Voldemort, Snape and Harry were equivalents of the Three Brothers in that tale in the previous film. Voldemort was the eldest brother, who died as a result of seeking power. Snape was the middle brother, who died as a result of unfulfilled love. Harry was the youngest brother, who accepted death when the right time came. And Dumbledore was Death, who led the first two brothers towards their ends, and whom the third brother "greeted as an old friend."

The backstory they gave Snape in the pensive is one of the best sequences in the franchise.

If you take careful note of Snape's brief "battle" with McGonagall, you might catch that he deflected the spells to hit the Carrows. Then, before he fled, he took both their wands. Subtlety was Snape's strong suit.

Draco didn't tell his mom to lie...she basically understood that if Draco is still alive, then she can get him out, and decided to lie for Harry as a "thank you"

So just to clear things up, Dumbledore doesn’t care less than Snape. Dumbledore told Snape about Harry’s upcoming death and was trying to point out that Snape was getting angry about someone he professed to hate. Snapes Patronus was meant to convey that while he didn’t hate Harry, he was doing all of this because of his love for Lily. Which is the significance of his response “Always…”.

“It feels like an entire era just ended.” Because it did. Harry Potter literally made a whole generation fall in love with reading and when the movies came out a lot of those readers were around the same age as Harry so it was like growing up alongside him. I read most of the books as they released and there was honesty nothing like it. Being a Potterhead back in the day was truly a special time.

24:19 What Dumbledore meant when he said that was that why would you care about him now after you've hated him all these years. The scene in the book went like this: “I have spied for you and lied for you, put myself in mortal danger for you. Everything was supposed to be to keep Lily Potter’s son safe. Now you tell me you have been raising him like a pig for slaughter -” But this is touching, Severus,” said Dumbledore seriously. “Have you grown to care for the boy, after all?” “For him?” shouted Snape. “Expecto Patronum!” From the tip of his wand burst the silver doe. She landed on the office floor, bounded once across the office, and soared out of the window. Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears. “After all this time?” “Always,” said Snape.

For reference Snape and Harry did "fight" in Half Blood Prince and Snape deflected every spell then knocked Harry back without breaking a sweat. And when Snape and McGonical "fought" he chose not to strike her, and in fact knocked out the death eaters in the back. Like... Snape is pretty much the strongest sorcerer at Hogwarts after Dumbledoor dies... He just chooses not to fight every one he sees

It’s not over if you read the books. You can only fit in so much content into a 2 hour movie. The books have so much more detail and really expand the story and universe.

3:21 Ollivander was able to identify the wands near the start of the movie because as he said in the first movie he can remember every single wand he ever sold.

The bank scene, where Helena Bonham Carter plays Hermione pretending to be Bellatrix is just fantastic. Her voice, posture and whole demeanour just changes at the flick of a switch.

Helena was extremely jealous of her moms diadem so she asked Tom to destroy it... Her backstory is honestly really interesting and kinda a crazy one!

People who have not read the books always confuse that part...Dumbledore isn't saying that he does not care about Harry. He's simply asking Snape if he's grown to care about Harry. His response wasn't to say yes but rather to show his Patronus...which is a Doe, the same as Lily's was. The reason for that is because he loved her and always will. He's protected Harry out of devotion to Lily...not because he secretly cares about Harry. Remember, as an adult and an authority figure he bullied Lily's son for six years simply because his appearance reminded him of James. Snape certainly was complicated. He wasn't exactly a paragon of virtue but he wasn't evil either. He got in with the wrong crowd at school and was headed down a dark road but love redeemed him and helped him find a better path. He was a brave man to the last...but certainly had a boat load of character defects as well. Its his conflicted nature that makes him such a believable, and in the end a great character.

"We didn't even get a redemption story for Snape" Me: *Laughs in foreknowledge*

When they started making the films, JK Rowling had only finished, and published, four of the seven books. But she felt it was vital that Alan Rickman, who played Snape, knew who Snape really was. So she told him in complete confidence how the series would end. For six years, until the release of the final book, only Rowling and Rickman knew the secret of Snape.

That hug scene between Drako and Voledemort was awkward because it wasn’t scripted. It was Ralph Fiennes improve.

