I love my KM2. Went with Tactical Ice livery, with gold engine/weapons and a matching HUD. (used a third party editor)

@@abelireviews Im not sure it would bring up anything relevant, I made the name up myself! but the search did bring back Elendil from LOTR, which is close to the vibe i was going for. Alendiel comes from the name of a ship from an old writing project of mine, named for a ship from a race of spacefaring angels.

Lord of the Rings came up when I dropped it into Google. I like it even more now I know it’s unique.

Thanks Abeli's husband. Im with you on the advanced docking computer, I never fly without it. It saves you so much grey hair when you absolutely need to get up and attend to something quickly. Also I think the shield strength value drops down to 90% with the bi-weave not loses 90%

I appreciate you taking the time to say you also use the docking computer. Getting a little validation from the community is always appreciated. Thank you 😀

I use one as well. Sure, I could dock myself, but I don't NEED to. Sometimes the extra time is worth it.

The advanced Docking Computer really comes into play when you're going down to land on planets. Just startet playing ED again doing ExoBio with my Krait MK2....and that was a pain to find a manual landing spot. So i pickes up an advanced DC and that does the job for you.

100%. It makes landing on planets a breeze. The Krait is one of our favorite ships too 😀

I don't know about using a Krait for ExoBio. Some planets (and some species) have terrain that's a real challenge for medium/large ships to land at all. I much prefer my long-jumping DBX for Exo.

It's not perfect, but not too bad. However, you’re right; smaller ships provide excellent mobility when landing on planets.

I'm 100% with you on the docking computer. I *know* I can easily dock manually, and without embarrassing myself. But why on earth would I bother? I have nothing to prove to anyone. That's my minute or two to chill out, take a couple sips of my favourite beverage, or take a toke on my pipe. It also saves me from having to play the "where the hell is my landing pad?" game as I fly in through the slot. And it saves so much hassle for planetary landings when doing exobio runs or salvage missions. The supercruise assist, on the other hand.. it's not for me. All it does is ensure it'll take longer for me to get to my destination than if I fly manually on full throttle [and at 75% of course, when necessary]. (Although I am kind of curious to see how it copes [or fails to cope] with the new SCO FSDs, so I might experiment with that some time.) I also employ a slightly different strategy with module priorities too. Everything essential to getting home in a heavily crippled ship, goes to priority 1. Everything related to defensive measures, goes to priority 2. Everything related to offensive measures, goes to priority 3. All other nonessential items, get relegated to priority 4 or 5.

That’s an excellent system for managing your modules. It’s similar to what we are doing, but your system seems more straightforward. I completely understand your points on Supercruise Assist; it would be incredible if it didn’t increase the travel time; still, I appreciate its assistance. Long live the docking computer!

@@abelireviews - Where your system differs from mine (not by much, I noticed), you do make some good arguments as to why you do things the way you do. You've definitely given me some food for thought, for certain builds, at least.

@@abelireviews - I've been giving some thought to your module power management system and the reasoning behind it, and have reached some conclusions. For me, the big one was your decision to allow the FSD to be turned off when weapons are deployed, since "I don't need the FSD during combat." This struck me as a very interesting choice, with some real potential. On reflection, however, whilst I get where you're coming from with this, I think it's a mistake. Allow me to explain why. This choice is (inadvertently, to be sure) based on the unspoken assumption that you'll be victorious in combat. But that won't always be the case. Sometimes you're out-gunned, or just heavily outnumbered, and will need to quit the fight. And now, you potentially have a problem. Something you may not have realised, is that as your ship's power plant is damaged, its power output is progressively reduced. (This is, in fact, why the game gives you so many priority levels to choose from.) Output can easily fall to 40%, or even 20%, given enough damage. Further damage to the power plant may even cause your ship to explode, regardless of how much hull integrity remains. What this means is that there is the potential for *even more* modules to be shut down automatically during combat, as the damage your power plant takes increases. You may well reach the point where your only real option is to flee from battle. To get back into supercruise so you can lick your wounds. But now you have a problem. You don't have enough power available to fire up the FSD until you've shut some other modules down first. De-powering some modules and then re-powering others takes precious seconds. Seconds during which your attention is NOT on dodging incoming fire. This is the reason my system is set up the way it is. Offense is less important than defense. Defense is less important than being able to escape. So, even if combat damage is progressively shutting down my ship a bit at a time, the *most* important modules should always remain active and available for instant use. (For the record, I can't take credit for the system I use, nor the logic behind it.. it came from a post from another Commander, that I came across several years ago. I no longer recall if it was on Reddit or the Frontier Forums, nor who the author was. But his arguments made sense to me then, and still do. All my ships are set up this way.)

@Garryck-1 Dang! Coming out of nowhere with a very detailed and well-reasoned recommendation. I appreciate it!! You’re right, and I 100% will be updating my power management rankings. You convinced me. Thank you 🙏 Oh, and before I forget, I would love a link to your ship builds if you have time. Cheers!
