, this gonna be good. I'm sure we gonna see more of Val (and Ross) in Hawkeye building the foundation for this, including getting more info about Abomination from Shang-Chi
Not to mention Young Avengers, which I'm going to guess Yelena "defects" to. I'm betting that instead of killing Clint, she makes friends with Kate Bishop in the "Hawkeye" series. I mean, if we're going to see a "Black Widow 2" starring Pugh, she can't be part of Marvel's version of the Suicide Squad. I think Pugh made a multi-year deal to be as good as Scarlett's Widow, though with a shady past like Bucky.
Oh he's 100% returning they are clearly setting up for the Winter Guard Where Red Guardian is like the Russian Captain America, Crimson Dynamo (who Yelena jokingly called him) is the Russian Ironman, team also consists of Major Ursa a man who turns into a Bear which the actor Red Guardian broke the wrist of in the Prison confirmed that is who he was playing. All were missing reference whys from the founding members are the twins Darkstar and Vanguard. Additionally the Winter Guard plays into both the Skrull and Dracula plot lines. Skrull plot like has been built up in several films already and Blade film is confirmed which connects directly to Dracula.
They definitely wanted Yelena to shine in this since they are setting her up to become important, it makes sense that the split between the two Widows was fairly balanced.

@@ISavant I’m going off the fact that Darcy In wandavision knew the entire infinity war and endgame story. Obviously the public wouldn’t know every single adventure people went on, but surely they would’ve questioned how Nat died
Yelena and Clint’s fight will go like this: they’ll duke it out the first few minutes and then little bits of truth about Nat’s death will be explained by Clint and Yelena will finally know the full truth
Just as I've been saying in subcomments above. Yelena is super-smart and can suss out bullshit. And she'll find out that Clint loved Natasha more than anyone else. She's going to leave Valentina's/Ross' squad and joining Kate Bishop in Young Avengers and/or West Coast Avengers (with White Vision).

I'm with both of you. Surprised at some of the meh reviews. Funny, moving, great action. Florence Pugh was amazing. The only real flaw is the big bad was underwritten. Could have used another scene of Ray Winstone chewing scenery and being evil. But it wasn't really a movie about beating the big bad. It was about this found family forgiving each other, themselves, healing from a traumatic past. Beating the big bad was like a family bonding trip to Yosemite.
Just came here to literally say that very fact. When I saw her, I told my best friend that she looked familiar, then I watched the credits, and was like, I knew it!!!!!!
Your opinion maybe but even Taken was likely better than this. Possibly even the Family Guy episode that parodied Taken. Reality is the majority of human trafficking is for sex trade, (others being adoption, organ donation and slavery) not to train spy/assassins.
@@5353Jumper nah, the opening credits and showing the leader of the red room photographed with Bill Clinton and other famous government figures reflects just how much human trafficking is an industry these large public figures deal in. And in a Marvel movie too. A lot of people are too smooth brained to pick up on it, but the right people will
@@johnpatrick7426 ohh...you are one of those. Did it have images of Epstein and Maxwell in there too? And I am confused, are you saying Clinton was trafficking for sex slaves or for super spies?
The Taskmaster twist I do feel WAS necessary. Natasha could finally confront and make peace with the red ledger past that's been haunting her since the first Avengers movie. Ties up her character arc completely before her sacrifice. Though her sacrifice in Endgame would have struck a lot harder if we got her solo movie before it.
imho Yelena was the highlight of this movie. I liked her mannerisms, comedic timing, backstory etc... I'm very intrigued in seeing how Val and her team factor into everything going from here.
Why could she not speak 20 languages? she knew ruski english and russian....what kind of agent is that, how can she infiltrate anything except in russia? pretty worthless
@@AlexLloyd24 I feel like even with COVID this should have came out a while ago. Like after Civil War. The only connection to anything recent in the timeline is the end credits scene
@@AlexLloyd24 I think they meant "years ago" as in Phase 2, or at least between Infinity War and Endgame to give her loss more poignancy. ScarJo was pushing for it long before the first Wonder Woman film in the DCEU. I think that was Feige's LONE failure, though maybe he had been blinded a bit by his CEO cap before he became CCO.
I loved this movie, but I was so disappointed in Taskmaster. I'm a big fan of Taskmaster from the comics, so to see one of my favorite characters reduced to a worse Winter Soldier, stripped of all interesting backstory from the comics, mind controlled for the whole film, and missing half of the powers he/she's supposed to have was such a heart breaking moment considering it's likely we'll never see Taskmaster done justice in a live action movie because the MCU is not ending any time soon so all Taskmaster adaptations will be in video games and tv shows, not movies.
@@GFV28 Nope. They even named the character Antonia. They had no intention of doing this character justice. It was just a throw away character for them. The MCU dismantled Taskmaster like Deadpool with Weapon XI.
I agree 100% but correct me if I’m wrong, in the comics black widow has super soldier qualities so she can fight with a beefed up taskmaster while in the movies she is just a trained assassin so it would not be a fair match for her if taskmaster had the abilities she/he does in the comics.
