7:45 there is a certain liquid spray that you can apply before welding. keeps those bubbles away or makes them easy to remove. otherwise, painting it over just feels terribly wrong.
@@HazardGarage try ten. Then i can finish the vid before my mom comes back from the shops. Might be hard to do something that takes a year in 10 minutes but drink some Gatorade and anything is possible
Uplifting to see guys who keep everyone else's cars going get the opportunity to work on their own cool projects and get to flex their car guy muscles. Old Miatas are pretty special for being easy to get and sorta cheep and...great fun. Seeing one get saved, then have a lot of really thoughtful changes put into it to music that was like a nujabes tape was therapeutic. Thanks guys, great job.
This car is literally perfect and almost exact what i wanted to do with one. Showed me it wasn't crazy. I hope to do a build someday half as amazing as this.
As a soon to be Miata owner, current mechanic and previously bodywork specialist, I give you a 10 out of 10 man, your work to this car was just outstanding and I can't wait to look at more of your work.
Hell yeah, Harry! Loved the whole 15 minutes. 4 months ago I decided to do the same thing with my civic which hasn't ran for 6 years. Said fuck it and decided to rebuild. Only difference is I have friends doing it for me since I'm in Seattle. Maybe we cruise when I'm back in town and the car is finished!
Nice man but if you do this again I strongly suggest you don't cut the tabs off when doing the fender flares. Cutting them off does 2 things on a unibody car, 1 it comprises lateral strength in the rest of the body panels that were cut and if your driving can cause the fenders to rattle and 2 unless you seal that opening water will get in-between the outer layer and the inner layer which will cause rust and rot. Rather than cutting them all the way off you can roll them into the wheel well then just seal by undercoating the well. Just an observation but other than that beautiful job 🤙🤌🤙
@@shplayshiggty7537 yes! good points. I sealed the rear fenders. I feel cutting was necessary though because my wider tire and wheel set up. But interesting to see examples of flaring instead of cutting.
Neat tip! Thanks! I definitely will make an updated video one day with things I've learned and how I could do it better. I wonder what car will be my next victim lol
The first time i saw this video i kept avoiding it because it looked like a hotwheel and after months and months i finally gave in and watched it and all i can say is thats amazing
Love the build. If I were to change anything, I’d add a hardtop, and change the calipers and engine cover to black or a color that doesn’t clash with red. Yellow and blue just look funky to me with a red car.
Hard top cost as much as the car! lol I liked the yellow calipers, but agree with the valve cover...honestly not sure why i went blue lol but black or red would be my choice now.
It's really amazing what this kid did with a junkyard Miata by himself and I just love these time-lapse builds that showcase the value of a little (or a lot in this case) sweat equity.
New subscriber and I’m here to stay! Currently in my third year of university studying mechanical engineering and now I’m saving money to buy my own Miata!!! I would love to do a project like this one!!! You guys are awesome!!! Keep going with your work, it’s incredible!!! 🙇🏻♀️🙆🏻♀️🍃🍃
Thank you! I hope you do get to build one, and build a better one than this! These are very fun little cars with a lot of different possibilities. Welcome aboard!
@@jessefoster6653 are you referring to the Japanese start up sound? Because that is very real 🤣. Made a DIY video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qWjCj4Z8I1Q.html
I'm surprised you didn't do the Rx7 mod with the half flipped lights or at least have a toggle switch for closed, half way up, and fully raised. Very beautiful build 👌 if I wasn't 6ft 5 I'd love to own one of these 😂
Excellent job man, I brought my miata for $600 a few years ago. It was in similar condition as yours but instead of having damage due to a crash it came with an automatic transmission LOL. I had fun swapping that for a 5 speed.
After your rebuild, you could have left enough viewing time for us to look at and drool over your finished efforts. In clude day light as well as night visions. Enjoyed your work; am subscribing NOW.
My favourite part of this whole video was the slo mo after shot where you had to highlight those killer CROCS!! Caught me so off I actually had a laugh 😂😂
haha technically not all for $900. But I bought the car for $900 but even with the all the mods it still came out to a pretty reasonable price. I'll be releasing a price breakdown video very very soon. So make sure you're subscribed to notified.
@@HazardGarage They seem click baity and disingenuous to me. They never indicate it's a time lapse and that it was a build done in hours sometimes days. You on the other hand did put Timelapse in the title! Thank you
