I don't know how closely is aligned with the actual play, but gosh, it sure is pretty. I love all of Scapini's decks and really think it's time to invest in one.
@teslagoth9401 , yes!!! I've been eyeballing the food tarots that have recently been funded / are funding now on Kickstarter. I love cooking, so it seems like a natural fit. So interesting. 🙂 What food decks do you have?
Hi Kaite. I love the theme of this tag. Like you, I am a teacher and am always committed to learning new things. I am studying the runes right now so to hear about the Runic Odyssey deck was great! I have not heard of this one before. I have also adopted your tree study and have been looking for decks and books that will help me learn about northern California trees. I was able to find a playing card deck by Stan Tekiela that focuses on northern California trees. Very excited! Great video!
I love that you are a teacher! There are so many of us on TarotTube! 💖 What grade do you teach? If you order Runic Odyssey, I recommend getting the full-sized version because it comes with a guidebook. The pocket-sized one I have unfortunately doesn't have one, so being that I know next to nothing about runes, I have to look up nearly every pull. 😅 The imagery and keywords on the cards themselves is fantastic, but I wish I would have gotten the version with the guidebook for it to be the ultimate package. Wow! I love hearing that, Megan. 🥰 Do you know which tree you are going to study first? Or are you going to simply pick a card from the deck and let the studies unravel that way? I'm going to stick to my formal study (pre-picked trees) this year, but I'm sensing that I'll shuffle and pick for each tree of the month next year. I don't own any of Stan Tekiela's books, but I imagine much of the information is the same that is found in my Audobon and Peterson field guides.
@@MoonflowerMoments Yes I am new enough to the runes that I would definitely want the guidebook as well. Thank you for suggesting I stick with the regular size version. For the tree study, I take a lot of walks in the forest and when I’m walking, I just allow myself to be drawn to whichever tree is calling to me at that moment. Then that is the tree I sit with, and I study for that week. Last week, I was so drawn to the quaking aspen trees, and have been studying them ever since. It’s been so wonderful and so rewarding so far!
@@MoonflowerMoments Oh and by the way, I teach kindergarten. Sometimes I think about switching to the upper grades because I have a lot of curriculum I’d like to teach the older kids that I really can’t do with kindergartners.
@megadele65 oh, I've heard that the quaking aspens are just glorious! We don't have those down here, but my husband always talks fondly about them when he remembers growing up. I love that method! One of my favorite books, The Path of Druidry, talks about identifying trees as "boundary markers" in your neighborhood and in your larger area. It's one of my favorite ways to engage with them, and it's interesting to see where my idea of a region begins and ends vs. the geographical map. Kindergarten! The littles are an entirely different ballgame from HS. 🙂 I can sympathize with the restlessness that comes after teaching a certain grade for a while (I'm already feeling that way moving into my 5th year of teaching seniors). I hope that if you choose to switch grades, you end up landing exactly where you want to be.