Great reaction, for me it’s a 9/10, I loved everything about it, Florence Pugh was absolutely fantastic as Yelena, Red Guardian was awesome, only thing that could have made it a higher rating would be a little more Taskmaster because them fight scenes were great and the fact that Taskmaster can mimic anyone’s fighting style could have been even better, Yelena for me was the star for sure , also it was hilarious her making fun of Natasha for the superhero posing and than she did it herself and said disgusting
ScarJo was so deeply involved with this project from the beginning, I'm quite certain she had a hand in getting those lines inserted so she and Pugh could make light of Favreau's and Whedon's sexualization of the character, which she's been very vocal about in criticising for years. Very hilarious moments. I bet even Favreau and Whedon love it.
Was a lot of adlibing. The posing mockery came about when Florence was asking stunt people about trying to find a pose for her. They told her they was unrealistic and would break bones.I think one of the producers overheard her and decided to put it in the movie
Yelena and Natasha fighting in the safe house had me nostalgic for fighting my younger (and at one point blonde before he grew out of it into light brown hair) in our parents’ house as kids, especially the “truce” part. 😹
I dont think most people remember. But in the Avengers when they have Loki locked up her mentions Drakov's daughter being the red that has her ledger "dripping". Its insane that they referenced this important moment in Black Widows career so early in Phase 1.
Just watched this last night after initially having no interest to do so and really enjoyed it. Honestly think this is 1 of my favorite MCU movies. Very well done.👏🏾
I thought it was pretty fun to watch (of course it has all the dialogue flaws and silly story of spy/action/superhero films). I liked a lot of the jokes, fight choreography, setpieces and sound design. Pretty fun!
I always see people saying they didn’t like the gender swap for taskmaster, I personally don’t mind, it works better for the story with it being the daughter. I just didn’t like the way taskmasters powers were changed. It’s less impressive since it’s a chip in the neck, it takes away from how cool the comic taskmaster’s powers are imo
@@tedevelynmosby6944 I didn’t mean to insinuate that’s what u meant, that’s just what I see the most, and my problems are more with the actual character as well. I think they want us to feel bad for Antonia, because of what black widow did to her, but if she’s a mind controlled soldier with a combat-analyzing chip it’s harder to connect with the character
I went to the cinema with a friend to see this yesterday and we had a great time. We both rate it a 9. It is an amazing movie very well acted and a great story. I personally love what they did with Taskmaster. Would have been boring if the entire movie was her chasing Natasha. So yeah. Great Marvel comeback. And the aftercredits scene with Valentina was also just amazing.
@Kryptoskillet it has to fit the story though. And this fitted Natasha's story very well. And we have a multiverse so we could always have another Taskmaster later on.
When Jen asked are they gonna lose money by releasing the movie like this? The answer is they absolutely will. Anytime you do something like this you're gonna lose money, but Disney knows because of the pandemic, the financial side of things is a lose, lose situation, so they've gotta deal with it.
This was definitely the best they could do. At least California is full capacity in theaters now. I think New York, too. There was clearly timidity of people eager to go, since I was able to add seats to the ones I got weeks before just four days before the Thursday showing. It was pretty full during, though. $30 is great for a family of four, but steep for those living alone. Feige was the final executive insisting on waiting on the release, and pushed it back as long as he could to give ScarJo the billion dollar box office she deserves, but he couldn't delay the Phase 4 line-up any longer. Hawkeye finished shooting in April for a late fall release, and out of the first three new films, this was the biggest tentpole with a known character to put out early summer. I think it will do fine. After all, Bond and Kingsman and Top Gun were all pushed back to the fall, so this will probably be the summer's biggest film, easily. I don't even think people need to know much about Marvel at all to enjoy the Bourne/Bond sort of plot/action.
@@kjaime7030 Exactly. Well said. It was pretty much the best they could do with a situation like this. For at least the distant future we're gonna need to have some new box office expectations for a still current and post covid box office. And yes, my theater was pretty full as well. It was a little weird to be honest
Depending on how hard they push, they can get some, Fast and Furious has already passed 500 million and Black Widow could possibly do this, not that it is a 1 billion movie but it could gave gotten around 700 to 800 million
The Constant Gardener was the film that really won me over for her. She was fun in The Mummy but underutilized for sure, and cute in About A Boy. But she is an excellent actress. Teh first thing I said during this film was in the opening scenes, when I exclaimed, "Damn, this de-aging work is getting better and better!" Because she looked so young!
I live in Ohio and got to see this in a movie theater, when young black widow says “I just want to go back to Ohio!” the theater started laughing and multiple people shouted “why???” What’s even funnier about this is when I talked to my other friends who had seen it everyone had that exact same experience in the theater lol nobody hates Ohio more than Ohioans!
Oh wow didn't think of that cause he said are you calling me a liar. So yea he did but not as cap this is a theory I like and would love to see. Maybe in a Disney tv show.
