The reason why Ika can be so open with having her inlaws over is because she knows how to draw boundaries. So important for anyone watching this to understand. Women, we tend to like being told "oh you're so nice, understanding etc", but that can never truly be the case if someone is not able to draw boundaries!
This is so true, however people testing your boundaries is still exhausting. Your own parents are one thing but with your S.O parents is a whole other level of boundary energy drainage lol even if you love them and they’re great people it’s bound to happen and be exhausting when someone is living in your space
I mean my dad did that once (basically invited my grandparents to stay over without discussing it with her) and my mom was pissed. Mostly i love my grandparents but they know nothing about personal space. My grandma has bursted into the bathroom while my mom was showering to hand her the phone bc one of my moms friends called which i dont think they should have been answering someone elses phone to begin with. Also bc we dont have a guest room bc my mom and dad sleep separately bc my dad snores really loud and wakes up at 4am and goes to bed around midnight a lot of the time and its a very unique sleep schedule that just doesnt work for my mom bc once someone wakes her up she cant go back to sleep. But being there then she would need to vacate her room to sleep in my dads room. Although tbf my grandparents on my mom side also stayed over for 2 weeks bc they came from taiwan to america. My dad didnt mind tho. Although tbf my grandparents on my moms side are more reserved and also my grandma helped organize the entire garage that was a mess and did a lot of cleaning. That was probably the cleanest our house had ever been.

Yes! We Jamaican heritage people roll just like that! We moved from England to Canada as a family of 6 and stayed with my aunt and uncle from July to December! We became a family of 13 for that length of time!

My friend divorced her husband after he pulled the same thing like this on her. He told her that his parents were just visiting from overseas but ended up permanently living in their house and controlling her home. They kept gaslighting her they were leaving but years later still never left and actually still live there today. Us ladies need to have boundaries because there’s a lot of toxic men who lie and take advantage of our kindness.
😂😂😂😂Jamaicans are very similar to Pacific Islanders. My parents lived with me for years then my sister and her husband moved back to New Zealand with their son and lived with us. At one stage we had 5 adults and 6 teenagers living in 1 house 😩it was chaos most of the time. There’s always someone cooking something. On top of that we have visitors going in and out of the house.
