In this video, I'm sharing my story of how biologics changed everything for me with ulcerative colitis. I chronicle my journey from diagnosis to the moment I finally discovered that entyvio was the answer to my prayers.
If you're living with ulcerative colitis (UC) or have a family history of the disease, then you need to watch this video. I share my story of how biologics changed everything for me, from my diagnosis to the moment I finally discovered that entyvio was the answer to my prayers. I hope that my story will help you to understand and connect with the Ulcerative Colitis community.
This was my first Entyvio biologics infusion to treat my ulcerative colitis with many more to come. Sometimes all we need is to know someone else has gone through what we are going through.

Thank you so much for your video. I have UC for close to ten years and it feels like I’ve been in a constant flare for the last 3 years. Since January it’s been EXTREMELY bad. I’m also on melasalamine. Some periods I was close to remission but always had some sort of symptom still. I totally understand that stigma. My whole family was against me getting on a biologic and kept saying “diet” “stress control”. I did two weeks of just straight juicing and tried various other uc diets. I’ve tried all these different supplements and tried rebuilding my gut microbes. But my symptoms have just gotten so bad. I’m going for a colonoscopy in two days. My doctor plans to go straight for entyvio. Im hoping it changes my life! Thanks for sharing your experience

Hey! 27 years old here, thanks for the channel. My doctor stated that I had a signs of UC in my body this year. Internal bleeding is my main symptom, and it's hard for me to understand why it keeps occuring even with medications and diet changes and getting into the habit of exercise while destroying other bad habits. Anyways, excited to here your take on supplements, and I hope you can recover from whatever state you want to get out of, so that I can learn from your experiences in this channel!

Hey Daniel thanks for this comment, I was diagnosed with UC at 27 as well. I feel you -- it's confusing and really sucks when you're trying your best to do everything right and still not getting the results. In my experience it's a lot easier when you have community who understands the struggle to lean on, so thank you again for sharing. It encourages me to keep posting about my journey on this channel, and I really hope I can provide some content that helps. You/We got this.

@@malimbep4298 HI Malimbe no side effects which is great. Entyvio is supposed to be relatively side effect free and that has been my experience so far but I will keep you updated if anything changes.

Hello brother thanks for sharing your experience Can you tell me how long it took you to actually start seeing results after the first infusion? For example did you start having solid stools and no pain in your stomach as if you dont have the disease? I'm very worries about not getting results or even make my sitation worse, I have been struggling for 6 years now getting 3-4 bad flares a year!

I really understand what you’re saying. I have Crohn’s and Pettit for many years ago in and out of remission. I’m starting Biologics now. Nothing else is helping me prednisone I’ve been on it’s just tiring. Good luck you’ll feel better.

Hi Cathy Thank you. I had a similar experience where the only thing that helped was prednisone but that can become tiring quick. I am on my 9th month of Entyvio and I have not felt this good since my UC symptoms began to show around 6 years ago. I hope the biologics work well for you.

I have CD and my doc recommended to start treatment with Hulio but I'm afraid of the potential severe life threatening side effects and complications that this type of medication can have. I already have an ileostomy and had a part of my colon removed hopping to get reconnected in September. My case was very bad,life threatening bad but now I'm doing well or almost well cause according to my doc the disease is active. If anyone has experience with Hulio please tell me how was it for you? Hope you and all of us with IBDs to feel better and have a life without the constant anxiety these diseases make us go through.

Just came across this. I have UC went from Proctitis to Pancolitis. In the past year have had two very challenging flare ups. Now I'm about a month or so away from starting Remicade. I'm kinda scared but I want my life back.

