DO NOT FEED YOUR GUINEA PIG ONIONS! Months later I realized I said that in this video instead of red bell peppers 🤦♀️ PLEASE buy and support your locally owned pet stores!!! If you do not have that option, I have links in the description to the exact foods and supplies I buy.
Hi Guinea Pig Jungle! Just a question: When should guinea pigs stop eating Alfalfa hay & pellets? Please answer its important because I'm getting guinea pigs in a week and a half! I'm excited!
you need to check out haybox.com. i get hay for my rabbits there.the hay comes in a huge cardboard box. its filled to the brim. two boxs (about 3.2kg) lasted me 4 months. i have two small rabbits. just a suggestion hopes this helped x
@@samanthadabulis6136 Nope! I haven't had ANY problems and I've been ordering for quite a while now! I've tried Oxbow and Kaytee before however, Small Pet Select is MUCH softer than Oxbow and Kaytee. It's really based on your preference and you can try a sample for free! Just go with what you'll like!
The only thing with that kind of hay is that there may be things in that hay and you don’t really know what’s all in it. Just to caution you! Not trying to be rude!
I’ll be testing out this recipe for 50 lbs of botanical hay for those who would like to make a large batch and keep it as a treat all year below I’ll have a 25 lb recipe and a 50 lb recipe : Recipe: 25 lbs (oxbow orchard grass or Timothy) 8 oz dried lavender blossoms 8 oz dried lemon verbena 8 oz dried red clover blossoms 8 oz dried Hibiscus flower 8 oz dried camomile Store in a storage container and tada no more paying $6 for small bags of botanical hay 🥰 if you want 50 lbs double recipe ! All flowers in this recipe can be purchased on Amazon in bulk/kosher/organic on Amazon ♥️
I'm living in the Netherlands and I bought just a few days ago hay from a locale farmer. And I couldn't stop telling my husband how happy I am with the hay I bought!! Never thought that that day would come in my life lol. For only 5 euro (4,5 dollar) i have so so so much hay right now, like one mtr by 50 cm by 60cm or so. I mean thats a lot for only 2 piggies. It smells so good, its fresh green. And the piggies love it also so much--> popcorn party !! I know the struggle of finding good hay that also is a little bit affordable. At stores, in my opinion, thats not possible. Atleast here in Holland. So I'm glad that I found this farmer for this really cheap and hay that is so good.
I keep commenting like a stalker but I love this channel! I bought my pigs premium Timothy hay. This stuff looked so good that I could've blanced it for 30 seconds and ate it myself . Ungrateful rodents wouldn't touch it
I dont have Guinea pigs but I have rabbits and they really love the hay from small pet select and rabbit hole hay they sell smaller packs so you can try all there different hays to see what your critters love. my rabbits hate oxbow idk why but I cant get them to eat that stuff lol
Abby! You are so kind to say all this🥺☺️ Josh does such a good job with editing and picking music. I’m so thankful for him in so many ways💞 thank you for supporting us and being so nice. I hope you are doing well and have a good school year. Stay focused!! 💟💟💟
Check out The Natural Cavy on Etsy. He gets JR Farms pea flakes, but he gets rid of the tiny pieces and crumbs and only sells the large flakes. He has lots of homemade treats too! I had been getting Oxbow Orchard and Timothy hay, but I haven't been too happy with the quality lately in the larger boxes. I just ordered from Small Pet Select. Hopefully that will be better! Also, you pick up poop like I do!
small pet select hay is so good, i have really bad allergies and this is the only hay that doesn't give me allergies. plus my piggy loves this hay! and theyre very cheap and come in big boxes.
Two piggies were gifted to our family of 7. Freaking out but my kids are excited. I have lots of learning to do to educate myself and my kiddos. Thanks for this video.
I've heard two different things for hay percentage I hear 80% is best 10%grain 8%veggies and 2%treats it's all confusing but we do unlimited amount hay one bowl oxbow grain and one bowl veggies aday also oxbow bladder and vitamin c treats once a day and they are around 8 years old so I must be doing something right vet said they are very healthy and loved I should add we have four girl's 🥰
I go to guinea dad for literally everything including Hay!! I use a liter box for my 2 babies and put the box of hay right in there. It’s keeps all the bedding nice and clean and I don’t have to clean out the cage as often. Of course spot cleaning everyday and cleaning the litter box a every few days. LOVE ❤️
I don't give any pellets anymore 🤭 I joined an online course about guinea pig feeding. I learned so much, especially how bad pellets actually are :o Now they only get plants from outside (except in the winter, because of snow :D), leafy greens (but my list is way longer :D) , different kales and sometimes vegetables :) And I live your colorful tunnels
wait pellets from pet stores are bad? I have one guinea pig (planning on getting a second one very soon) and I never knew that pellets are bad for them, what kinds of food is better? is there a link to the online course I can get so I can research more about it? please reply this is pretty important to me!