Idk how that works honestly, cause according to the Russo brothers Cap creates an alternate reality when he stays in the past and that reality branches out into its own separate from the original timeline, and since Natasha is dead I'm assuming this is the original timeline so the Alexi from that timeline couldn't have faced Cap because Cap was in a separate one.
@@Smileyreal y'know how the Ancient One told Hulk that if one Stone was missing their reality would branch out into another, that's what the Russo Brother's said happened with the reality Cap was in because he stayed there and then when was shown sitting down as his old self it was because he returned back. Not my words I'm just quoting what I remember, I'm pretty sure there's a video of them saying it in an interview. I haven't gotten caught up with Loki so I wouldn't argue about the time travel myself.
@@Smileyreal Recent events in the MCU specifically support the idea of multiple timelines though? Prime timeline Cap went to a different timeline. That Cap may have interacted with that Red Guardian, but it wouldn't be the Prime timeline Red Guardian. So he's just lying... and/or confusing him with Isaiah.
That’s one of the nit picks I have as well. The makeup department did a pretty lackluster job of displaying injuries. When black widow get beaten by all the other widows she barley had a scratch on her
Yeah that was interesting. In previous films I had assumed she had a much weaker Russian super soldier serum knock off or something. She has that in some comics, and is often decades older than she looks. But nope she is just a regular tough 90’s kid.
That beginning shook my dad. He outright called it too disturbing to watch again. And not much rattles him. This film definitely nailed making you feel the emotional moments.
@narmaK oh, I said it’s a great film 😂. Just compared to the rest of the mcu I think its average. In the movie industry as a whole I think it’s very good
I had so much fun watching this! Florence Pugh is an incredible actress. I think the only other movie I've seen her in is Midsommer, and she was awesome in that movie as well. I expected a good performance going in and I agree, she stole the show in a GOOD way. I'm super excited to see more of her.
The post credit scene could lead to Yelena going after Clint and then Clint tells her what happened how Natasha died. And together they go after Christina and her team, with like zemo, american soldier and others, that would be awesome
It felt like a James Bond spy movie because that's the point. That's why there's a scene in the beginning where Natasha was watching James Bond Moonraker. It also foreshadowed what was going on later in the movie. Also, THEY ARE NOT A BIOLOGICAL FAMILY.
I think this movie is a prime example of how to show girl power. I watched the whole movie without once thinking they’re over doing it or fisting it down my throat like captain marvel. Love a great female led movie
I don't think Captain Marvel was that bad at it either... There were one or two things that might be bad , but I think the real issue with Captain Marvel was that they didn't give us any real reason to care about her as a character... Where she might have made growth, we didn't really see... She decided to overload her inhibiter, but how does that really play into her character and journey well? It was an ok film, but I didn't care about her... I'm not sure making her so powerful so quickly was great either... If there's no major struggle, that seems a bit cheap too... But yeah, Black Widow was pretty good. I kinda wish Red Guardian was a bit less of a joke and I'm not sure about the Taskmaster changes... Not sure Ray Winston was convincing as a Russian, although I kinda liked him as a villain anyway lol... Otherwise it was pretty good.
@@KitsyX yea. The only real issue I have with this film is the taskmaster. Ngl I’m kinda getting bored of these one time villains. I think the reveal made no sense as she should have died and it would have been a lot better if after the big crash of the red room we just see taskmaster walking away. Then they could have had them come back whenever they want. They’re such an interesting villain with, I think, I unique ability so I was kinda disappointed. But over all it was alright
@@rago_rob3964 Well, they could still come back, she didn't actually die did she? If she did, there's the chance that someone took her body and copied the tech to make another Taskmaster or something... But I get what you mean.

David harbour steals the show by far, he was awesome. I want to see more of the red guardian for sure. I liked taskmaster too, that was a cool tie in, instead of taskmaster just being this hired assassin. Overall a good movie
I was thinking that this would be a good movie to watch after Civil War, apparently a couple thought the same thing. In the end credit scene they showed BWs grave… Their convo Girl: She died?!? Guy: Ya…. We haven’t watched that yet
that post credit scene hit me in the feels for natasha for end game. And then the flip where they showed barton as the reason she dies? My emotions flipped so quick for that end credit scene. Got to be my favorite end credit scene so far out of any movie.
I know everyone is loving the sister, probably because she has the funny lines, but honestly I still think Scarlett is the better actress and she had the better action scenes and I still love to watch her. This movie actually made me care about Natasha''s death more and now I really want her back. Her sister might be a fun character but in my opinion not a replacement for the real Black Widow.

My only problem with the film was it felt like they forgot she was black widow and not captain America. She took way too much damage, kept getting hit by cars, falling off buildings, getting rockets shot at her car and blowing up She died like ten times in this movie But, letting that go, I did enjoy it, and it's always a treat to watch scarjo, plus I loved her sister Yelena, she was just awesome.
