I hope that anyone who is currently in microdiscectomy post-op or about to start finds this video encouraging.
This video is long and a I ramble on a bit but it describes my overall feelings 4 weeks after surgery and some of the things I learned along the way.
I don't have any videos past this one as my recovery continued very quickly and I got back to normal life and put this pre-surgery hell behind me. To this day I believe getting the surgery was one of the best decisions I ever made.

Just hit 4 weeks. Wish my doctors told me more about the ups and downs and uneven recovery. The pain is different but there are some days where I'm paranoid that I re-herniated. Hope you're doing well bro!

I constantly feared I had re-herniated my back (the internet pain forums are a dangerous place) but I didn’t and my recovery started to really pick up after that 50-60 day mark. Hope you feel confident in your recovery soon!

@@benjohnson6971 Hey sorry for the late reply. Hopefully you are trending better. Best thing to do is keep moving. Walking is great. Just don’t get couch locked. Good luck. My experience was it takes time but one day you’ll care enough to make a video and then not long later you are feeling so much better you don’t actually lost said video for 6 years.

I’m in week 2 of my second microdiscectomy in 3 years. I’ve been experiencing pain in both legs (mostly alternating) and your video is the only one where you mention experiencing the same. Did the pain feel the same in both legs and was there a reason you had it in both? My understanding is that herniated discs only tend to affect one leg so am kinda worried. Thanks
@BroncoPH
@BroncoPH Год назад
Unsure why I experienced alternating pain but it was always one leg or the other. Never both. I’m trying to remember but the pain was generally the same. It definitely wasn’t a re-herniation but I had the same concerns as you thinking that maybe I had. I hope you are progressing well!

Fantastic but it took time. I would say 6 months to feeling like I could work out (like, push it) and once I started getting back into my normal life I started to forget about my back injury within a year. This many years later? I never even think about it. The first weeks, months really, can be so high and low. Stay the course! Getting the surgery was one of the best decisions I ever made.

How’s recovery going for you at this point?
@BroncoPH
@BroncoPH 2 года назад
I'm essentially back to normal. There are certain things, like sitting all day long, that will trigger some light sciatica but aside from that I consider myself fully recovered.

@@BroncoPH ahh soo , hope you are happy with microdiskektomy. How many years passed since your surgery.I had it 2 months ago, I feel well now but I have some numbness on my foot and some toes. Do you remember when it will pass? In which months? I m a teacher and stand most of the time. I started work after 2 months. Do you have any advice for me to not have reherniation. I really worry about it. Do you exercise after op? Doctor told me to do exercises at home and walk daily around 1 hour