If you’re wondering how Harry survived at the Forbidden Forest by Voldemort, it’s actually explained and answered in the final book. In Limbo, Dumbledore says it has nothing to do with the Deathly Hallows or the Horcrux taking a bullet for him. It was the love protection Lilly gave him when she sacrificed herself to save her son. The protection was supposed to go away when Harry turned 17 and no longer live with his Aunt Petunia who shared her sister’s blood, but it didn’t. This is because Voldemort used Harry’s blood to come back in the Goblet of Fire. Dumbledore says; “His body keeps her sacrifice alive and while that enchantment survives, so do you.” So because Voldemort put Harry’s blood into his new body, the love protection lived on inside of himself. Therefore continuing Lilly’s protection for Harry, which is why he survived. Love is not only the most powerful emotion but also the most powerful magic in the universe to the point where not even Death can touch it.

I started crying right before you viewed Snape's memories, I knew what was coming. Fun fact, the Patronus that Harry saw in the 7th film, that lead him to the sword, belonged to Snape. He shared the same Patronus as Lily, out of his love for her.

It's not over, you get to read all of the books and then re-watch all of the movies with a new appreciation! The HP world only gets better.

Alan's performance in this franchise ended up breaking my heart... So much love going out to Snape

Dumbledore did care for Harry very much. He wasn't happy or apathetic about Harry having to die. He just didn't want to hear flak about it from Snape of all people. For six years Dumbledore had to tell Snape to stop being so mean to Harry, and he listened as Snape complained about Harry. So for Snape to act like Dumbledore was the cruel one, of course Dumbledore would be like "Really? Really Dude? Now you wanna pretend he's your baby bean?"

The moment you realized Snape's truth, just reminded me of the day my late wife left for her class, cursing Snape in the morning, only to return that evening after class, crying, emotional from learning the truth. I just wanted to thank you for your awesome reaction, and the emotions you brought back for me personally. Keep those reactions coming!

But its not a fact that Snape cared for Harry more then Dumbledore did. Dumbledore cared for him the most and Snape only looked after him because of his love of Lily and he feels like he killed her.

I was 11 when this movie came out. My mother bought the DVD and she cried for several minutes during the Snape memories' scene. I watched it by myself when grown up. I understood her.

One of my favourite MacGonagall moments in the book was sadly cut. While she just animates the statues in the film, in the book she starts animates *everything*, beauty and the beast style. At one point I'm pretty sure she's seen leading a stampede of schooldesks down the hallways

Dumbledore had more information he was withholding about the situation than Snape. He couldn't tell Snape in case Voldemort tested him. Dumbledore did know that Voldemort couldn't kill Harry but Harry did have to face death. Dumbledore knew things had to go the way things went, but he could manipulate certain things so that it didn't go the way Voldemort wanted and in the end Voldemort doomed himself.

Actually in the book, none of the slytherins were sent to dungeons (it's where their common room is) Every adult student were given a chance to stay and fight and the rest were evacuated from the castle.

Kunia dear, it's very easy to misunderstand the whole Dumbledore-Snape-Harry situation from the movies alone. The fact of the matter is that with all due respect, Snape hated Harry's guts all along, he bullied him every bit as much as he himself was bullied by James. And yet he lived and died protecting him because all he wanted is to make sure Lily, his great love didn't die in vain. Harry dropped the Resurrection Stone because he didn't need it anymore. He only used it to make his own sacrifice easier. He didn't "bring back" his loved ones, they came to fetch him. As for Dumbledore, he was several steps ahead of everyone else. He made sure that Voldemort can never kill Harry, in more than one way. He intended to be killed by Snape while still having the Elder Wand. Since his death was agreed between them, the wand's power would have died with him, because it was never taken from him against his will. That bit didn't work out because Draco disarmed Dumbledore. And then when he found out at the and of Goblet of Fire that Voldemort took Harry's blood, he knew that he had won the war. Voldemort took inside his body a tiny part of Lily's protection and kept it alive. Meaning, that he became the only person in the universe who couldn't possibly kill Harry. Wen he cast the killing curse, he only managed to kill that part of his soul But he had to keep this a secret, Harry had to go to the forest intending to die, knowing that he will die and not defending himself. By doing so, by sacrificing himself to save everyone else at Hogwarts, he did for them what Lily did for him: they were all protected from Voldemort from that moment on.

Snapes whole truth moment is still very sad, He loved lily so much and he did help Harry but in his way since he hated his father but still cared for his mother. Its so sad to see the lost of a character and the actor Rest in Peace Alan Rickman

The story of Snape is just peak writing and pure character development

It's been so awesome watching you experience these movies. It's almost like going back and watching them for the first time myself.

