Thank you so much! I just finished recording my bands new album and finally, only during the recording sessions I feel that I finally found the best strengths and uses for both Gretschs.
Actually depends on the video and where I film. On this video, I used a Amp simulation I am experimenting, and on the new one (premiering on tomorrow morning) I recorded with the actual Cab with an SM57! We are making a new album with my band right now and I am just going full on Doctor Insano trying out everything and anything to find the best sound for the album :D
Hey Buddy I really enjoyed your video and I’m a massive fan of Gretsch guitars. I’m embarrassed to tell you how many guitars I have but I agree with you , 3 is all you need.. I have fond memories of Finland , my wife and I travelled there several years ago to go to Ruis Rock. I can’t wait to get back there again one day soon. Greetings from Japan, play often, play loud !
My wife really liked Rasmus ! I wasn't so happy going there just to see them but I couldn't believe how many other hard rock bands from Finland played there also, it was awesome. Tool was the main overseas band who were great. Do you guys still have Ruisrock ? Hopefully next year I can travel there next year from Japan. I really enjoy your RU-vid channel , That's the reason I bought a 5410T
@@malsmith475 Oh wow, so cool to hear all this! Yes, we still have ruisrock, however (not suprisingly) it did not happen this year because of covid. Me, I am not a big festival goer, but I really like to go to psychobilly and rockabilly events. In 2019 I was in Spain, to see the Psychobilly Meeting, a week long festival and that was totally my thing!
@@DeLaRockaMusic i own purple 135th anyversary electromatic, put tv jones classics and vintage style gretch brass bridge by aldrige, its cheap but awesome😀
Hello! 1st- I live is the US but I have Finland blood in me. I’ve always wanted to visit the motherland. So I’m glad I stumbled onto your channel. Excited for more of your videos! 2nd- I just bought the same Rat Rod you have. The Bigsby nut just fell off so the company I bought it from is sending me a new guitar to replace it. So I’m a little nervous to see if the same issue happens again. Have you had problems with the Bigsby nut falling off? 3rd- Do you have a sound comparison recorded of the Blacktop Fitertrons that came on the guitar and the TV Jones pickups you got?
Wow, hello to you too! So cool to hear you have some of the Finn-blood in you! :) I am sorry to hear that you had some problems with your Rat Rod, actually I had too! And I had plenty! The guitar would not stay on tune, and there were other problems too. I will make a full video talking about the problems actually, I hope I can make it really soon! I dont think I have comparison videos, but I will check. I was so hellbent on getting the TV Jones pickups so It didnt come to mind to record something with the old ones :D
@@DeLaRockaMusic Thanks for the reply. I will be looking forward to more videos on the rat rod. And no worries on the comparison videos. I was curious. I might try the TV jones classics further down the line
@@jimmidelay I filmed a new video yesterday and it will be released on Saturday morning (Finnish Time), It's gonna a be walkthrough of the gear I use! :)
Put some cool stickers or labels or get one of your fans to decorate the Takamine acoustic, change the High EBG strings by putting a little heavier strings on it, and you'll be inspired to play it more often. I also have 2 cheaper Martinez mini guitars which I keep tuned to Open G or alternative tuning, it's just easier than re-tuning them all the time.
Hi. I am deciding between the 5420 and the 5410. I'm loving the 5410 because it's a thinner body and the neck feels narrower but now I'm worried about the tuning problem. I also love the orange 5420. I'm stuck.
Hey hey hey! Sorry for the delayed answer! I have been super busy making a new album! So, this is a really tuff one. I had a lot of problems with the tuning of my 5410, but with 5420 i have never had any. Could be just bad luck...
What are those Brian Setzer pickups called? TV Jones Brian Setzer models or something different. because I haven't seen that look before with the middle part of the bar looks like its split bar like a rickenbacker bass pickup. I didn't know Brian Setzer made artist series pickups like that. What type of tone are those pickups since Brian Setzer did some special type of winding or what?
Hey Wayne! Thanks for your message! Yes, I do believe that the official name is TV Jones Brian Setzer signature pickups. As I don't have a lot of experience regarding other TV jones pickups, there's this really handy chart of what kind of tones to expect compared to the other models, maybe this will give just a little bit of a hint? tvjones.com/pickup-advisor
@@DeLaRockaMusic yes it seems so, I know that eddie Cochran used a P90 so maybe that is why Brian Setzer is trying to make it sound between a P90 and mini humbucker. Richard Fortus has a special designed picukp that is like Brian Setzer its a mix of a P90 and a filtertron
@@waynegram8907 Wow man, that's really interesting and makes sense. For the last year or so, I have been playing mostly my G6119 Tennessee Rose which can be seen on my newer videos. However, I have more stuff I want to mod on my black Gretsch, and I actually already have brand new locking tuners for that but I havent had the time to switch them. After my new album is 100% recorded I will get back to modding the black one.
Did you custom order those pickups from TV JONES?? Or did you have someone do the red for you?? I didn't know you could get custom color inserts. Did it cost a lot more? I really dig it man the red. My RatRod 🐀 stays in tune and plays great. I guess sometimes you get a good one and sometimes a less than perfect one. My artcore Ibanez had the same problems with the bigsby. It lifted. That Ibanez wasn't a good one lol.
Hey! I am not completely sure if it will work. The problem is that in theory 5420t and 5410t have similar measurements, but in the end I had to switch my bridge to ABM roller bridge (highly recommended btw) to ensure that I can set the intonation right
I think the orange look better with gold pick surrounds and gold pick guard just more traditional. I got the Farlane Blue ( found a used one with a case and it looked new with plastic still on pickguard and pickups) I couldn't pass it up. I put the electromatic Hi/Lo tron in the neck. I also found a flat black ratrod 🐀 and I wanna find a clear pick guard for it. Just sooo cool looking I wanna see it all. Lol
Hello. I also have the Rat Rod and I also had tuning issues with it. I had to send back the 1st I ordered because it was impossible to use the bigsby without getting heavily out of tune. The one I own now behaves much better in terms of tuning stability. Thanks for your modification tips! Do you know which one was the most important to keep the Rat Rot in tune?
Thank you so much for your message! I think it is really common when you are an "early adopter" of a new product, to have a lot of faulty ones coming from the factory and then there are those unlucky ones like you and I... It is really hard to say what was the one piece that affected the tuning stability the most, but if I had to guess, i would say the ABM roller bridge. Im actually going to buy one for my Orange Gretsch as well!
Unfortunatly the RatRod is quite a pain in the ass. I have changed my tuners to grovers and also use a ABM Roller Bridge, but still this thing won't stay in tune. I hate it, 'cuz i really love the sound and looks of this guitar, but still barely use it at home to avoid having a shitty out-of-tune sound all the time... Have you come to a solution to fix this completely?
This seems to be a really common issue, thanks for sharing your experience too! Well, one thing that comes to mind is the nut. How does your nut look like, are the slots wide enough to let the strings move or do they look super tight? My string gauge is 11. - 49.
@@DeLaRockaMusic I had a guitar luthier actually takin' a look at the nut, but he could not really find a problem there. Does changing the spring of the bigsby make a big difference? Could give that a try.
@@DeLaRockaMusic You mentioned in the video you had changed the spring to a lighter one. Didn't know if that had anything to do with the tuning stability. It's indeed a though one, 'cus i don't want to part with the guitar.. Maybe i'll let another luthier have another look at the guitar, and see what he can do. Thank a lot for your time man! Greeting from The Netherlands🤘🏼😎
Btw the luthier that operated on my guitar, he also told me that there is nothing wrong with the nut slots but I widened them myself, just a bit and I feel that it helped a bit
