@@JustIcelandicI would love to know more about the north west of Iceland, there seems to be a lot of geography and geology packed into a very small area
Amazing footage so far of an incredibly beautiful island. I am truly looking forward with excitement to see more of that beautiful volcano landscape. Thank you so much for delivering that to us!
This was amazing tour despite the problems and it's fun to work with those files that worked out well, and it's going to be even better when I start using the new drone :(
10:27 i can't tell You how much i love this scene!!!! It looks like the mountain is swallowing the house!! A moment frozen in time! Beyond that is the brilliant construction of the house in that spot! Icelandic ingenuity on full display !:-) 💜🙏
Wonderful video, the landscape of Iceland is breathtakingly beautiful, thank you for all the new videos and your informative explanations. Will be waiting to see your first video with your new drone! Thanks again. B
Absolutely love the content, Gylfi! Your channel is easily one of my favorites on RU-vid! Things sure got busy quickly, but I look forward to seeing all of the additional footage from all the different areas and systems you captured! Thank you for the amazing videos!
Today is the first cool day in Ontario Canada as well as the blue moon for August. Then, next week it could go to 32C… higher than it’s been all summer. I appreciate your video today. Beautiful as always. Here’s hoping your friend with the Jeep has time to take you out when your new equipment arrives. Best regards from Ontario.
Wonderful video, it is so easy to forget how rarely explored and documented these areas are. Every visit is a a fleeting moment and the land can change in an instant. I wished I could be walking there, taking in the enormity of volcanism and tectonics.
I postponed viewing this video for a couple of days to make sure to have the time to fully enjoy it and I was not disappointed. Sorry to hear of your technical problems, but the footage is again breathtakingly beautiful ❤. Looking forward to the results of your new equipment and thank you again!
This was amazing! Such beautiful footage! Just lovely! And you are going to make it even better! so excited for you! And me too! Can't wait to see what your vision is! Thank you for sharing!
Dear Gylfi, amazing footage and so many thanks for your time and effort and not at least drone flying. I been flying over and seen so many videos of Iceland but it makes a huge difference then you know what you are looking at. Love your comments about hotdogs at Eldgjá 🙂 - I wonder if I get to see such huge volcano eruption (there was a time it was normal).
Thanks a lot for your kind words, those major eruptions occur every 3-400 years as I understand things so I haven't been expecting such an event during my lifetime, I was however reading an interview with a volcanologists just a few days ago, and he's concerned that Katla might blast off big time since it's not erupted since 1918, but Bárðarbunga and Grímsvötn could also get nasty soon.
Your videos are just so breathtaking! Thank you again for sharing them. This really brought home just how incredible, and disastrous a serious Icelandic earthquake can be. What do you do if you have car trouble out there in the back country? Can you get cell service? Do the Rescue Teams come to help?
Thank you so much! and yes, a SAR team are actually moving around there during summer but it's also plenty of jeeps around and no problem to get some help from tourists around :)
Hi Gylfi.. Geology Hub did a video naming three of most destructive super volcanoes.. one was Askja and one was Taupo here in New Zealand.. two of the most beautiful Island nations on earth! Love your videos! ❤
Awesome footage. It's great that the places I've looked at on the map, now I can visually see what the landscape actually looks like, so many volcanic features. Just wow.
Good evening from the Netherlands, With all the problems you had, still great drone footage. With a bit increasing of the contrast and saturation in the video software you can make things pop if needed. Thanks for this video.
@@JustIcelandic in photography, I use raw format. In that would be possible with filming, we would have the possibility to improve those dark areas also. Skylum Neo can do magic with raw photo’s. I would like that program to to film footage too.
Thank you for sharing your last trek out to the major volcano areas! Your work is much appreciated, great videos from your drones and explanations of what we are seeing. I also love the maps and I am getting a great education about Iceland from you. I am from Maryland in the USA and have loved geology my whole life , studied it in college. I was very lucky I got to visit Iceland in 1991! I had to come back this year in May and really got to explore many cool places. I plan to return often now that I am retiring from work. First thing I am doing is getting my commercial drone pilot license, buying a new drone and going back to Iceland! Stay safe in your travels and good work.