I love reading and rereading the books. There are SO MANY little hints and clues hidden throughout all the books, even in book 1 there are sentences that sound completely innocent that directly hints towards stuff happening as late as the end of the very last book in the series. There are so many little gems like that hidden that you will only pick up on if you have already seen the movies/read the books, which makes it super fascinating to read the books several times. I've read them 30+ times already since they came out, and I'm STILL picking up on new little easter eggs to this day.

At 22:40 what many people fail to overlook when Dumbledore asks Snape that question that’s not to say that Dumbledore never cared for Harry in fact, Dumbledore cared for Harry a great deal, but that question that Dumbledore asked Snape was a direct reference to Snape and his past history regarding Harry plus on top of all that, while Dumbledore did care about Harry a great deal I believe he also had the understanding of doing what had to be done, regardless of how others perceived it.

"After all this time?" "Always." RIP Alan Rickman. Always.

It’s less that Draco told her to lie, it’s just that the war no longer matters to her or Lucius, they just want their son. She knew Harry being dead would mean parading up to the castle, so as soon as she knew he was still alive, she ensured that would happen.

25:00 - It's not that Dumbledore *doesn't* care about Harry, it's that Dumbledore is surprised that Snape, who doesn't seem to care for Harry, is repulsed by Harry's necessary death.

I see a lot of reactors tend to take the Snape flashbacks as "Dumbledore didn't actually care that much about Harry." I have never seen it that way. I see it as Dumbledore expressing doubt and sarcasm related to Snape's disapproval of Dumbledore's plan for Harry. And while, yes Dumbledore did essential raise Harry to die, I feel he did so regrettably. I always felt he did care for Harry, but just knew what had to happen. Love your reactions to this series, and your channel in general! It's been a great ride.

At 12:05 snape actually deflected those shots and directed to the people standing behind him to take them out if you didn’t noticed it .

I grew up with this series and when I left the cinema after watching this, I felt a little light headed and felt like a huge important chapter of my life just ended.

If you rewatch the scene where McGonagall duels Snape in the Great Hall, you can see that snape deflects her attacks into the Death Eaters standing behind him. He also grabs both their wands before escaping out the window.

For those of you that have watched the Harry Potter movies more than once. You can notice moments were Snape was helping Harry, and was the good guy. The part where he and McGonagall fight. He doesn’t do any spells to try and hurt her. He deflects her spells at him, and also uses two of her attacks to hit two death eaters. Also, I don’t think you noticed, but the deer Petronius, that lead Harry to the lake, where the sword was, was Snape’s Petronius. He sent it to help Harry find the sword.

Dumbledore and Snape gave Harry everything they could. In the end, the reality is they didn't know if Harry would survive at all. But there was always that hope.

Love Voldemorts Sheldon Cooper hug on Draco, so comically well done. 😂 Also, that moment, after multiple viewings, when u realise Harry and Voldemort are related through the Peverell family.

Just so you know, Harry's son did go to Slytherian and he also becomes friends with Draco's son. Draco had a cut scene in the last film where he threw Harry his wand, hence why Harry had a want to cast a spell soon as he rolled off of Hagrid's arms. After Harry becomes an Auror (basically police force) where he'd end up leading it in his later years. Ron would also join Harry in becoming an Auror but after a few years, he'd retire to work with his brother at the candy shop. Hermonine went back to finish her last year of school, as Professor McGonagall became Head Mistress of Hogarts and allowed students to come back to finish the year they missed due to the wizardling war. After this, Hermonine ended up becoming Head of the Ministry of Magic. Neville doesn't end up marrying Luna but marries someone who was in Hufflepuff. He ends up becoming a auror before going to work at Hogwarts as a Professor for herbology and also the Head of House Gryffindor.

These films are my childhood and in some way my safe place it was great to watch your first reaction and your theories 😁 thank you for reviving so many memories of my childhood ☺️

The movie left out a lot on Snape and Lily's relationship. Snape loved Lily, but she never returned his feelings, and they drifted apart over the years as Snape got more involved with the Dark Arts. He willingly joined Voldemort because he believed in Voldemort's cause of pure blood superiority, and he thought Lily would be impressed with him becoming a Death Eater. He chose the Dark Arts over her, which was what ultimately destroyed their friendship. He continued to love her though and only switched sides to protect Harry since that also meant protecting Lily. He actually hated Harry because he reminded him that he lost her to James and he blamed Harry for his mother's death because she sacrificed herself to save him, but he remained on Dumbledore's side to honor her memory of what she died for.

One change that always bothered about the last movie was Harry just snapping the Elder wand in half. The book he uses it to mend his original wand back together.

