@@npc6817 I didn't build the parts my self. I just did the painting. So the hardest part is gathering the information which vendor offers which parts. And the vader-parts-waiting-game .. usually you dont click and buy the items. Its more like entering a queue of people and wait for your spot and then you wait longer for the item bein produced und send to you. It took me about 1.5 years to get everything together + about 1y of research
The suit wasn't scanned it was cast direct from the inside of my original screen used suit. So it doesn't get anymore screen accurate than that. Great video Thanks for the mention!!!
Well done brother ! Been in 10 years myself now and I cannot say how amazing its been to put smiles on soooo many faces that really needed a little lift !
I’m getting a RS Propmaster armor soon, do you recommend the PVC or ABS. I’m also looking to join the 501st with this armor. I’m not great at DIY so the less work the better. I just want to wear the armor. Great video
TK/TS/CC-2390 15.5 years with the 501st Legion. Excellent video! Keep on trooping! I have RS Prop Masters Brian Muir Signature Edition Armor - top notch armor.
TI/ID 19728. Active member of several 501st detachments. Have 20 costumes. And love it. If u want to be the action figure. Join. And also give back to many different worthy causes.
If I were to join the 501st id really like to be a 21st Nova Corps Galactic Marine. Love that center point between imperial and republican snowtrooper. Also they killed one of my favorite jedi during order 66 (Ki Adi Mundi) which makes me respect their capability in a way. Seems like an awesome community but the process comes off as somewhat intimidating to someone like me who has no experience what so ever in cosplay. But these gatherings and meetings seem to help people get a bit more into their costumes. The more experienced members helping and guiding. Even if i never make it into the 501st you guys have definatly kept my Star Wars spirit going and my connection with the force has never been stronger. Thank you.
IN-59053 Midwest Garrison started with a Navy Trooper about to be a Tie Pilot. My first troop i made it on the news as well.*update now about to submit my 3rd costume scout trooper.
I’ve tried to join. I’ve reached out to my local garrison and sent them pictures. They just sent me a bunch of links for pictures references. I’ve seen them troop in person my armor looks more up to date then theirs. I’ve asked when thy are having their next armor party, hoping for some help to get my membership . I’ve got my armor from a member that vacuum forms armor here in my own town. He’s is a inactive member you could say. he’s actually given me more help then the actual active members. Seems like they’re to busy to help /:
How would I find out who or where my local 501st group is? I don’t think there is anyone in my local area and I’m hoping to join when I can get my own armor
Randomly found your video and I'm glad I did. I live in the same area and have been contemplating trying to join 501st. I'll definitely take your advice and get on the forums and check out the guides for the costumes. Also subbed because I always like to support my fellow Carolinians. 😁
Hey Mark, I know this video is a few years old but are you still trooping and in the Charlotte area? I’m in Concord and waiting on my TK armor to be delivered. Just wanted to get in contact with someone local. I’ve met a few members of the Carolina Garrison, but they live a little ways away. I’ll be in need of a little help once my armor gets here. I appreciate any help, thank you!!
I’m a bit scared of joining because I have no experience and don’t know where I would start. Like I’m not capable of making a screen accurate armor by myself and I am wondering if they help you when making your costume and what level of help they give you.
If you want to be a TK, most people buy their armor from vendors who specialize in making the gear and you just put it together yourself- or even buy ready-to-wear armor. whitearmor.net is for stormtroopers
SL-11560 from Bloodfin here. Don’t be intimidated. No one expects you to physically build your costume yourself. There are companies that sell kits and individual vendors that sell components. My costume is ESB Vader and I didn’t build a thing. I bought the helmet from one guy, the cape from another, etc.
Greeting from Quebec garrison great video I really like your video explaining the goals of the group. Been trooping as Vader for many years and it’s still fun to do all kinds of activities. SL19723
SL/TS 4142: Midsouth Garrison Mos Nooga Squad There also these groups Rebel Legion: Good Guys Mando Mercs: mandalorians The Dark Empire: Custom and Dark side characters Jedi Assembly: Jedi Saber Guild: Performance Group
Fun fact, the 501st was asked to fill in stormtroopers in the Mandalorian, because they ran out of costumes. That is why there are all the white, new looking, stormtroopers
I’m a little young but I have the money and I’m tempted to buy the armor I want (Scout Trooper TB) in preparation, that way I can get used to it (and look cool on Halloween), Im only 15 and the age limit is 18. So I’d have to wait a few years before I’m able to join, do you think I should wait or should I just go for it and buy the armor and have it for a few years before joining?
Help me understand something. Each local legion has people who play characters. If I get approved as Kylo Ren and there's already someone who is Kylo in the group how does that work with events?
The Dude Events are posted and open to all members to attend but are generally treated on a first come basis. It’s rare that we get two Vader’s or Kylo’s wanting to attend the same event and when we do it’s either whoever responded first or they figure it out amongst themselves. For the larger/longer events (4+ hours, multiple days) we’ll often have both attend so they can relieve each other throughout the event. Also, a lot of the people who are the major names characters have other approvals like TK’s so they can always do something else.
@@zacjohnson452 yeah duh. Lol I like the symmetrical ones better. I’ve heard arguments about proper Star Wars costumes on par with arguments in re-enactment communities. At least with re-enactment we’re talking about emulating uniforms and events that actually happened.
Man I've always loved and been interested in the 501st, it's actually a small dream of mine (As I'm sure most people's dreams are who enter) I'm actually figuring out what I want to do, and getting my armour set up, but I can't join because of age restrictions :/ Although, sometime in the future i'll be able to join, have any tips for anything? - (In the future, hopefully) TK-40151
Pick a costume you LOVE first. Once you are set on what you want to be, do your research on 501st forums to be directed to the right armor supplier. There are many armor makers you should avoid. Before you have your armor and while building it, be a handler for the troops to get a feel for things and help the troopers.
@@revengeoftheseth I've been doing a lot of reading and for my first set I'd just like to have a ANH Stunt. I've also been doing some more looking around and settled on Armor Master, and have been looking to get my weapon from Praetorian Blasters.
@@scout_troop3r there is a facebook build group dedicated to AM TKs. I would recommend joining to see other builders progress and ask questions if you get stuck. Praetorian makes good blasters from what I hear from my Garrison mates.
I am looking to join the 50 first I picked two armor sites one is the one you mentioned the IRS prop masters but I found the original guy that has all the rights to the armor and his site is original storm trooper.com so I was wondering if anybody had opinions on the two sites
