Terrific greenhouse, Phil! I wish that I had a greenhouse. Anyway, I'm in Texas and I propagate figs and roses without a greenhouse year-round. During the growing season, I leave my cuttings outside under a tree or bush. There's sufficient humidity here to leave them uncovered. I have good success. I gradually move them into a sunny location when they are established.
Great to hear, I think I’m going to start moving the operation outside as soon as my low temps get above 65°F the temperature swings have been rough in the greenhouse here recently!
I added a 60% shade cloth to my hobby greenhouse last year. I also added 2 solar fans. Made a world of difference. Look into the automated piston vent as well. You can set it to vent at whatever temp you want.
I’m in 9B in central Florida and I just cut and propagate a 23 fig trees, so is it best to keep them outside in full sun, or mostly in the shade in partial sun throughout the day?
I think for cuttings that partial sun and shade is best to avoid any stress from intense solar exposure that can dry out or break down the cutting. When it’s leafed out and rooted then you can plant introduce it to the full heat of the sun
