Their team comp counters irelia, you can't jump on them without getting hard CCed, so if you're not able to snowball your lane, and even if you do so, you're pretty useless. And he was also going to get counter picked so picking irelia or jax is just inting because you know you're gonna be useless all game long. Akali fits perfectly for her mobility and the lack of ap in the team
