Recorded in 2009 - the exile band: un|broken album
a bruised reed He will not break, and a faintly burning wick He will not quench
Isaiah 42:3
All of us have tasted brokenness at some stage of our lives. To deny this also exists in our walk of faith would be dishonest as we find ourselves sometimes confused, even angry as we try to understand God’s will and purpose. This album emerges from that struggle, so clearly seen in the Psalms, of God’s people longing to serve Him with a fervour born of love, despite doubts and despair at the evil in the world, the church and ourselves that causes us to see ‘through the glass darkly’.
Having been broken before Him though, with the reality of our sins and our failures, we find ourselves un|broken, forgiven, lifted in praise and adoration of our Lord Jesus Christ, the King of glory, Lord of lords and the Author of our faith.
This album is dedicated to all those involved in the struggle of life, love and righteousness with the prayer of the exile band that you will come through the battles to know Him closer than a brother.
How Great You Are
(Psalm 139:1-18)
by Rebecca Hardie
Soloists: Steph Macleod & Rebecca Hardie
Based on Psalm 139. I wanted to write a song in which I could just abandon everything; past concerns, future worries, and present pressures, to kneel down and worship my God proclaiming "Oh Lord, My God How Great You Are!"
O Lord, You've searched me and You know my every thought.
You know when I will sit and when I rise.
Before a word is formed You know what I will say,
O Lord, my God how great You are.
O Lord, You saw me long before my days began,
You formed me in the deep and hidden place.
You wrote the days for me before they came to be;
O Lord, my God how great You are.
So I kneel to worship You,
And I bow in awe of You,
Oh there's nothing I could bring
Of worth to You my King,
O Lord my God, how great You are.
O Lord, there's nowhere I could go to flee from You;
In the heavens or the depths I find You there.
To You the dark is light, the night shines like the day;
O Lord, my God how great You are.
How precious are Your thoughts O Lord,
there's more of them than grains of sand -
and as I wake O Lord, I'm still with You.
