Wow! I can’t believe there’s more musicians out there with hearing loss! I’m a singer with 30% hearing loss in both ears and I haven’t come across any other musicians that have hearing loss even at district and state levels! He’s an absolute trooper and a role model to other musicians like myself that have hearing loss! Thank you for sharing his story!

Hi Mikayla! Thanks for your comment! We love coming across musicians and singers with hearing loss. It truly shows that hearing loss cannot stop your passions. You can read about other musicians with hearing loss here: www.hearinglikeme.com/category/entertainment/music/

I just want to thank you for this. I am 17 and also in band, I play the trumpet. It makes me glad to see and know I’m not alone with my hearing loss. In my school I am the only person with a hearing loss and it is hard to connect with the deaf community. I have always felt like I didn’t belong in both worlds because in the hearing world, I couldn’t hear, and in the deaf community, I have no connection. So thank you for helping me realize that there are others like me!

You’re a real champ! It seems you come from a wonderful family, and your parents have done a great job raising you. All the best

Good for you. I have pretty severe hearing loss, (1) because of my age and (2) because, in my teens I had a powerful guitar amp right behind my head three nights a week. We thought it was cool at the time :-) Although I'm now 74 years old, I still play in a blues and rock band here in France and I refuse to let my hearing loss spoil my fun doing that. My current Resound aids are about 6 years old now and need replacing (they give me problems every time I play a D!) so I'm really looking forward to collecting my new Phonak Audéo Marvel 90s from my audiologist in two weeks time. I've watched many videos on these aids, including all of yours and I'm quite excited about the new lease of life they'll give me, both personally, and as a musician. Thanks for your efforts making your videos; you're an inspiration to all young people. I wish you every success with your music.
