With all due respect, they are the stalwarts of Indian music and have probably sat together countless times to explore, nurture and create the kind of magic, the things that you and I would not even imagine of knowing in our wildest dreams. What would someone like Him gain out of “claiming” something like this, especially when each of them already have countless compositions to their credit? If you have listened to both of their renditions of this bandish and the countless number of times they have presented it in ways which are out of this world, I think you wouldn’t feel the need to really figure out who the owner of the song is. Namaskaar 🙏🏻

@@saptarshichatterjee2034 Sorry. I beg to differ. The bandish and the notation both are very much present in Guruji Pt. Arun Bhaduri ‘s book which we all possess. “কথা সুর সৃষ্টি”। This is known to all classical vocalists. You can verify from any other source. I don’t want to say any thing more about this video which has been opposed publicly by many students of Pt.Arun Bhaduri. It is better you find out the truth. 🙏🏼

I agree with you Rishab Joshi 100 percent...heard it twice if the word is really Aurangzeb...I can't understand why this bandish is thought .. even if it is a part of history...it can be skipped..but teaching it to future generation is not acceptable..

I think ancient times Bandish was written to please Aurangazeb otherwise he was against music

A lot of late Dhrupad repertoire (during its transition to Mughal Court setting) and the older compositions in Khayal were written under royal patronage by the Emperors of the time. It went both ways - without this kind of patronage, a musician's life was hard to undergo, so, singing the praise of the patron is like thanking him for sustaining the musician; and, in a Court, having a musician raised an Emperor's status and valor, as he had someone to sing his praises (Tansen, though, sometimes makes fun of this hierarchy in his Dhrupads) . Personally, I would never sing a composition dedicated to Aurangzeb, but, this bandish sung here is probably the result of his arrogance. He demanded that a musician had two choices - either to give up music altogether, or use it to only sing his praises. There were some musicians who did not want to give up music, so (in a way) they 'surrendered' and got caught in Aurangzeb's web, writing his praise. That being said, musically, it is such a beautiful composition and Anubhab, as usual, has sung it so so well! But, if you look closely at the lyrics, the word choices seem forced, missing that familiar rhythmic poetry of Dhrupad compositions. This might be a glimpse into what it was like to write the bandish.

@@rishi_mahendranif they were forced to sing his praise then it implies they didn't wanted to do it themselves hence it can be changed to mahadev(or something else) instead of Aurangzeb logically 🤷 no need to praise that pathetic King anymore
