Gotta say, this arc means so much more than people realize. People see it as the “Dark Deku Arc” but it’s really the most relatable and vulnerable his character has been the entire series. It’s amazing.
The symbolism goin crazy with this OP --Deku standing in front of All Might like he always does, but then turning sideways instead of moving forward, hinting towards a shift in his character --Deku mirroring All Might in OP 2, but in a ruined wasteland instead of a peaceful society --Deku and Shiggy both being "freed" from their specters at the end: the former his battered and worn hero mask, the latter a literal apparition of All for One --The class gathered at the end, coincidentally in the brightest scene of the OP, the new hope for the world.
Yes, also, the part that stands out most to me is after he mirrors All Might. You see him standing behind Deku and Deku moves over him, almost as if to erase him. Idk maybe all might is going bye bye
The lyrics are so beautiful for this song. My favorite part being "Even if you say its none of my business, I still want to be by your side. That's what it means to be a hero" and it gives me goosebumps every time the main chorus drops
I honestly like the way they showed depression or depressive thoughts with izuku more than any other character, just because it's more realistic than "i'm sad." He constantly criticizes himself, undermines his achievemnet, and distances himself from family and friends, all because he believes they don't need him. It's far more relatable than "all my friends are dead"
It’s even more than that. He distances himself because of how much he loves his friends, his family, and all who surround him. Just being near him is enough for All for One to target and try and get to him, for his power. He distances himself so the only one who should be in danger is himself, as he believes he is the reason these villains have come out in droves. All for One has all of them under his thumb, for the express purpose of causing as much destruction as they can, to bring in Midoriya, to bring him to All for One.
@prestonstanley7736 honestly I can relate in a way. I have serious mood issues when I'm going through depressive episodes, so I distance myself from family and friends so I don't hurt them, which in turn causes more depressive episodes since I'm losing time with them. I got out of the cycle a good while ago, but I'm afraid any minor slip up might send me back into the spiral.
0:05 The emotion behind Midoriya's lack of expression and his stance gives me shivers everytime. You can almost feel the pressure of the burden that is weighed on his shoulders constantly.
he looked sad in my opinion which he cried a lot before this but was generally upbeat so you can see how the pressure of being all might sucessor got to him.
I mean Midnight was one of his instructors, Gran Turinos leg and Bakugo saving him, and so many others dead and alive, thats ALOT even for seasoned veteran hero, and its not over.😬
1:07 I love this moment of Tenko emerging from the body of Shigaraki that fades into AFO in the smoke. It parallels the moment where Eri finally gets away from Overhaul's darkness and smiles for the first time. Fitting since they're both people Izuku wants/wanted to save
@@tankm542 I think you’re… on to something, but it won’t be to him. He’s passing it to someone. I think it’s just a metaphor that he’s passing his light onto others.
*When I first saw this, the first thought that came to mind was, “Oh no...This is going to make me emotional isn’t it...?” Needless to say I was right...*
@@gr8atness he literally left and came back in about 15 chapters. And it was ended in a rushed and underwhelming way mostly thanks to the previous editor at the time. And things just get worse from there. If you and many others like it then good for you but for me and many others as well, it has so much more to do and yet stopped way too fast. I still respect your opinion in the end.
The amount of people who think this arc made Deku good because he changed. No this is how hes been the whole series up until this point, its just shown jn a new way to demonstrate how dangerous his way of thinking is. It didnt change him it built on the character we've already known. Midoriya has ALWAYS been a great protagonist.
@@optixxxx5672 No only in Season 2 Opening when All Might is gliding across buildings in bright sunshine and the buildings are clean and stable like hero society, whereas Deku is gliding in the same pose across destroyed buildings and dark skies as society has collapsed That isnt in the S5 opening, its only in the season 2 opening
Y’all do not understand how touched I was by Izuku sticking his hand out to younger Shigaraki. It really represents how much Izuku wants to help him, despite all the disgusting things Shigaraki has done. Thank you to the animation team and Horikoshi for making this masterpiece possible!
@@pokeboi5438it's actually shigaraki lol. Every time tenko is shown is a representation of shigarakis soul. Well shigaraki is tenko with the name afo gave him
the absolute HYPE that came with seeing this opening for the first time omfg and seeing *that * panel get animated like 3 seconds in was just something else
@@StephenOfficial451 Sora ni Utaeba? Doubt it. Could just be whatever you used to watch it. Edit: Also if you've watched it on crunchyroll, they've had a history of the openings they post sounding off.
In op 1, izuku was admiring all might In op 3, izuku holds hands with all might In op 4, deku stands next to all might In op 5, toshinori pushes deku's back And now deku walks away from toshinori Btw I can't wait to see stain and all might scene animated. It's my favorite in the entire series. Also we all love nagant dont we?
The one anime intro I will never skip when watching it. And also, not to mention the beautifully sad imagery at 1:06 where little child Shigaraki falls out of the living corpse that he's become now and Deku reaches out to him, revealing his core. I love this anime man.
This arc was great i don’t understand how people say it fell off. It perfectly displayed emotions and it’s not just the “dark deku arc”. It’s showing how desperate to make a change in the world after everything that has happened, going as far as leaving his friends. As he later learns that he doesn’t have to do everything by himself and he isn’t not alone in this. And it disgusts me to see a great anime’s reputation broken just because the fandom is weird. I wish mha the best in the future ( sorry if I sound dumb I’m not good at speeches 😅)
That's why I have mha andddd one piece that keep me going every week haha, I CANT let myself get withdrawals from an anime lol that's some anxiety I'd like to avoid
Interesting that nobody noticed the green sky when Deku walked towards the camera and raised his fist up in victory. (The green sky signifies Deku being the light in restoring the hero society)
Another interesting note is that the meaning behind Deku’s last name “Midoriya” is the Japanese translation for the color green so that adds another layer to the green sky that he was raising his arm up to.
is it just me or is the first five seconds of the opening is just way too addicting to listen to?! this is exactly what every opening should do, engage their audience within that timeframe, then the rest of the music is amazing!