I’m sure someone mentioned this but… Narcissa Malfoy, when tasked to see if Harry was actually ‘dead,’ no longer cared if Voldemort won or not. It shows again that love is the strongest, especially for a mother. She loved Draco, but he was in the castle, and she was with the Death Eaters. So the only way she could get to her son was to pretend to be part of a ‘conquering army.’ That’s why she asked Harry if Draco was alive, and when being told he was, she lied about Harry still being alive.

I love how much you care for animals and love them, it's refreshing and endearing, it's rare now a days, or least where I'm at i love animals

Honestly I always liked the idea of Neville and Luna. both kind of outsiders with rough family lives. Wish it had been canon but they each wind up with other people

The only thing from the deathly hallow book i wish was in part 2 was that harry did partially use the elder wand before he destroyed it but he only used its power to repair his old wand.

FUN FACT: Many people never understood why the snitch said “I open at the close.” Obviously its a riddle but its also linguistic poetry. “I open” meaning to reveal the secrets within, and at the close is the part thats poetry. People read it as “cloze” because the word “open” cleverly tricks your brain into thinking the opposite of open. (Which would be to close with a z pronunciation). But its actually meant to be read as “close” with an s. “I open at the moment youre close to death.” I assume acknowledging that moment “Im ready to die” spoken by Harry was was unlocked the enchantment. A cool enchantment made by Dumbledore to prepare Harry for a moment set in prophecy. Edit: Feel free to ask me questions about the story if you have any.

Shout out to Neville for having one of the biggest characters arch’s in film, from a shy joke to a heroic BAD-ASS. Like when I saw the movie in theaters and Neville decapitates Nagini, the theater cheered as loudly as when Captain America grabbed Mjölnir and beat up Thanos lol

2 things about snape. 1. When McGonagall was attacking him in the great hall he only used defensive spells, and when he fled he picked up the other death eaters' wands. 2. Patronuses can change if you have an extreme shift in emotional feelings. In this case it changed because of Snape's strong love for Lily. Lily's changed to James' patronus and Snape's changed to her's.

One thing I desperately wish they had put into the movie was Harry’s speech to Voldemort before they duel. The way he explains that Voldemort literally made the same mistake he made by killing Lilly, and that Harry has protected everyone by dying to protect them is amazing. The fact that he fixes his own wand with the elder wand should have been included too. Still one of the best HP movies

Narcissa's only concern was for her son, Draco, and she knew that the only way to get into the castle to get her son was to lie and say that Harry was dead. Also, the thing with the Elder wand is that it was always a myth that to be the master of the wand you had to kill the previous owner, but instead all that need be done was to win it from the previous owner for the wand to change its allegiance.

Snape's patronus was the same as Lily's because he loved her so much, that it became the same as hers, and he was the only death eater that could produce it.

Finishing this final movie is like finishing a magnificent book (or perhaps the last book of a magnificent series). The book(s) has moved you so much, with all the feels, but now it's done. You take a deep breath, sigh, and look around. And you are surprised, seeing all these people - and they're all walking around like nothing has happened.

So glad you loved these movies. I love this franchise/fictional universe and it hurts me to see people getting bullied simply for liking it and/or playing the new game

They deleted a scene that I really wish they included where Draco gives Harry his wand after he wakes up from being “dead”. It really showed people who didn’t read the books that Draco turned a corner.

The audiobooks felt like a movie in my mind all over again. If you want to spend more time with the characters, and experience a whole new series of ‘bonus scenes’, the Stephen Fry narrated books are a must 😍

Reading the books as they published and seeing the movies as they premiered over the years, Harry Potter became such a huge part of the lives of children and adults alike. When this movie concluded it was a very emotional event, like saying goodbye to the wonder the story gave us. Timeless and legendary.

I also loved a girl like Snape. We had a few classes together back in college. It's been almost 10 years...She, of course is married now, but still if she asks me my answer will be " ALWAYS!!!"

If you want more of harry potter you should defo read the books! If you dont like reading, you can also listen to the audiobooks, which are AWESOME. I personally reccomend stephen fry, who nails the voices :D

It really was a brilliant series, and I love how I can relive the first moment again by watching you

