Oh my gosh! ".. And not because I don't want to teach my kids. So if that was gonna be your comment, save it." 😂😂😂 That just seriously made my morning. Favorite line of you entire video, hands down. Ignore the haters. You're obviously doing a great job with your kids (and you know it 👍😊). Thanks for the great ideas for how to structure the day. That would work really well for my family too with how our days go. Makes A LOT of sense.

Thanks for the awesome video! We have 3 days left of private school! Homeschooling here we come!! I don’t think people realize the importance of independent work. I’m currently working at my girls’ school so I understand how important it is. Also, “we’re being flexible” are words we use often in the classroom. Great job on the video, all of your content has been a HUGE help to me!

Yes!! 🙌 a schedule in detail as far as times and pages to complete, etc. makes my anxiety go through the roof! I feel like we couldn’t enjoy school because it was unnecessary pressure. We also do a flow schedule and just do a lesson a day. It saves so much stress and saves sanity for everyone and there are no tears from either of us this way 🤣 Another great video, Ashlee! Thank you for sharing with us!

It’s nice to see I’m not the only one statistically having to juggle four kids. Our only issue, we have therapy for my daughter 6 times a week, extra activities like ballet and Trail Life / American Heritage Girls, ect... Almost every day looks different. We get everything done, but it get absolutely crazy sometimes. Do have those days too?

We do something similar. I do write specific lessons in planners, but I only fill out one week at a time for my older 2. They like to see their week in advance. It is motivating for their personalities. I got a little set of stamps, so it takes me all of 7 minutes to fill things in for them on a Saturday or Sunday evening. I found I didn't have to nag when I just wrote out all their work at the beginning of the week. If they get behind, they know what I expect them to have done by Friday afternoon. It was a God-thing because I had baby #4 last year and I was pretty overwhelmed until this epiphany. I am all about helping them to be as independent as I can. I want to give them habits now that will help them succeed in their adult lives.

The Brave Homeschooling Mama same here. I got a pretty planner two years ago and tried to plan at least a 6 week block, but then if someone got sick or life got in the way we fell behind. It just really stressed me out, so we just take it one day at a time and keep plugging along a lesson at a time.

I love your videos! This was great to see the routine you use and I adore you for not having a schedule broken down by time/date/etc. That is so overwhelming to me. I do the same as you are doing with a few exceptions. I have a toddler so there is a bit more of scheduled breaks, mom interruptions, etc but he usually just follows me around while I school his siblings and loves to sit and "do his school work" while I work with his 5 year old brother.

Thanks for this. Homeschool mom of 4 here, also. This is essentially what I do as well. Yes! Validation! 😊 If I can offer one piece of unsolicited advice, as a mom who put one kid in piano this past year, it's hard to get enough practice in 30 minutes one day per week. Now, if this is just for fun, ignore me. And I get the whole not having four keyboards thing. But if you had, say, a half an hour after dinner for a couple kids apiece, and maybe another half hour some other time during the day, so everybody's getting 30 minutes a day (or even 20), most days, I think you'll see better results.

I plan our school one week at a time, generally. At least with our two middle school kids. The upcoming high schooler will have one delineated lesson a day in each of the subjects required for his transcript. He wants to be as independent as possible, while the other two prefer to interact.

Hi Ashlee, we do very similar as you. We have a baby so our morning basket may happen in the afternoon on her nap. I’m curious, how long does it take for you to do your morning basket? And your bible devotional time? I know you don’t have a set time, we don’t either, we can take a long time doing basket time and that’s why I’m curious! Thank you! Oh another note, do you have quiet time? I can’t seem to add that in because of baby/toddler schedule. We play when she is awake. Tried doing school with her and it doesn’t work well!

Hi Ashlee! I've come back a few times to this video as we just started our year this week, so thank you! :) I was wondering if the schedule you have for each of the kids is the same every day (therefore one schedule in their binders)? Two of our days are different and I was wondering if I should print out schedules for each of the days. Have you done that in the past or what would suggest if days looks different and you aren't covering every subject every day? Hope that makes sense!!

Ok question, we are in a situation where my kids are trying to move quickly to catch up bc they can but I also don’t want to skip ahead in fear of missing something and having gaps in their learning. So in my situation I would love to do a lesson a day but sometimes they fly through it and we need to do a couple more.
