I discovered your channel from your crisis core journey and I couldn’t stop reminiscing about Zack then I saw you did kingdom hearts and I was like I gotta see this journey as well, especially since birth by sleep was next on the list, my favorite kingdom hearts. But I don’t know if you realized but when zigbar says to Xion in 358/2 days how come when he looks at her he sees him, that him is actually Ven.
Gotta wonder what the heck did they change that for? Not only does it make that moment Ven gives them to Terra and Aqua that much more poignant, but the whole scenario makes generally way more sense, if Scrooge meant the two extra tickets to be for Ven's parents, instead of just randomly telling him to invite "two grownups".

Funny that you find it grating it's actually The Mickey Mouse March without lyrics from The Mickey Mouse Club an old TV show from early Disney Channel that also got brought back for later generations like in the 80's and 90's and as you should know it's also used in KH and KH2 for Disney Castle yeah they had to put it somewhere at least 3 times it seems go figure
Fun Fact: In the japanese version of the script, the "take two grownups" line is instead "take your parents" which means that Ventus sees Terra and Aqua as his parents. And that's adorable.

Aqua at the end realizing that the same little boy who she spoke to at Destiny Islands, the one she told to be strong and rescue his friend were he ever to go into the darkness, was the very same boy that would save everybody was so damn amazing. I loved it
Remember that scene in KHII with Xemnas speaking to Aqua’s armor, calling it his friend? And that other scene with Xigbar and Zexion, talking about the two rooms and two friends that Xemnas seeks. Basically he sent the Organization to Castle Oblivion for the sole purpose of finding Ven, but even Xemnas didn’t know why. Also, now you know why Roxas looks like Ven. It’s why Roxas doesn’t look like Sora, can use a keyblade and has genuine emotions. He’s a Nobody with a heart-the wrong heart. Ven’s heart in Sora’s body.
It's funny he is looking for Ventus even if he doesn't know it and yet he thinks she's there with him oh how little he knows (I love Xemnas' character and voice by the way and when KH4 comes out he might just return just because Nomura says so even if he is both Xehanort and Terra's Nobody it could still happen after all this is Nomura we're talking about after all he can do whatever he wants and if Xemnas returns I'll be welcoming him with open arms question is will he be a villain or an unlikely ally it could happen under mutual understanding if the occasion calls for it because it could joining forces against a greater foe sure it's cliche but well KH is pretty full of cliches so what's wrong with one more I mean it already has escort missions and vehicle sections why not add the past enemy changes sides against a greater foe cliche I mean why not right?) Ugh. The realization that you’ve been fighting Terra the whole time as Ansem and then Xemnes is one of the biggest plot twists I’ve ever experienced. Your reaction was so close to mine and I feel like I haven’t seen anyone else give such a good one! This was fun to watch

I love how everyone has the same reaction to playing BBS for the first time. Going from "This will be fun! We get to learn more about stuff before Sora!" and ending with "Why did you have to gouge my heart out with a dull spoon?"

Normally characters like Sora, where it's all about them never faltering on their path and always are happy-go-lucky, don't do anything for me. But Sora's such an amazing exception, and idk if it's because I have the nostalgia for him as I've been with him for YEARS of my life, or if it's cause I'm such a Disney fanboy, or some other third thing... but just seeing how much he truly carries in his heart (with A LOT OF THAT BEING TAKEN LITERALLY) and still going strong just really pulls at my heartstrings in the right way. And seeing him carry the burden of caring for those around him back when he was a LIL BABY BOI is just so gut-wrenching, and it makes me so happy that he's so pure of heart.
The great thing about Sora's character is, despite going through so much and dealing with a lot of hardship and changes, he manages and learns how to maintain that happy-go-lucky, caring and heart-of-gold personality, even as he grows up. There are subtle details showing his budding maturity, but the fact that he does struggle with issues and inner fears, really adds to his characterization. He stands out more than most using his base archetype, and I love that about him (not to deterr from other characters like him, but yeah). :)
I think the reason why Sora’s character is so powerful despite being this happy-go-lucky character is because he was never supposed to be chosen. During the first Kingdom Hearts Riku was meant to be the keyblade‘s chosen one but failed due to the fact that he was consumed by darkness. And it is because of that split moment that the keyblade ended up picking Sora. In fact it’s something Sora has talked about throughout the series. He recognizes he was never actually supposed to be a keyblade wielder but choses to keep pushing forward in hopes of saving his friends and the world. So yeah some people might see Sora as “annoying” because of how optimistic he is. In my opinion not only does this optimistic trait make him such a wonderful protagonist but it goes to show that despite the fact that all of the forces are against him he will continue to push forward and be the hero the world needs. 🥺💗
sora is such an amazing character. his mother really raised him right, and i’m sure that she would be so proud to see how far he has come from that little boy who opened his heart to a total stranger in need. Kingdom hearts is just such a special series
This has always been my top Kingdom Hearts game; The combat system is fun as heck, the ability to get whatever powers you want as long as you know your recipes, the heartbreak, the soundtrack and the fact that this is where so much stuff in the series originated. I've been watching all your Kingdom Hearts experiences and couldn't wait for this one!

