Your old guitar just sounds terrible. You can just go ahead and send it to me! Lol, they both sound fantastic, or maybe it's your playing that makes them both fantastic. I am sure I can get them both to sound bad!

I think if you played on a 50 dollar guitar, you would make it sound like a 5000 dollar guitar.

Hola Merce, What a treat to have the opportunity to play two sister guitars. My Impression is that your Guitar #1 has a little better balance between the bass and trebles. The Guitar #1 trebles really shine with rich harmonics. The Guitar #1 Bass is a slight deeper fuller sound. However, it is amazingly similar the overall tone quality; they are not only sisters but twins in this overall tone quality. I would not be surprised if Guitar #2 received a lot play time that the treble/bass balance would match your Guitar #1. I can volunteer my time to play Guitar #2 for a year and you can redo the comparison. What do you say? 🙏

Guitar 1 has a richer sound, more "overtones". Guitar 2, very good. Treble more in front.

They are very much twins. Maybe the new guitar is a smidge less open? Slightly brighter. Honestly the few differences really do seem like "I haven't been played as much" differences. I'm curious, is the action any higher? For some reason it seemed like it might be a little higher on the newer guitar. Both beautiful. So jelly. Perfect size. People think that doesn't make a different if it isn't a gigantic difference but even a a couple of millimeters really does. (PS I feel Guitar 2 is the newer one)

With my studio headphones, guitar 1 had more attack. Guitar 2 sounded less ‘immediate’. Merce, does RU-vid allow you to play more ‘contemporary’ pieces on your channel? I was thinking of Sepulturas ‘Jasco/ itsari’, and Ravens 20/21: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sx6xE41dH08.html 😊😊😊 It would have been interesting to have guitar ‘2’ made with fan frets.

Guitar 2 treble did not seem to project as much on guitar 1 treble. But.. were the strings the same brand and age?

Without reading comments, guitar one seemed brighter to me also. Two was maybe more "even", almost compressed sounding. That's just my very non-expert impression though! Edit: I was wondering about the age and type of strings too and if there were any differences there.

I thought initially that guitar 1 sounded ever so slightly more open. However, RU-vid compression algorithm even with very good headphones means that in reality, if I have to be completely objective I cannot hear much of a distinct difference. I suspect that if I was in the room I would be able to give better analysis. Strings (and condition) are also going to play their hand.

Thanks Merce..I`m travelling to Europe from the US next month for the first time and planning to buy a guitar there..I`m confused..those are spruce tops not cedar ? Honestly this is a pretty decent computer with good speakers but to me RU-vid just does not give great sound quality..I couldn`t really tell much difference..which do you like ? Any more advice as far as buying a guitar ? I`m planning on hitting most of the major shops there..I had asked you about this before and I know who I need to talk to when I get there..I`m leaning towards a Hauser style like Segovia played.

Always difficult to compare I assume both guitars had the same strings. Guitar one, as spruce does with playing and age, had a rounder sound, sweeter, was more even across and up and down fret board with dynamics of sound very smooth in fact but had separation and sang. Guitar 2 was not even in sound brighter boxer sounding meaning the body woods were reflecting sound from surface Number one was producing sound from much deeper in the wood which was why it sounded richer etc. Having said the difference in sound to my ear, I will say I do like the number 2 guitar I am sure it will sound close to your guitar when played in 👌👌 and as I have small hands it would probably be just right for me with that short scale that I think you have on it send it over and I will play it in for you 😉😉 Very interesting to hear these two guitars to compare and I am listing on a good setup with quality head phones. Nice playing as well

GUITAR 1. I prefer

I find the Guitar 2 nicer, it has a bit more ringing (tinkling) sound, especially the bass strings. Its sound is a bit more sharper, in a good way. It is hard to describe in words, really :).

Guitar 1 seems the tiniest bit nicer to my ear, although there is hardly anything in it really

Although you were mostly playing different parts on each guitar and it was hard to get a good comparison but I like the bass strings of guitar n.2 but trebles are sweeter on n.1 but all in all I would probably choose n.2!

My ears aren't sensitive enough to really tell the difference. The edits are smooth and consistent enough that if I close my eyes, I can't really tell that you've switched guitars. If I listen while watching, I think I can tell the difference but I might be fooling myself. With all that said, it would be just wrong to separate twins. So you should keep them both! They will thank you as they grow old together with you.🙂

It was a very nice watch, from beginning to the end. Unpacking with piano music track was not something to miss too. Production, everything - pure eye candy. As to the question: bass feels to be more pronounced in #2. It was difficult to try to concentrate on this particular aspect of the performance, despite wearing these :headphone: ! But the real question, of course, is "How much you like it?". I really hope to see a follow-up.

Awesome! I think they're very similar, G1 is, of course, open, but we don't know what you feel in your body, that's something we can't detect in our headphones.

I heard very little difference with my Apple earbuds. No. 2 was a little skewed towards the treble, perhaps, but were the strings newer and maybe not "played in"? I don't know, but both look and sound lovely!

Wow... I your hands they both sound great. Number two sounded a bit newer? not quite as smooth? but that's just listing on my MAC. I'll try it later with headphones. It will be interesting to hear your take.

You're right, can't comment on the tone because we don't know how it was processed. I wouldn't say the mic interfered with the sound but mics, pre-amps & everything else does colour the sound. The biggest difference I can hear is Guitar 2 sounds like it has better separation, I also like the way Guitar 2 works with your recording setup. Did she have the same strings on?

Hello and Thank you again, Merce..... I think the #1 thing we learned is that so much of a guitar's tone comes from the person playing it. I suspect you could play on any guitar and sound amazing. #1 sounds like what it is --- played in, the wood relaxing and becoming more responsive to your playing. However, her sister, #2 is fabulous sounding as well and probably sounds very much like #1 when you first got it. Once again, watching you makes me want to run out and get a classical guitar (done that a few times after watching your videos) even though I know that I'm not going to be a decent player. I think I'll have to stick with my Fenders and Gibsons.... Mochas gracias for the beautiful music you give us.

Dear Merce I met you for the first time when I stumbled upon your tutorial videos and I’m fortunate that I did . You a superb teacher . What impresses me the most about this comparison is your superb playing and musicianship. Listening to these guitars with my eyes closed I must admit that that to me the differences were truly negligible. Yes the instrument makes a big difference but primary mover is the artist . I would venture to say that you could make a commercial guitar sound great . I had this reality check when I bought an expensive guitar and I did not sound close to the artist . Well done and wishing great success.. May I ask who the luthier is ? The rosette looks like a Romanillos .

Number 2 sounded more resonate but number 1 had a more "earthy" tone, and seemed that its amplitude was more stable, but they were both close in sound. BTW, Giuliani was easy on the ears and fun to listen to, and that peice covered all three octaves, so it was a good sampling selection as well. Also, when I heard it I guessed it was him, but then I rewatched and noticed you posted the composer's name on the video, confirmation achieved :-) Finally, your Luthier can really pack a guitar in tight, thumbs up to him, but it was hilarious watching you struggle with that box, thank God you and your box cutter won that war without any casualties :-) Thanks Merce, we're so grateful for your content!

Well first of all both guitars sound amazing, I think the first one has a deeper sound in the basses and the second one has more clearly basses, but more brightness in the first 3 strings, in the end both have a good level of sound, with brightnees and clarity!!
