Hey Graeme, the word you were looking for, rather than 'aggressive', to describe Annie's way of asking for massage, might be 'assertive'!!

yes, assertive is a great word for that

Perhaps, but I sure can get both Mocha and Annie to play too. He plays the most though. Also, Roni won't do it at all and Luke doesn't seem to care much for it.

I was SO excited to see Horsey play time!!! MoMo is getting so big. Annie reminds me of Lena, backing it up. "Here's my butt to scratch...please?!" I could watch horsey play time all day. Roni and Luke are hilarious. Mr. Wilde is always down to play with his daddy. Gracie is so energetic and entertaining. 🫠 Joka was a little camera shy today. Everyone's so fluffy and ready for winter. Thanks for sharing, Graeme. Have a great day

I suspect you're talking about fascia (connective tissue); they can be superficial, visceral or deep. I get myo-fascia massage once a month; you are likely feeling knots (also called trigger points) requiring release. There are lots of reasons for developing knots and, at least in my own case, they come and go depending on changes to my body and/or how I use it (or don't). I suspect it's the same for horses, and Annie's knot simply needs release. In addition to going to my massage therapist, I have a few tools to use at home: lacrosse ball, hard foam roller, something resembling a bat'leth, none of which are likely to be effective for a being that muscular :-)

Hey, Graeme~your herd is so amazing...all these different breeds, but still THE horse. A video about the scratches would be nice...do they all desire butt scratches?...are some neck/shoulders only? Obviously co-grooming is different from human scratches, but are they really the "same thing" in a way? Great to see the herd again...might be rain now, but eventually will be wintery mix...or snow 🥶 it's a coming. Thanks for the video.🤗

Hi! Thank you Graeme for the awesome video of the horses, taking time out of your day& week, we appreciate the time and effort. Hope all is ok. Loved Luke playing hide and seek he was really looking for you like "C'mon man I just need another scratchy!" Lol 😂. Annie and Lena are so precise in their backing up toward you to not step on your feet. I wonder if all your horses would pay attention to notice with you? Mr Wilde is so cool playing with his mouth and lips, just had no caresies just enjoying the time with you. Love my pillow with Mr Wilde on it, my new Ragdoll kitten cuddles on it too lol. 🐾👍

You've very welcome! Things are better, but loss takes time and this one will take quite a while longer I think. Life moves on though and so we move forward with it. I'm glad you like the pillow! I use mine everyday and they're very comfy and never lose their shape.

@@StableHorseTraining I understand the loss part losing my Dad (51yrs old 3wks from cancer diagnosis to gone) and putting my 15yr old Ragdoll cat to sleep recently all hits hard, but new kitten helps routine, laughter & calm come back with my kids and I. Sending condolences and positive thoughts, keep going one day at a time.🙏 🇨🇦

I know with dogs you can just sence where they're itchy or just need someone to scratch. I can't explain it either but can't really get that with a brush. If anything hand first then brush if need to get a little deeper.
@StableHorseTraining

yes, good point about a brush after found by hand

Maybe Annie's got a muscle knot or something. I've been watching this chiropractor on RU-vid and he's amazing with horses (and other animals).The relief they get when he finds the trouble spot is wonderful to watch, I can't imagine how great that must make them feel. I wonder if there is such a thing as Horse Massager? 🙂

Horse massaging is a real thing, chiro is not. I believe I know who you're talking about and never thought anything good about his presentation or results. Most people can't read horses and as such the presentation looks amazing but isn't. Snake oil.