My favorite character changes throughout the years with each subsequent play through of this game and Aqua is currently winning out in that race. She is just this capable, intelligent, wonderful, and responsible person that I think many of us can look up to for an example of what a strong individual looks like. Seeing her struggle to hold on to her childhood light for as long as she can is something I think most adults can relate to and identify with. And this is just a third of the wonderful story that is Birth By Sleep, my favorite of the series in terms of narrative and gameplay.
ugh that Sora bit at the end always gets me. All their hopes lying on the one boy whose light will free all their hearts. cant wait to see you enjoy Dream Drop Distance and Finally KH3
@Kelvin G my understanding is that she does remember him and all she felt at the time they met at Destiny Islands. She felt a very strong light in him and considered him worthy of the Keyblade, but because Terra had made Riku a keyblade wielder, she just told Sora to watch over Riku if he ever wondered in the darkness. So... I believe she felt her gut was right all along, and she gets emotional knowing that he might even be the one that will one day save them all
"Sora" also means 'sky' in Japanese. That's why in the final scene where Ven and Terra say "Sora" it shows the scene from the start of the game where they talked about the sky. And why Aqua reacted as if the name Sora was itself meaningfull to her. The scene still works in English, but it looses this additional nuance.

Worthy of note: In this game, Xehanort was voiced by Leonard Nimoy - the original Mr. Spock on Star Trek, and later the voice of Galvatron in the original 1980's Transformers movie. And Master Eraqus was voiced by Mark Hamill - Luke Skywalker in all of the Star Wars movies, and the voice of the Joker in one of the Batman animated series.
Too many: "KH is a game for children..." Me: "As if." I played the original (not Final Mix) on the PSP a few years after launch. I really enjoyed it as a game even then, but having played it again this summer, many years later with a more adult head... damn what a story. Kingdom Hearts 2 will always be my favorite as a whole for personal reasons, but BBS is right behind in second place. I would love a new game with a similar combat system, maybe more balanced, because BBS was fun, but too unbalanced in skills.
Honestly I can 100% agree story wise for me its 2 then BBS and then DDD gameplay its 2 then 3 and finally DDD despite being just as unbalanced as the other deck games flow motion was a nice touch to DDD
I almost lost it at the part where you started coming up with a Terra × Viewer fanfiction because you were so upset with Cinderella choosing Charming over him. 😂
Aquas VA did such a powerful and good job with her voice acting. It’s still just as good in KH3. She has to have delivered some of the best voice acting
I know the recommended order is Terra->Ventus-> Aqua, but I think starting with Ventus is highly underrated, and my personal favorite order to get the story.
Its actually terra or ventus as first and second And only aqua is always last. If we play terra we will have our adventures fighting darkness. If we play as ven first we have no idea if terra is actually bad or not But aqua cleans everyone mess so she needs to be played last

