YOOo im from netherlands welcome. i hope you are going to like all our traditional food: Frikandelbroodje, boterham hagelslag, stroopwafel, pepernoten etc. hahah
Your such a hard working man and your work has made so so many people smile and learn. You deserve nothing but the best, and you proved it with your hard work. Success tastes so much sweeter when you’ve worked hard for it. Wishing you huge congratulations and all the best for your achievements. May you enjoy every second of the exciting future ahead of you. 💙
Is this really witty_alien?? Bro I also love your contents. I always try to find tactics in confusing positions cause I learned from you that even the most absurd looking moves could be winning. My goal is to be 1500 and I'm currently 1400ish. I improved a lot and you're contents share a part to my impovement. Wishing you and chessnerd the best♥️💯
Haha I'm Canadian, 15 and I've been posted in the Netherlands/Germany for almost 4 years now. It will be a very big culture shock when you first get here but it is definitely worth it being able to travel to lots of different places, I visited 21 different country's since being here. I'm leaving back to Canada this summer (bittersweet) and I really hope you enjoy your time in Europe. The country's I recommended you visit are Athens, Greece as they have a great chess scene (like lots of people playing street chess) and its really just a beautiful city, and also I would recommended visiting the North of Italy so Florence is a good option too. I really hope you enjoy this change and get used to all the different places quickly. P.S Paris France and France in general isn't that amazing so I wouldn't recommend more than 3 days there.
Absolute unbelievable suggestions!! Thank you so much for taking the time to suggest these good options I really have no clue of Greece's vibrant chess scene!! Sincerely impressed :) Hope to meet you in The Netherlands man you seem like a chill person!!
hi zach! the vlog idea sounds absolutely awesome! i would be more than pleased if you could visit Romania, preferably the capital city, Bucharest. if you end up doing so, please tell the date in one of your videos so me and my friends know when and where to come :)
Bucharest has more chess than many European countries!! I might go there (for sure going to Eastern Europe!) - Will always announce where I will be going on my Instagram story!
I would love to see content that documents your journey, as I am myself getting inspired of planning something similar to this, maybe in 7 years. I'll be following your posts on youtube for sure.
It's nice to see you growing as a content creator. You're pretty sure already of the things you'll be doing in upcoming months. It's well-planned but more importantly, you're not stressing about it but rather seems excited too. I'm also excited to see your vlogs since I know so little about Europe and I love travel videos. Of course, improving in chess is also my goal and hope to gain insights from your uploads Good job and Wish you luck in your studies 💯
This was such a thoughtful and kind message I can't help but give a lengthy reply as well. Thank you for having so much confidence in my endeavours - it really is a testament to your belief in my content creation which is a true gift. It's weird, I'm really not stressed for this...like I am meant for this chapter of my life to happen after grinding content for the past 5 years! We'll see!
Dutch guy who lives near Amsterdam here, good luck on your exchange! I might be biased but think the UvA is a great choice, almost everyone there speaks decent English and the culture is just fantastic (again I might be biased)
Hahaha this is hella cute Zach! I would've NEVER expected to see the Max Euwe museum pop up in a youtube video out of nowhere and I burst out laughing. 💌 I've not yet visited myself, but that outside chessboard area is going to bless your Amsterdam nightlife, you'll see x I'm challenging you to a game there some time 😤 Enjoy your stay bro, you're giga welcome here
Best of luck, sir! You're already a great success and will continue to prosper. Your affable, positive personality glows through your videos and I think everyone has the highest hopes and expectations for you.
Jason, you taught the word affable today - very cool word I will use :) thank you so much for blessing me with those kind words! You're truly a treasure!
Hi Zach, I've been following you for about a year now from the UK (Oxford) would absolutely watch some vlogs you are such a likeable person and it sounds like you have an amazing journey ahead of you which I think a lot of people would be interesting in seeing!