Severus didn't actually kill Dumbledore. It was the fall that killed Dumbledore. One of the things that the fake Moody told the students when he taught them about the Unforgivable Curses was that, in order for them to truly work, you really have to mean them with your whole heart. Snape didn't mean it with his whole heart, but it needed to be done for the little performance that they were putting on for the death eaters who were there. And, hey, from their perspective, Snape cast the spell and Dumbledore died. Therefore, Snape was the one who killed Dumbledore. No need to think about the fact that the body-bind curse on Harry didn't break until Dumbledore had time to fall and hit the ground, rather than giving way as soon as the spell was cast. Snape really is one of the most tragic characters in the series, and I love that Alan Rickman got to do him justice. As for Hedwig, yes. She was killed _right_ up front during the escape from Privet Drive. That death, and about 90% of the deaths in this book/these two movies honestly do so much more to piss me off than to make me legitimately sad. The deaths just feel... rushed. Half-assed. Both Remus and Tonks? Hate that. Fred? Nope. I don't mind the goblins dying so much, because they were very happy to screw over the main characters, even knowing that their goal was to stop Voldemort. Still, so much of it feels like Rowling just kind of... wanted to go out with a body count, because that's what she decided, not because it felt right. I've got a lot of issues with how Rowling handled the story, and how she's behaving now. I think the fame has gone to her head, and it isn't doing well by her. On top of that, I highly recommend watching The Super Carlin Brothers' "What if Harry had been in Slytherin" series, because it shows how differently the story could have gone with a bit more creativity on the author's part. But no, she had "Gryffindor are the good guys, Slytherins are the bad guys, and Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff are just... kind of there," and that's it. It's also one of the things that I really enjoy about the Hogwarts Legacy game (which you should 100% play), because the cast of characters that you interact with are significantly more diverse, with major characters from all of the houses, representing an infinitely more diverse cast than Rowling gave us. I think it has really done them well that Rowling really... just wasn't involved in the game's creation, leaving the creative team with a significantly greater degree of freedom to make a more rounded narrative. I'm not just bashing Rowling because it is "fashionable" to bash her, I was uncomfortable with creative decisions that had been made in the stories even as I was reading them growing up. It probably didn't help matters that I had authors like Neil Gaiman showing me so much more of what was possible in storytelling, who have in turn been significant influences for my own writing since. Heck, in his Masterclass, Gaiman talks about how when he is writing stories, one of his biggest priorities is to listen to the characters and let them help guide how they act and what they do. I've realized that I've taken that kind of approach to characters for a long time now. Rowling feels like an author who came up with "her" grand plan, and didn't allow herself the flexibility to let the characters help to guide her. She's a planner, rather than an organic writer. Heck, I believe she's even said that she had the whole series planned out from the start, which doesn't surprise me, given how it all went. In any event, I do apologize for the essay XD I will say that I've loved watching your reactions, and I'm glad that you've enjoyed the movies so much. I hope you take me up on some of my suggestions, but whatever else, keep having fun, and never let anyone tell you what you should or shouldn't enjoy. None of what I've said is intended to detract from your enjoyment, just to express why I... could have enjoyed the stories more on a personal level XD

To be honest, last year, I read the whole Harry Potter book series, and I loved them

If you notice when Mcgonnagal is fighting Snape he purposely doesn’t attack her but instead redirects her attacks at the Carrow twins standing behind him, helping her out while maintaining his cover, then he leaves so he doesn’t have to fight her because he’s still playing double agent

Loved your reactions to the series! Just wanted to point out one thing, Draco is really not that bad... he had been manipulated and forced to do a lot of things he wasn't comfortable doing... He had little choice. He even tried to help Harry in the battle by throwing him a wand, and pretended to not recognize Harry when asked by Bellatrix, amongst other things (these are not included in the movies for some reason)...

Unfortunately, the movie gives you only 50% of Snapes story. A lot more happens during their time at Hogwarts that you don't see in the movie. Snape falls in with the Death Eater crowd and that upsets Lily because they think Muggleborns are trash. Then later, Snape calls her a Mudblood in front of his friends.

So what happened to the Deathly Hallows at the end of the series? For the Resurrection Stone, according to Q&A; Rowling said that Harry dropped the stone at the Forbidden Forest and stone was pressed into the ground by centaurs while they were charging into battle at Hogwarts. The Cloak of Invisibility was kept by Harry and he eventually passed it on to his first son, James Sirius Potter. As for the Elder Wand, Harry used it to repair his own original wand that had been broken earlier in the final book. Normally the wand is beyond repair but since the Elder Wand is the strongest wand in the world and Harry was the true master of it, Harry was able to repair his own successfully. He then placed it back to Dumbledore’s tomb. That way, once he dies naturally, the Elder Wand’s power would be broken.

In the Book the Moment when Harry is ready to die, and said it to himself in the forbidden forest on his way to voldemort and then realises he still got the snitch.. "the snitch!.... i open at the close!?..., this is it! I am about to die." sooo so epic.