Okay, lemme clarify what Xehanort has been doing to Terra. It's actually some intense psychological warfare. Picture yourself as Terra - you slipped up during the Mark of Mastery exam because you accidentally channeled darkness. This mission is your chance to make up for that failure. The first world you end up in is Enchanted Dominion, where the only conscious person you can find points you to Princess Aurora's chambers. You unlock the barrier to find her, only for that person from earlier to enter as well and hypnotize you into holding your Keyblade out to _allegedly_ steal Aurora's heart...except it turns out Xehanort was doing the heart-extracting behind the scenes. But you don't know that yet, and that evil fairy tells you it was your fault when you didn't realize it. You exercise good self-control in the next two worlds, and finally meet Xehanort again. What you hear from him sounds honest enough, only because it partially is. He warns that Vanitas is a danger to any of the light, potentially including your best friend Ventus. So you go to Radiant Garden, but you end up getting into an argument with Aqua because of what she said about Master Eraqus's worries. Shortly afterward, some shady guy approaches you, claiming that he captured Xehanort. So you track him down, and sure enough, Xehanort is weakened and in chains. That shady guy tries to gun you down to take your Keyblade, bluffing that he'll blow up Xehanort if you try to fight back. But Xehanort encourages you to stand up, for the sake of your master's and friends' honor. Fed up with this shady guy, you end up channeling darkness to strike him back. You realize what you just did, and you feel even more ashamed. In that moment, Xehanort gives you the kindly assurance you've been so starved for. With renewed self-esteem, you keep on going, more prepared to get better control of your darkness to protect your friends. After some more exploring, you hear that Ven is going to confront Eraqus to demand answers. You hurry back to the Land of Departure, and what should you find but Eraqus about to blast Ven with chains of light. You rush in and try to talk Eraqus out of doing this, but he stubbornly refuses to back down. He's too strong for you to fend off, forcing you to channel more darkness for the sake of protecting Ven. Luckily, you stop the fight. Both of you weary, you finally manage to start reconciling. ...Well, Xehanort can't have that. He's gonna have to go all-out in pushing you over the edge. He'll kill your master right in front of you. Destroy your home. Threaten to kill Ven and Aqua if you don't come to the Keyblade Graveyard. So you have to go to the Keyblade Graveyard. Good news - you finally reunite with your two friends. Bad news - not long after, Xehanort forces you away from them. Worse, he and Vanitas won't let you get near them. You just got back together, and Xehanort has forced you apart just as quickly! Enough is ENOUGH! ...But only now has he truly won. Your heart is emitting so much darkness, it's open for Xehanort to possess your body, trapping your heart and expelling your soul. If your armor wasn't around, your soul would just be gone. But it doesn't matter - Xehanort still gets away with your body. ...Ahem, TLDR. - Terra's self-esteem was already shaken after the exam. - He goes to Enchanted Dominion, and Maleficent gaslights him into thinking he did bad to Aurora's heart. His self-esteem is hurt even more. - Xehanort tells Terra about Vanitas, which makes him even more concerned about his best friend Ventus. - He reunites with his friends, but what he hears from Aqua makes him on-guard, making him leave them in a huff. - Braig goads Terra into fighting to save Xehanort, frustrating him enough to unleash darkness. His self-esteem takes another big blow, so Xehanort steps in to reassure him, give him the compliments he's been starved for. He feels a little better. - Terra hears that Ven is going to grill Eraqus for answers. He makes it back home in time to see Eraqus about to attack Ven. He jumps in to protect Ven, forced to unleash more darkness just to match Eraqus. - The fight stops after both sides were worn out. Just as the two are about to reconcile, Xehanort switches tactics and snipes Eraqus right in front of Terra, then destroys his home and threatens to kill Ven and Aqua if he doesn't follow him. - At the Keyblade Graveyard, the three friends finally reunite. But then Xehanort splits Terra away from the other two, and keeps him away from them even as their lives are genuinely threatened. This pushes him over the edge.
Great vid, as always… BBS is imo one of the more underappreciated titles, and one where its story is dark. I’m sad though, if you had a reaction to where Zack asks Aqua on a date, you didn’t show it here! Otherwise, “Kairi is 40!” is enough lol
I'm sure you've put this together already, but the reason Roxas looks like ventus is because ventus was already sleeping in sorts heart when sora freed Kairi's heart. Soras nobody just yoinked ventus's form. Amazing reactions to an amazing series, glad to see the love for such a deserving series
Not sure if you ever tried, but in KH2 Final Mix, you have a secret boss that is Terra's animated armor. It's called Lingering Will and it's one of the toughest bosses in the series.

Can we appreciate the OG Xahanort the late great Lenord Nimoy 🙌🏽. He was so badass as a voice actor in this game. I wish he made it to KH3 .. RIP legend 👏🏽

Ive just realised that in the first scene where aqua goes over ventus and ventus says gimme a break aqua was the scene with kh1 where sora says the same to kairi. Yeee I dont have a life😊😊
I find this channel so interesting cause I recently started my kingdom hearts journey after the sora in smash reveal, and everytime I beat a game in the franchise her videos of the SAME game I just beat pops up and it keeps continuing 🤣🤣 at first I didn’t think of anything the first 2 times (kh1, com) but now I just find it hilarious. I just finished recoded yesterday and I’m moving onto DDD now so I guess I’m ahead this time 😭

As a long time KH fan, I have been enjoying your first time experiences. Since I've been playing the series for about 15 years so I never knew what some of these games felt like for the first time as an adult. It's interesting to watch, and also a lot of fun. I'm glad you're enjoying the ride.
