I've been playing games for a long time and never before have I been so attached emotionally to a creature/character. The ending reduced me to tears also and I'm a guy in my 30's and I'm not ashamed of it one bit. Just watching your reaction and the ending again brought all those feelings right back. Trico and the game itself will stick with me forever, such an amazing experience.

ICO, Shadow of the Colossus and the Last Guardian. EPIC GAMES!

The ending did the exact same thing to me. I also feel like any frustration, from trying to get Trico to do what I wanted, added to my emotional connection to him/her. Don't think of Trico as a game mechanic or character but as a living creature. The feelings at the end are only heightened if you're an animal lover and/or grown up with pets.

This game is genius.

If you don't cry you're not human. I watched this scene again and again I broke down every time.

The story and ending of this game made me forgive its gameplay issues.. Arthur Morgan's demise doesn't hold a candle against this ending.. This game shows that theres no need for a character to die for it to be devastating.. They just need to establish an emotional connection to a character and then break your heart ever so gently..

This part around 12:00 where those guys are chasing you, makes me feel better that you also didn't realize you could use the shield to explode those guys. His tail is hanging through and will still work if you use the shield on those guys. Most people don't realize it their first time, but I didn't realize it until my 4th time playing this game LOL Though to be fair one was a speedrun. I've always been embarassed about that because it really is so simple and obvious once you figure it out but it seems like very few people do.

You summed up the game so well at the end. I agree with you completely and although it is kind of silly to get so attached to a video game character (I've always thought the same thing), I've yet to see anyone do a playthrough of this with a facecam that DIDN'T cry. Even grown ass men playing this game sometimes are balling their eyes out. I legit almost never cry, especially not to games or movies, and although I didn't when playing it the first time until the post credits (tears of joy) because I was totally in shock, when revisiting the game it gets me every single time. Also liked how you advise people to play it themselves. I really couldn't agree more that watching it is not at all the same as playing it which is why I was so reluctant to stream this game for so long and why I was almost against people like Jacksepticeye streaming it right when it came out, although I did enjoy his reactions to it lol So I'm glad you felt as strongly about the importance of playing it yourself. The game is so much about the connection you make with Trico. It's not like other games like the Last of Us or Uncharted where you play as a character, grow attached to them, and love the story and characters through their eyes. This game, I really think it makes you feel like you literally are the boy, and the bond formed between the boy and Trico isn't just their bond but your own as well. It reminds me so much of the bond I have with my dog. That's what makes this game so special, and what makes it IMO the best story and the best ending ever in a video game. Certainly the most powerful as it so consistently causes people to tear up. Yours might be my favorite reaction to the game too because your comments at the end really mirrored my own and I was happy to see you were able to get as invested into it as I hope everyone does who plays it. I don't watch people playing video games on youtube much but I'd be happy to watch yours in the future :-)

Watch your whole play through and I understand the frustrating part but the this game made me grow such a love for Trico it reminded me of my attachment I had with Agro in the Shadow of Colossus as a kid! Definitely gonna follow you!

Is this maybe one of the most underrated games ever? I get that it had some rough controls at times, but perhaps that's something that made it so some didn't unearth the absolute masterpiece that was within this game. I really hope it's not Eeda's last game, but if it is, it really caps off a trilogy of masterpieces for him and his team.

Years ago when i beat this, its how i found you channel back then. I wanted someone who was hit by it as hard as i was, and i've been a subscriber since. What makes this game so special is how absolutely real Trico is in the game. He's frustrating because its so much like a real animal, I don't think anyone will ever be able to make something to match it. Its been years and i decided to binge this playlist again, and it doesnt hit any less. I would aboslutely love a remaster, or god help me i'd love a VR version of the game. That connection to Trico isn't silly, because anything that draws that emotion is as real as it gets. Absolutely loved it even the 2nd time, and i really appreciate you sharing it with us Elle.