Thanks for yet another awesome video. Just a thought, following your gimbal issues with the Air 2S. Do you have a portable landing pad for your drones? I've watched live streams from Isak Finnbogason and he uses one rigorously. It seems to provide a clean landing area.
Yes I have but I suspect it's an issue since the drone did an emergency landing by the volcano on burned soil with ash all around, think I will have it fixed and keep it as a bakcup, I needed that during this tour
Good video! sorry you had drone problems You finally get to go up there nad then hat happens, well I guess be thankful your car didn't break dow huh? lol Its always something though right? now your going to have to get a backup drone for your drone! haha. Its mind boggling to think that big V in the ground was shooting lava in the air at one time! that must have been a sight to see although I'm pretty sure no one back then wanted to see it or for it to happen. Its amazing to see all the lava beds knowing how much it took for that to happen and how long! Well.. good luck on the next trip and getting the drone fixed.
Great Video, glad your drone plans are coming together 10:18 I just wanted to appreciate the pragmatism of this building. Is it just a Barn or something else?
Very beautiful! Thank you 😊 I’m happy you’re still making content even when it’s quiet at the moment. ❤ I also really like the maps you use, very helpful! I’m glad these systems are watched closely by scientists so there is as much warning as possible, ❤
I was just scrolling through my back catalog of "watch later" and found this video that I never watched. Absolutely stunning footage, in spite of drone issues, and even more appreciated history of Iceland's geology and history. The 'back story' of Iceland is something I appreciate and learn from in your videos. Thank you!
Ooooh 😁 - looking forward to more of the new stuff when you have time to process it. I’m guessing you’ll get the damaged drone repaired as a back-up when time and finds allow. 🙂 If you saw tourist groups in Thórsmörk, you may have glanced at my niece. You two might have been there at the same time. 😁
Loved this evenings introductory briefing! I would love to contribute to your new drone, but do not know how, or where, to do this. Hlýjar kveðjur frá Mön xxxxx
If I ever get to go to Iceland you will have spoiled me for the landscape! Can it be as beautiful in person and from the ground as it is in the best lighting, from the best angles from above?
It's F206 near Kirkjubæjarklaustur and then it's a ring road around the crater row, in total 110km back and forth from Highway one. It's a lame road and I recommend a whole day for this :)
Despite your initial tech troubles you managed to capture stunningly beautiful footage. I wouldn't miss a single frame of it. When firdt coming to your channel a couple of years ago I never imagined your country is so breathtakingly beautiful ! Whith each of your videos I discover more beauty! Thanks for sharing! Btw: you mentioned Grimsvötn volcano: Yesterday I read on a German volcanologist's website that a glacier flow has started there. What are Iceland' s scientists opinions on this? Will the pressure relief start a new eruption? Thanks for sharing any actual insights! Best wishes and looking forward to new footage
Great stuff, Gylfi! Good to see that you're planning ahead for great content to post on the channel through the winter. Looking forward to seeing in detail the awesome landscapes for which this video was only a teaser. Thanks for your continuing work in building what is sure to become a favorite channel for many folks who are fascinated by Iceland's geography, geology, and history.
Thanks Gylfi, you showed us some truely amazing landscapes of Iceland. Fun fact: mount Laki was already there before the 1783 eruption. The fissure that opened also tried to split that mountain in two but no lava flowed out of that. When hiking the mountain, you can see these scars on the mountain but only when you know what you're looking for.
Some good things can happen from what may seem like a setback, you decided to buy a more advanced drone that will actually work much better for you. Had you not had the problem with the other drone you might not have this better one for yrs. 👍🏻 Funny how things often work out for the best. 🙂
