Hey friends!
Welcome back to my channel! 😊
Today I'm finally sharing the first video of my JET Apartment series.
Join me on a tour of my 'empty' inherited apartment when I first arrived in Japan, talk about some of the fees and costs you may incur and a few other bits and pieces.
Part 2 will be a look at my decorated and furnished apartment (circa 2021) and will probably not take 6+ months to share with you all 😅

You might’ve already done this, but I would highly recommend putting something between the ends of the tables (anything with legs) and the tatami mats. They are easily damaged, and you dont want to end up owing money!! Nice video :)

Yes! I have some mats on my floor to protect the tatami. Luckily for me replacing the tatami mats isn't something I'll be financially responsible for. (They were never replaced before I moved in, so I'm living on multiple tenants worth of damage.)

Wow it’s pretty spacious! I’m not expecting that much. All I want is everything to not constantly be breaking, my own apartment and sunlight.

Those are pretty reasonable wants. Hopefully you get all three! Sunlight might be the hardest one depending on where you end up but you'll hopefully at least get a little balcony which should get a bit of light and fresh air.

@@travellingghost i got a great apartment! Sunlight in the morning, everything’s working well so far, two ac’s, a spare bedroom I never enter. It is a little expensive compared to the others though, so I wish I could trade the room for money. If I stay long I could probably look at smaller, cheaper apartments closer to the city center.

Do they show you how to get to work? I’m considering teaching in Japan. I’m a teacher from the USA and it’s all going to 💩 here for teachers. But I still want to be a teacher.

In my case my supervisor showed me how to get to work by bicycle but just once! I had to find my own way home 😅 you'll hear the phrase "ESID - Every Situation Is Different' thrown around a lot so what's true for me might not be true for you. I do want to add though that teaching here is VERY different to teaching in other countries, but it's a super cool experience if you genuinely want to spend a year or more outside of your comfort zone and try something totally different.