This is one of the most genuine and honest reactions to an ending I have ever seen I think. And to one of my favourite games of all time. Wow, it's always great to see someone appreciating games like this so deeply. I really do not want to compare the two but I do prefer SotC but my god this game is nearly just as masterfully done. Did you by any chance play ICO? All 3 of these games are some of gamings finest achievements.

rewatching this series and this game is such a masterpiece DX so glad you played also I didn't cry at the end but I think that's just because I've seen the ending so many times through playing it myself and watching playthroughs that I've gotten immune, but it's not any less emotional! I just beat the game and I can't just explain how much of a roller coaster it has done to such emotions. I had to see others emotions and yours popped up. I just finally played and finished this game and I had to see if I was the only one completely wrecked with tears at the end lol Watching it again with your play through was much more intense because of how emotional it made you. Incredible game and has become an instant favorite for me.

During the beginning of this segment I did exactly what you did! Did some sick moves and running around trying to gain some distance in order to have time to get all the switches lit up. Wasn't until I watched another youtuber play that I realized that I could have used Trico's tail that was hanging down to destroy them!

I finally played the game and so, eventually watch these video (well not all but those were I knew you would react). Love your emotions on this game as I also loved your emotions when I watched Shadow of the Colossus. Unfortunately, although I loved the ending and bits of genius here and there (making you interact with the cinematics during the game makes you grab to controller to try to desperately save Trico at the end), I still had all that frustration from the unbehaving camera, the sluggish controls, and Trico making me waste so much time on so many occasion, even making me doubt myself ... just to discover I had the solution from the start but Trico would react as I asked him to (and I had understood that you could ask him to jum, stay of smash depending on the button combination). I had high hopes for this game and the begining, especially since I love ICO (Fumito Ueda's first game), and The Last Guardian is an reverse ICO where the partner is doing the fighting when you're opening the door to the next room. And in a way, that's what I got, but maybe because I finished the game in 2 days, I could cool down all that frustration before finishing it.

I'm way late to the party, but SotC was my favorite game of all time ever since it came out when I was a teenager. Always wanted to play this, but never got the later playstations. Avoided all clips and vids of this game cause I knew I'd want to see it fresh. Finally recently got a ps5 and just finished this game tonight. I'm glad I'm not the only one who got emotional at the end.

I love your reaction, Trico will always live in your heart. "Although we are far apart..." that's the name of the last trophy you get in the game, so I guess Trico will never go to the village in order to protect his baby, but he will always remember you.

Hi I actually played this game as well and oh my God this game is so tense it's like the ending the ending felt like it played a emotional sad feeling it struck me in the heart so much that there is so much sadness and how beautiful the graphics look and how they did the story I cried so much seeing the ending and oh my God I love it.

I can perfectly understand your feelings! It's strange to have such deep emotional reaction if you think it's a game but, as you said, it's something you can't explain, it comes naturally. Imagine that my wife watched me playing and get nervous and disappointed for some parts of the game where it was difficult to understand how to go on, but at the end of the game she was crying more than me!😅 Amazing game, it deserves to be played to feel the link with this strange and lovely creature that is Trico. My dogs they haven't understand why I gave them so much attentions after the final ending 😁 Thank you!

Oh dang, she jumped into the thing on the back of that bird statue at the top of the tower lol. Didn't even know you could do that. It should shoot you out as a barrel before the game over. Also, I don't think that was a baby at the end. I think that was your Trico responding to you using the shield.

This game is a work of art. Because when a story is made with the soul and with love, it becomes a work of art. In practice it's not even a game, it's an experience. An almost spiritual experience full of sensitivity. The relationship of the little human - the boy - with the creature, teaches us much about ourselves, nature, and animals. And our relationship with other humans and animals.

Wonder, exhilaration, attachment, loss, anger, love... this game teases out our dearest emotions. Wonderful game. And a wonderful playthrough so thank you, Ele. Have you considered playing Shadow of the Colossus? It's similarly wonderful and rather unique.
