In this video, I am sharing my google phone interview. Google interviews for Software Development engineering are always tricky. Unfortunately, I failed these interviews, but it is always good to share your failure so that you and other people can learn and improve yourself.
Here is the link to my GitHub, where I have uploaded the questions I solved to prepare for the various interviews.

Hello, awesome video thank you for sharing your experience with us. I wanted to apply as an intern to FAANG as a grad student in Comp Sci, my undergrad was in Computer engineering. Do you think that's a smart strategy as compared to applying after graduation from a graduate program? TL;DR should I apply as an intern in a grad program or should I apply to FAANG after graduating from comp sci grad program? Thank you!
@thesiliconstreet
@thesiliconstreet 2 года назад
Applying will not hurt so I will say keep applying for internship if you get it is good either way. This is because companies convert can also offer full-time job after internship. If you couldn't get internship then you can always apply through new graduate program. This is really important because if you don't take advantage of both internship or new grad then you will have to prepare very hard for interviews later.

I just failed my Google phone screen interview. The problem was medium difficulty at most, and I felt that my solution was good, so I was surprised not to hear back from my recruiter, so I pinged her about a week after the interview and she confirmed that I'd failed. Not only that, she preemptively said that she could not provide feedback regarding what I did right or wrong. I genuinely don't know what I did wrong, no clue. I keep thinking over my memory of the problem statement to see if there was a more efficient solution, but can't come up with anything better.
@thesiliconstreet
@thesiliconstreet 2 года назад
Yes. It happens. Also recruiters cannot share the feedback as people can argue with them about the solution. I would suggest do some mock interviews then you will know where you might have made mistakes. Sometimes we don't know what mistakes we make.

So, here is a quick tip, the interviewer must have found that it was not solvable under the stipulated time, and thus chose to ask that to see if you have done your research, Had you encountered that similar question on the Web, you would have rebutted saying *hey look I know it's not possible, but i am willing to take the challenge together and see how close we can come to find the answer within the time frame.* That my friend should have been your answer. Nothing is straightforward in the FAANG / MAANG interview everything is Jalebi.

I completely agree with your answer. Now working in one of these companies, I am able to understand his motive behind that question. And in real life this is how the problems are in any company. You will have very less idea about the task you will be working on and you have to learn to explore and solve it together. thanks for your comment.

Interviewers are not perfect they choose their own questions often times picking questions which they know the solution of but also know they couldn't solve themselves if they were in the same position...it's impostor syndrome

I have my Google phone screening Interview in 10 days can you please suggest me list of questions to prepare for it please.
@thesiliconstreet
@thesiliconstreet 5 месяцев назад
You can prepare anything from medium to hard. Dfs, Bfs, trees, bst. The questions in Google are tricky so no matter what you prepare, the main thing is you have to find the logic on your own.
@thesiliconstreet

In Google they are looking for problem solver. So first 10 min discuss with him the problem. Conversation is important.

How did you plan your prep from scratch to complete it in one month for telephone Interview ? Could you please tell how many problems and from where you have solved in that one month. Thank you!
@thesiliconstreet
@thesiliconstreet 2 года назад
For my first Google phone interview I did the 1 month practice which is not sufficient and I have solved 100+ problems from leetcode which includes easy and some medium. For second attempt which is after 2 years I think, I already solved around 200-300 problems which includes more of Medium and hard questions.

@@thesiliconstreet I will not recommend Algo Experts, it has good set of problems but again they do not have testcase execution timeout unless it is very bad solution (example infinite loop etc). Leetcode is better in that manner as it times out for slightly un-optimized solutions as well. Try out problem solving skill for Google. They do not want you to write a lot of code on docs, just think of a wise and good solution if you can come out with... then later you can code it as well.

helpful content bro but, maybe next time don't try the accent it's off-putting and feels fake.
@thesiliconstreet
@thesiliconstreet 2 года назад
I agree Anubhav that Indians using accent always sounds fake and sometimes even worst 😂 I agree completely but you know we have to create videos for vast majority of audience so they mostly look for American accent as they can understand it. Also in this video I was unknowingly using accent may be because I don't even realized until someone pointed it out.

I completely disagree love the intro in native English. In general foreign accents can distracting except maybe French people speaking English that’s ultra cool (fyi I dislike my own accent). And please don’t use the “it’s nothing but” in future. It’s so overused. Just added my sub! You’ll be at 1,000 subs soon !!