@@melody6140 Yeah I did not know that either. But pellets make the piggies eat less, which is the reason why the teeth are too long quite often. Another reason is that the jaw is not made for the movement it needs to eat the pellets. the teeth can break very easily. The online course I followed is in German and so are the websites I studied. But with google translate you could try to read it (depending on where you're from) If you would like to, you can contact me on Instagram @mini_fluffy_bum I can send you the links there if you'd like to! :)
Btw, Small pet select hay is excellent, the 2nd cutting is great. Also, you can get 10lb boxes of Standlee timothy hay on Amazon for 20.00$, tax included! I mix the long strand Standlee timothy with Small pet Select 2nd cutting, and the piggies love it! Standlee also has 10lb boxes of orchard hay, you can mix that in also. I've had piggies about 4 years now, so I've used so many brands, but this one is the best, and least expensive.
Yaaayy I'm the person that told you about the werewolf skinny pig :) keep posting vidioes I love watching them as I'm sure many other people do too. I can't believe how much you've grown when I was here last you were at like 300 something subscribers so great job. Another RU-vid channel for guinea pigs I recommend you watch is Scotty`s animals he's awesome.
Im so happy to see your genuine love for your pig babies 💞😭 I've just now at 28 yrs old discovered how passionate I am about this new live style since adopting 2 skinny pigs! My life is forever changed lol
Right!? If you would have asked me 10 years ago If I saw myself at 36 years old with 12 guinea pigs I would have laughed in your face! Hahaha life is funny. But you are right... get one and if you are a true piggy person, you life is forever changed. We are a rare breed... but at the same time now that I'm on youtube there are so many of us!xo🐹😝
@@GuineaPigJungle I love so much that you have a whole room for them 💕 thanks for sharing with the world your dedication to your lil' guinea babies, truly inspirational!!
I just got 2 piggies “for my children” and it has changed my life! I’m obsessed. Their space has my chair and it’s just my zone now. Where’s mom? She’s with the pigs. What amazing animals!
I buy orchard grass only due to allergies. The best of the best is small pet select & is $71.99/40 lbs w auto ship. Oxbow has been hit or miss & now is around $75/50 lb Sherwood is top notch pellets bc it’s filler free. I had to switch to Oxbow Garden Select bc it’s soy & wheat free. Guinea dad are my favorite pea flakes I have to get oxbow supplements bc they will not eat Sherwood’s pill looking ones. I’m not thrilled bc of the fillers but I don’t have a choice. I use Misfits Market for their veggies bc it’s organic & cheaper than the store, usually. Plus it ships to the house. For recovery food, I use Sherwood bc critical care from oxbow has fillers. Corn husks are a fav. I get bell peppers, lettuce, carrots, fennel bulb, yellow squash, zucchini, parsley, cilantro, tomatoes, dill. It all at once. It depends on what I wanna buy weekly.
You should be able to tell if they stop coexisting well together. It will be very obvious. And being that they are both female you will have a better chance of them continuing to getting along fine.
We use a second cutting of rabbit hole hay. We go through Chewy.com, but they also have their own website. We got a sample of a first , second, and third cutting of the hay. Our pigs liked second cutting the best. We get a 20 lb box every 6 to 8 weeks.
So just found your channel and looking at your cage set up as I also have a cat... but noticed your comments about pea flakes...the quality differences is actually based on how they are made. Nothing to do with flavor. There's an Australian rescue that did a video on how to make your own.. the flatter version is from blending in mixer and making a paste, spreading it out and then breaking it up. The round one is from the flattening of each individual split pea. I'm actually going to try the paste method today as I dont have the patience to flatten each pea!
My piggies will only eat Small Pet Select second cutting timothy hay. I have tried others but they will not eat it. I buy SPS pellets too. I buy the non-gmo soy free pellets. They love these items but my wallet does not. But what you put into them matters. They all look great!
I make my own pea flakes. Just take raw peas or good quality can peas. Strain the water off. Roll them out flat, then place on a cookie sheet. then pop them in the oven on 300 or 400. Watch it so it doesn't burn. Once crispy or dry...break into little pieces. They will go crazy for them.
GIRL!!!! You are absolutely amazing and funny as hell! Please keep the videos coming! You are honestly the most relatable RU-vidr when it come to the piggies! Thank you for the videos! 🥰
I hope you plan to get her a friend. You never have just 1 because they need another pig for emotional support. Tell your friends to always get hem in pairs. ☺️
I tried countless different brands over the past 6 1/2 years and I have finally found one that is consistently great quality! "Small Pet Select" first cutting ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐! They also have 2nd cutting if some of your piggies need or prefer that.