Wish u all the best Zach! Good luck with the exchange to the Netherlands. As good as chess as you already are, there are always improvements that anyone can make so I hope u will also get better at chess.❤❤❤❤
congrats zach, I've been watching you for a while and I'm exited for your change for you too!! I really love your personality and your way of making content, all the best man!
Huge fan from Amsterdam! Hopefully you’ll enjoy your time there! From experience I know that it’s a great city. I’ll hope I’ll see you there (probably not, would love a fan meetup though 😉)
Fan from the Netherlands here! Also studying in Amsterdam, it has been an absolute blast so far. Best of luck to you and your studies and hope to meet you at one of the fan-meetings in the Netherlands ;)
@@thechessnerd Aah no. I study at the other university, the VU. They have a very unique specialized Econometrics and Data Science track which UvA unfortunately did not offer. However, I have some friends who study at UvA. They have all been very excited and positive about the general experience ^^ :)
the vlogs would be great in addition to the tournaments recaps ! wish you all the best in Europe, hope you will come in the south of France sometimes :D
Hey man I quit chess due hard university schedule but seeing you work hard motivated me to play rapid games for 5 hours straight and boosted my elo from 1500 to 1800 which was untouched for 3 years
This is some amazing news!! I'm happy for you. Also, I have wanted you to do some more content on tournaments with a vlog-style format for soooo long so it would be cool if you document some of your games playing in tournaments. I have zero experience with tournaments so I have no idea if it will take you a while to get a title but it would be cool to see you get a title while you are in Europe. Have fun.
Me neither, I'm here along for the adventure wherever it may take me! Will be very excited to film some vlogs around the tournaments too it sounds like a unique and fun idea!!
1. Good luck. 2. Learn the language and culture. With English and French under your wings, Dutch will not be too difficult. Enjoy how relaxed the Dutch are in many ways. 3. Learn to live with rain. Not by fighting it but by rolling with the punches. You may have noticed already that it rains 364 days a year. 4. Thank you for using trains though it takes longer and might be even more expensive than planes. 5. Don't drink alcohol. The Dutch are known for their weed but actually drink like the Germans, Belgiums, Brits, etc. Search for friends who don't hang out in pubs. 6. When you really want to be Dutch with the Dutch, when your Dutch is good enough and you follow the news, go to kleinkunst/cabaret sessions. They are everywhere. That's where the Dutch laugh about themselves to stay relaxed. Enjoy the time with your dad!
Awesome news! You'll love it here in the Netherlands :) Just make sure you're early with arranging a place to live, because there's a shortage of housing, especially in/around Amsterdam. Good luck and enjoy!
This is so cool! I live in Amsterdam and know tons of people that go to UVA. Would love to go to a fan meetup and play you! Good luck in the Netherlands!
Welkom in Nederland! If you need any help dont hesitate to reach out. I just moved to Utrecht but lived 9 years in Amsterdam. Den Haag is not that far. Have a good trip an maybe see you soon
As someone who has lived in the Netherlands for their entire lives, I can tell you this is a fantastic country to live in. I hope you wil like it her, and i think you wil. The university of Amsterdam is a fantastic university and a great choice, you wil enjoy that aswell. Good luck! Maybe we will see you at Tata Steel one day or you could meet Anish.
I am not in the Netherlands at the moment. I am a Turk living in Turkey, but my family lives in Overijssel, the Netherlands. If nothing goes wrong, I'll be moving there in a year. When that time comes, I'd love to play chess with you at blitz and lose and to do that, I would visit Amsterdam. When I said ''hope'' I said it for my own too xd.
One thing u won’t really have here in the Netherlands is amazing food we only are known for our snackbar snacks but the rest of the Netherlands is amazing
Noted! I guess I will discover this for myself - fun fact my dad told me the best meal he had was a five star meal in The Netherlands! Waiter spoke 6 languages 😂
@the chess nerd great to hear :) definitely the Graz Open, this year it had a super strong field, also the St. Veit Open, these are the 2 best fide rated tournaments in Austria I can think of :D