Completely agree, and the last few seconds too, especially with the visual of the whole class looking at the sun together. It's really poetic actually, the visual contrast from the riff at the start and the same riff at the end.
It just hit me that the end pose Izuku does is the same one All Might did after his final fight with AfO He has truly taken on the responsibility of the symbol of peace here
@@ok-fz7xb Nah I highly doubt it. It's very high frame rate for sure with lots of movement, but most of it doesn't quite have the key framing expertise that Nakamura animations have which expertly incorporate weighty physics with anime flashiness. Still good tho. Just not Nakamura good.
It was but it was also too short (in my opinion). There should've been at least one moment where we see him sleeping alone or thinking whether he made the right decision
This opening shows how far Midoriya has come. His friends are still with him even though he wants them to be safe by going on his own. I know that in this situation it would be very difficult for children to be in, especially if they want to be heroes but Midoriya, friends, and allies are still doing their job to restore peace and hope to regain the trust again.
Deku was right all along. He did nothing wrong. Should’ve allowed an fleshed out Vigilante Deku more so we can see how it shaped his future self. More serious Deku, straight to the point. Hope Someone does a What If MHA series
I'm BnHA fanboy since 2017 and this is the best opening i've seen and heard, very superior to Polaris and Peace Sign, please Eve don't walk away too much , we're gonna need you on the final arc opening
For real, I feel oddly nostalgic for this song and season even though it's been seven months, I can only imagine how I'll feel about it in ten years when My Hero is over 😂
Midoriya's tired face while the image of a glass breaking represents him literally breaking, his thinking, his emotions are out of control and losing sight of what he is truly fighting for like Lady Nagant
Vigilante deku=Sasuke kid deku=Naruto Bakugo in classes 1A vs deku=Naruto Hope mha doesn't finish too soon cuz the classes 1A part felt like Sasuke vs Naruto final val in shippuden since deku came back 😭
Just binged all of MHA and as I got to the beginning of the Lady Nagant fight the English subtitles popped up for this opening and I teared up as I saw the words “My Hero” and “That’s what it means to be a Hero” in the English Subs as I remembered all the people Deku saved like Kota and Erie Then It clicked and it was like a photographic movie in my head as I recalled every moment and every scene I literally almost cried my eyes out like Season 1 Deku. Openings with Subs on always hit differently!
@@Dragon-Catracho I am sad that that part of the MHA community makes the anime have a black mark on the reputation of the anime because this anime itself has a lot of potential😞
It’s not even about shipping. Bakugo was the main reason behind deku’s return. And subsequently that concluded his character arc. It was PIVOTAL. Eve wrote this song based on Bakugo’s apology to Deku. Literally confirmed by them on twitter. Bakugo was robbed of the IMPORTANCE he had in favor of Uraraka. And i will never forgive them for that. (unless they give bakugo his due importance later on.)
Odd Futures song/opening was my favorite one for a long time but the moment this song/opening was released it became my new favorite, its so damn good 😭🖤
This is the by far the saddest MHA opening, from bright colors and upbeat characters and their smiles to Sad, seriousness and gloominess, proves the growth of the series and how great it will come to an end.
This is my favourite MHA op to date with Merry Go round. Plus the Dark Deku arc is my favourite in the series. It's just so emotional and meaningful in so many ways. I can't help but think back to when the series began in thoes simplier times and it brings me to tears. MHA is something very special for me and I'll always cherrish it
THIS is an opening. THIS is what the last one was lacking. No slide shows, just pure peak animation to some great music. E ve is getting in more and more anime and it's great to see
This is literally my all-time favorite anime opening, ever, I honestly never really say anything good about openings from anime, most of them sound really bad to me, but this one is something else
One of the best MHA openings in a WHILE,crazy how when they make an op that actually matches the tone of the arc it makes me like it so much, huh? It also helps that the GOAT Eve is singing this one
best MHA arc period. Kohei can't possibly make a better storyline than this, the sheer emotion of this is enough to carry a whole series, the parallels with the past and the evolution that the characters went through, it is simply beyond me, it is plus ultra!
just finished this season finally, and man oh man i think this is by far the best season of MHA, there was multiple times during the war arc that had me staying up late just to see what would happen next, and then the next arc with deku really hits the feels. this really was just a good season to watch and i hope season 7 carries on with the quality.
0:43 I love the animation at this part. The animation I was so smooth, and the spotlight on deku was a brilliant metaphor for how he was feeling hunted/ targeted.
0:46 I love the imagery here with Nagant's whole shattering the fragile illusion deal, and it represents Nagant revealing the dark truth with the glass shattering.
The best mha opening, as well as the season, the sixth season is the best mha season ever made without any doubt, recommend it 100% and even more, the season 6 is a love letter to the people. Sorry for this much text, i just absolutely loved this season
This opening carries so much emotion in it! This is the best season so far and the this song & animation captures it so well. Best opening since attack on titan s03p1 red swan imho.
0:00-0:05 Deku’s introduction along with Best Jeanist, Endeavor, Hawks and All Might 0:25 Class 1-A searching for Deku 0:35-0:39 Uravity finds Deku and both holding hands 1:07-1:09 Tomura is turn back to Tenko and Deku saves him 1:15 Class 1-A watching the sky to get ready for next war coming
genuinely s6 is one of my fav in anime it shows how much deku cares about his friends and although people say hes in his emo ear it shows what hes willing to do to keep people safe