I have the pets at home hay which my guineas really like and I will recommend as it's half alpalpha hay and half meadow hay, I am hopefully soon going to get some more alpalpha hay to mix in as it's not very grassy and more golden and tough and for my pellets I have a mix of musilies and a some hard vitamin pellets.
Oh I'm so glad to hear that! It is definitely a learning process. And some pigs will eat certain pellets and some won't. good luck with your journey!🐹🐹
The Oxbow orchard/Timothy hay is loved by all piggies but unfortunately pricier and some bags are waaaaay better than others. I get the 50lb box of 1st cut from Small Pet Select. Lasts MONTHS and my pigs won’t pick any other hay over it. They just love it. Even when they’re in Oxbow moods and I’m giving them more Oxbow orchard/Timothy mix, they get bored of it and wanna go back to their Small Pet Select 1st cut!
The hay that my pigs like and I like is the kaydee Timothy hay. And the alfalfa hay your supposed to feed to the young pigs 0-1 years old and the pregnant pigs, because it has a lot of calcium in alfalfa hay. I have two piggies and there names and breeds are snowball an american guinea pig her b-day is December 3rd 2019 And her sister Bella is a teddy bear guinea pig and her b-day is November 27 2019 and Bella's black and snowballs mostly white, black brown and grey.
Be extra careful with the ingredients in Critical Care (unfortunately I learned this the hard way at the expense of my one poor wittle piggie's health). If you have a piggie that stops eating and you aren't sure why, it's safer to grind up the pellets that they are currently eating daily and soak it in bottled water. Then syringe feed as you would Critical Care. 🐷🤍 I absolutely love your videos, thank you for sharing! MERRY PIGMAS!!!🎄❤💚❤💚❤💚
Thank you so much for the heads up! I will do more research. Thankfully I haven't had to use it yet. Hope you are your fur kids have a happy holiday!!🐹😍💓
Not sure where you are, but my guinea pigs love hay from the local horse feed store. We actually go and pick it up. They have 50 and 100 pound bales and it's only about $20 to $30. Saves so much money (I have 10 pigs so I need a lot of hay.) Then for storing I purchased 2 55 gallon totes from home depot ( i like the HDX Brand they are black and yellow) and I break up the bale and put it in there. I keep those bins inside a backyard shed. If I ever run out I get the stuff from Oxbow, but they are just so spoiled with the super fresh hay from the feed store that they aren't to fond of any bagged hay now. I know not everyone has the room to store that much hay, but if you can I highly recommend it. If no local feed stores then maybe look for a tractor supply store. They normally carry hay as well. oh when I buy the bale I normally go with Orchard.
Hey! We are actually going to be building another one in the next month or so. We are upgrading another cage. So we will make sure to get footage and film the process.
Small pet select is amazing!!! I buy the 12 lb 1st cut… my piggies love it!!! Thank you for your videos! You have beautiful piggies!!! Love&light from California 💗💗
before I used to buy my gp's hay From the pet store but it was way to expensive so I bought some from my local hay supplier or farm supplier and I spend $5 for 5 pounds of hay instead of like $ 15 -20. and yes. oxbow is one of the best brand for pets also living world has some great hay from my few experience ;)
I have four piggies. They really like KMS Hayloft. They aren’t crazy expensive and they have option on sizes. 1st and 2nd cut as well as their bluegrass and pellets is what have purchased. We also used guinea dad hay and pea flakes. Enjoying your videos!
I use selective pellets that's the best one but I use other pellets too my piggys won't eat pea flakes sooo I mix it in their meals they eat it that way karii x 😇
A hay brand that I use and It works so well my piggies love it is the Katee Timothy hay and my bunny loves it too and it isn't expensive BTW LOVE your videos you make guinea care so much fun and your really funny!
I love your channel and please keep making videos! Just one little thing is don’t give them the bud end of the lettuce because it might have pesticides on it, but it’s not a big deal! (I used to make the same mistake)
We use oxbow orchard grass and we also order 50 lbs of bluegrass they love that as well 50 lbs of orchard can be found on Amazon now the bluegrass we order from KMS hayloft :) we also stick to soy free and grain free pellets !! Please do a fun pea flakes making video !🥰 if you’d like some cute cuddle cups for your piggies message me and let me know
Thank you so much this vid has helped me a lot I’m getting 2 piggies in January and. I was struggling to find the right brand and type this has helped me so much btw I love your vids xx☺️