Hi I’m sorry to hear about your struggles. Obviously I can’t recommend anything g you have to do what’s best for your situation. As far as my experience with Entyvio I am one year with treatment and it has given me my life back. I hope you find the relief you are looking for

Hi Kim thank you for sharing. I’m sorry to hear about your struggles! I know it can be frustrating. Although you seem like you are handling it well. After 4 months of getting Entyvio infusions I am very happy with the results. I wish I started it sooner. I hope you get the same relief from your symptoms and that it can help you live a little more fully. Although it is not a cure it gives a chance to rehab your gut to better Heath. Good luck Kim

The biggest issue with biologics is the reliance on the medical system, increased cancer risks and lowered immune system which makes you vulnerable. I personally think the surgery is a better option if we consider long term health.
@iamchasewheeler
@iamchasewheeler 11 месяцев назад
Those are all great points and reasons I tried to avoid biologics for as long as possible, especially having to be dependent on the medical system. As far as long-term effects Entyvio has shown to be extremely safe in most individuals but for sure there will always be a small sample of the population who will develop complications. I personally would prefer infusions every 8 weeks as opposed to a colostomy bag but definitely choose whatever you are most comfortable with.

I totally agree I prefer the surgery too. I am not keen on taking steroids biologics or Jak inhibitors. Too many serious side effects for my liking. I have Crohn's by the way.

Hi there, I saw your video today. I was diagnosed with UC three months ago. I was hospitalized for 2 weeks because of CMV as well. After the hospital, everything was good my symptoms were gone but then they came again. So that my doctor started the biological treatment. I took the first dose two weeks ago and again symptoms were gone. However they all started again 3-4 days ago, I took the second dose yesterday but I still have symptoms. The main symptoms are bleeding and stomach pain. I thought that I needed to be patient about this treatment but getting in and out of these symptoms makes me feel bad. What is your experience within two to three doses?
@iamchasewheeler
@iamchasewheeler Год назад
Hi Ömer I am sorry to hear about your struggles but I had a similar experience. I began enytvio with a loading period where I received infusions at 0, 2, and 6 weeks. I saw improvements but with each round, I noticed symptoms returning a few days before I was due for my next treatment. It wasn't until my week 6 treatment that I really began to see and feel a difference. In addition to entyvio I stayed away from my trigger foods (gluten, dairy, high sugar) and practiced all of my good gut health habits (probiotics, reduced stress, light exercise). I think that really helped speed up the process. I understand your fear as I had the same ones, but I think the fact that you responded well for your first treatment is a good sign. When you feel down just keep in mind it also took me about 5-6 weeks to really feel and notice the difference. I really hope this path works for you. Open to answering any other questions about my journey,

Since you are in remission with biologicals do you basicaly live your life as if you dont have uc, being able to eat whatever you want?
@iamchasewheeler
@iamchasewheeler 8 месяцев назад
Great question. No, I still eat as though I have UC for a few reasons. My hypothesis is that biologics block the signals that trigger your body to attack your GI tract, but they do nothing to repair the GI tract. Although I am in remission I know that after years of inflammation and a damaged GI tract, I need to do major repairs to my gut. My focus is on repairing my GI tract by reducing inflammation and rebuilding the gut lining. For that reason, I do my best to avoid inflammatory foods. I also consume sources of prebiotics, probiotics, postbiotics, collagen, and glutamine. All of which help repair your gut ecosystem and rebuild your gut lining. These repairs will take just as long if not longer than the amount of time I suffered from UC. These are just my thoughts based on my research. Your GI doctor and others may disagree with this assessment but many of the 'whatever you want' foods are not good for all people including those with and without IBD.

Hi, I am not sure of my Vitamin D levels at that time. I do try to supplement with Vitamin D/K2 regularly although adimmitingly I do it with a blind eye in regards to my vitamin levels. I would love to do a full blood pannel test, if you have suggestions of companies that do that for a reasonable price please let me know.

Hi Kim that you for sharing. I really hope it helps your UC symptoms. I think it is definitely the Benadryl that has you sleepy as I do not get those side effects from the infusion alone. Hopefully you respond well to the treatment and no longer need Benadryl. Good luck!

What are biológica?
@iamchasewheeler
@iamchasewheeler Год назад
Hi biologics are a type of medicine used in a lot of diseases that prevent your cells from taking certain harmful actions. They interfere with signals sent and received by cells that cause inflammation so your body does not mount an immune response.
