I actually just bought a 10m roll of latex and started making skirts from that as it's expensive to buy several skirts of varying length when you live in the US. Simple circle skirts are super easy to make, just take off 10% for your waist measurements to account for the latex stretching.

Completely agree on skater skirts! My black and smoky black ones are regulars in my shiny wardrobe! I'd also say deffo don't wear the bikini or any other latex in a pool! I was at a "party", and went into the hot tub wearing a brand new catsuit. The suit ripped later that night and was irreparable as the rubber chlorinated! You'd probably be okay with smaller bits like a bikini, but only if the risk was very worth it!
