Washington Gathuki Kinyua who got the name Gathuki Mundu while attending to a work assignment in South Africa, was born and bred in Kandara, Murang’a county. Although he never attended a journalism course before, he has gained popularity in Kenya’s media as a sports journalist.
He later went to JKUAT to pursue a degree course in computer engineering and technology and started his career as an IT expert at Royal Media Services, where he was given a chance by the former head of radio - Zullu Thiong’o, as a voice over artist and later a presenter where he co-hosted alongside Jeff Kuria, the late night show.
He got interviewed for a slot at Radio Africa group as a sports journalist, where he could work at radio jambo and a stand-in at Kiss 100 and Classic 105 sports show on Saturdays.
Gathuki later moved to a mediamax owned station in 2013, when he decided to campaign for the former president Uhuru Kenyatta in the run to 2013 election which was against Radio Africa’s policy.
