Hello Dave I saw your mental heakth week video and it kind of moved me because although I'm quite older than you are I too was bullied in school but instead of embracing the fear I embraced rage and learned to fight and to such a point that I got myself in big trouble after beating another kid in my tenth year so badly he wound up in hospital. But that was almost 35 years ago and I have since learned to become mellow and in a sense a pacifist. It was music that saved me from going down that "path of no return". Keep up the good work. Cheers.

Glad you got the "Cash Converters" guitar back, but you know what they say - if somebody you thought was your friend borrows a hundred quid off you and then disappears without paying it back - it was probably worth it. :-) Mind you, that's only money. To pawn your guitar - "Kill him!"

Dude, I don't know how you maintain all those guitars. I own five and struggle to maintain them all and keep the necks healthy. Also you should look into Japanese strats from the 80s/90s. You'll never look back! Forget Americans!

+Luke Kerr i have 11, they are all just fine. I guess it depends where you live. Here in the desert we dont worry about humidity too much. Also, richlite fretboards(love or hate them) dont shrink or grow due to humidity so that helps on one of my guitars lol.

Having every type of guitar, even if it's just exactly the same with a different colour, does grow on some people and they just can't resist another guitar.

+my waifu is a kid and a squid. Sometimes it can be just wanting another one because you love the one(s) you have so much you want more. Sometimes it is because you love it so much but want to keep it in a certain tuning and setup playing that way beautifully, but need another(others) for different tunings. Sometimes a color switch sometimes for different pickups but to have the guitar the same etc.

Speaking of Columbus (make of your bass) I have a 70s 335 ripoff by Columbus, couldn't afford a real 335 but in the end I gutted the dog shit electronics and put in some ridiculously expensive custom handmade PAFs with bumblebee caps. Makes me sound in hinged to do such a thing but It sounds fantastic and I don't feel like I need a proper 335 now, I'd say the electronics are definitely better than if I was to buy a non vintage 335 :)

Really enjoyed this vid. Great to see how you love your guitars. They don’t have to premium brands, if they feel right and sound great that’s enough. I have a wide range of guitars, some I bought just because someone was selling it and I had the cash. I have had Fenders and Gibson’s (Tele & Les Paul) but sold them, not because I didn’t like them but because they were too good not be used. Currently my main guitar is a Gretsch White Falcon (always wanted one and it was a gift). It is perfect for me. I have a Honer Blond which I won’t get rid of for sentimental reasons, an Epiphone Dot, two Harley Bentons which are great, two bass guitars, two acoustic guitars and a 12 string acoustic. Also have a mandolin and a ukulele. I often get asked how many guitars do you need and I say just one more. The equation should always be N+1 I might make a vid of my collection, if ever I have the time.

I dug this video up because I keep seeing the hollow body behind you on the wall in later videos and wanted to know what it was. I would not have guessed Hofner, but then Hofner isn't really popular here in the US. I only have 2 guitars (well, and an acoustic and 2 basses so that's 5 I guess) but I realized one day that decent guitars don't go down in value. Good wood isn't getting any cheaper. Automation and cheap labor make new guitars cheaper and higher quality, but people will always want the old stuff. So I'm sure I'll be picking up a few more. I've got my eye on an Epiphone Casino or a Fender Strat ( I have a copy from a kit) or maybe a big Gretsch.

I had a bad conscience to have too much guitars. Now it is a little bit better. But the difference is, you deserve to have so much gear, because a are an excelent player. I am on a low level, but I like guitars a lot. My 2 favorite ones are two Strats, both USA. First is sunburst from 2005. I changed the neck , now it has an american deluxe rosewood neck (had original a maple neck). And it has (german made) Leosounds Irish Tour pickups (great!). It served me well and I will not let it go. The second one I got just recently. It is a black 1998 normal USA Strat with maple neck, all original. It has a dark and very warm sound. I had quite a lot of Strats over the years. But this black one is unique. Love it.

Hi Dave..may I ask you a question?..ok...well I have a black Squier Bullet(nicknamed Blackie after Clapton's Blackie of course) that I love and I hate the tremolo, always goes out of tune, you know how that goes, so I blocked it but if I tighten the screws down on the front and then put 5 coils on the back, will I still have to use a wood block?..I have it in there now with 3 springs but would love to get rid of the block and just use springs..would that work?...thanks...I love your channel

I just removed the covers and carefully removed it all with a blunt knife. Took a long time but it was worth it.

Hey Dave have you ever played a Harley Benton SC-450 or an ST-62? Amazing guitars, fantastic and for the money probably the best you can buy.

Hey Dave, have you thought about buying the Vintage Paradise, advise you check it out, not quite as good as the Lemondrop but not far off!

Sounds Affects in Ormskirk are selling them for £259 I got it for £223 cos they offered a reduction because I had already bought the Lemondrop.

Hey Dave I really like your white Mexican strat. Is it a standard strat or vintage 60s style strat? It kinda looks like a 60s vintage strat to me so I was trying to figure it out.

The guitar Vic Flick used to record the Bond Theme was a Clifford Essex model.

You're not missing much by not having alot of American strats. I owned a custom shop Strat and I've played many Mexican that sound and played just as good if not better. Also, had a American Standard. The only somewhat good thing about them is resale value. If you keep them, then that doesn't matter. Take care :)

I know what you mean. I have played tons of them and only played a few that have had me go wow. You take care to. :)

I think you have around 25+ guitars. doesn't make me feel so bad for having 12 and between my dad and myself we have 22. 3 are in pieces waiting for mods though.

With all the crazy trem shit that you do on those Strats, I was wondering if you've ever tried a Wudtone trem plate? It's got beveled pivot points on the underside of the 6 holes, so no more tuning problems. I swear by them...
@thedavesimpson
@thedavesimpson 8 лет назад
I haven't ever tried it no. I get on so well with standard tremolo's i've never felt the need to experiment. I'll take a look though. :)

I see this alot but why do people remove the back plate from there fender guitars? Is it for tone improvement reasons. Ive always wondered why. Oh and have you ever removed decals like SQUIRE logo from fenders and how would you recomend i do that? Your a Legend lol oh another question, i noticed you love fender strat style was wondering if you have played a telecaster before? i think you might want to think about getting a tele classic vibe squire, I can highly recomend them for the price. Cheers again

Removing the back plate makes it easier to restring, re set the tremolo and it could be me being a little neurotic but i feel it makes the guitar louder and sound better. I have removed squire logos. I normally just sand them off. Remove everything on the headstock and sand it down till the logos gone. I did own a Tele custom for many years but i have only ever played one Tele that felt right and never found one since that worked for me. I'm still on the Tele hunt. And the SG hunt as i love them but haven't found the one yet. Thank you so much for watching. :)

You`re Squire Jag don`t stay in tune because it`s Squire, mate. I got a american vintage 65, and it stays in tune, just as long as my Gibson 57 reissue custom, for example. And, put a Bare Knuckle bridge pickup on the Jag, and it will be possibly the best and most stylish guitar in your collection. Love your videos! : ) & keep on rockin
