We start off looking at the ugliest hobo stove on the planet and then break out 4 of my beauties! Of the 4 stoves there are 3 of my favorite styles represented, the #10 bean can stove, the poor man's hobo stove, and the copper bottomed, stainless steel, Revere Ware stove. Come see how beautiful they are in form, function, and fire. Please follow the LINKs below and SUBSCRIBE. Thank You! Hobo Stove Builds Playlist ru-vid.com/group/PLkoXX8XsMW3lZeJRY3SSyPsZBTEWCnHbp

I made a hobo stove from a charcoal starter I put small expanded metal in the bottom to keep wood from falling out and cut a closing door on the side for a feed hole

David, that was exactly the style of charcoal burner I was telling you about before. I don’t have availability to the tins you use, nor the tools… (I’m a 61yo lady 🥴), but the way I have adapted the charcoal burner works very very well for me. I now use 2, and cook my entire meal on them. (And light them using my own made charcloth too).

I can’t remember if you ever used a piece of char cloth in a cotton ball to fire roll. Does that work too? Seeing how rust or wood ash works so well was a mind blower. That new SS hobo stove is gonna stunt yer growth for new stove ideas. Always fun to see you playing. 👍

Love your content. It has allowed me to spark an interest (no pun intended) in my granddaughter. So far tea and hotdogs done on a hobo stove lol. Would high temp paint help longevity or is temp of stove too high? Thanks

Why don’t you like to feed the fire thru the big side opening that you make?
@DavidWestBgood2ppl
@DavidWestBgood2ppl 2 года назад
Piling it all in from the top requires less "fussing with" and less attention. Existing coals are constantly in the way of the feed hole.

I like your hobo stove. But I do have a charcoal starter and I put a price of hardware cloth in the in the bottom which is like 8th of an inch square hols so the ash can fall through. It is a good alternative to your hobo stove. If someone can't make one they can adapt that for a stove in an emergency. I do have 2 number 10 cans set aside for this.
@DavidWestBgood2ppl

There are lots of crafts that can make this stove by following my tutorials. People that can't make these stoves should ask their friends and family that happen to be in these crafts to make it for them... welders, pipe fitters, metal fabricators, steel workers, industrial electricians, HVAC guys, plumbers, auto mechanics, millwrights, sprinkler contractors, etc.

Have you ever made a gasifier stove similar to a Solo Stove? They burn really great. There are videos and I have made one my self out of a quart paint can and an progresso soup can.

I have used a chimney starter as both a hobo stove and a sear station when grilling steaks... It runs HOT !!! I have to either use charcoal or larger wood chunks, as the bottom is wide open and draws in so much air that the burn is insanely fast as well. Good for some things, not so much for others. I mostly use my own homemade hobo stoves, which I prefer by far. It's true, there really is something to be said for cooking and grilling with equipment made by your own hands, a sense of both pride and accomplishment. Keep up the great work with your videos, David - I thoroughly enjoy them all !
