I’m currently separated from my boyfriend of 6 years while we take time to figure out if we will move forward together or separately. I’m 26 and am staying at my parents currently. I got laid off due to corona virus. So I’m really relating to your story right now. Thank you so much for being open and vulnerable. It’s been helpful to hear your story and your mindset now. Thanks for your story, I needed it. Honestly as someone who finally put a guy who took WAY too much of my time and energy out of my mind, it’s good to know that at almost 27 my life isn’t over and in fact I’ve still got a lot in front of me. I relate so much to the "losing yourself in a relationship and living someone else's dream" part ...

I remember my first heartbreak, had to move back to my parents. I was depressed, suicidal, was grieving him and our pregnancy that didn't work out. I literally wanted to die. I went to see a doctor and was on trazodone and prozac. I honestly don't think to this day if either really helped me. It honestly took me years to emotionally get my head and mind clear.. "You can't let someone else be responsible for your happiness." Truer words Kaitlyn, truer words have never been spoken. I really needed to hear this right now, and I definitely needed to hear - as well as believe it back then. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing. Really appreciate it more than you know.

I stumbled across this on Instagram and I’m so happy I watched. I’m 26, just had to move back home after moving to another country for my boyfriend of 5 years to pursue his career. I also just two weeks ago found out he’d been cheating on me the whole time, while calling me his wife/ telling me I was the love of his life etc. I’m shocked how similar your story is, maybe minus the cheating. I had a miserable time in the US and lost myself completely in an emotionally draining relationship and have been feeling like life as I know it ended when I broke up with him. I had the same do anything for love attitude and made some really poor choices lol. Thank you for sharing, honestly, it’s been tough and it’s nice to see there’s light at the end of the tunnel!!

This is the first time I’m hearing your story, I am a fan of the bachelor and although I haven’t seen your season I listen to your podcast and you seem like such a genuine person. I went through an emotionally abusive relationship for 3 and a half years and had to find myself again, we broke up 5 years ago now and I am definitely a new person. Although sometimes I still feel all the feelings (sadness, depression, loneliness) I am glad to be reminded it’s only temporary, sometimes you just need to hear that again and again! I'm currently 25 and feel like I haven't found my purpose yet and I should have because of my age but hearing you made me realize that it is okay and I will find that someday.

Hi Kaitlyn, I am a super big fan, I got tickets to your show in Minneapolis before covid-19 cancelled it. I remember watching you and tweeting you when you were on Chris Souls season, and tweeting you telling you that I was praying/rooting for you, and to ignore the haters because clearly they did not know your heart. I have listened to all of your podcast since. I think you are an incredible role model. I am still praying/rooting for you while I am living (most) of my best life as my job is essential and, I can work from home. The only thing I am missing is a hug from my queen. Not sure what I was expecting, but the honesty and realness in your story really touched me. I’ve never heard anyone talk about having that panic/out of body experience and I can highly relate. It’s really inspiring to me that you can look back on it now without having to re-live the trauma, but rather just examining that past experience and recognizing your growth since that time. My husband and I moved in with my parents to “save money” for a house I was 26 One event after another we never reached the timeline. Finally getting our feet on the ground, the world through us a ringer and my dad got very sick, 10 months in the hospital just getting out April 1 2020. We purchased their home, my childhood home, so they had a place to call home, we still all live together. Many days I think omg what am I doing but then many days thank god we have each other. They were there for us, now we need to be there for them I believe everything happens for a reason! Us Canadian girls have big hearts and we just keep on going!!

Thanks for sharing your story Kaitlyn. It somehow comforted me to know that even a girl like you didn't have it easy and had a difficult heartbreak (to say least) and it wasn't a straight arrow to a healthy partnership. Out of all my friends, one could have thought I would have been the first one to find a partner, but I'm now 31 years old and have been single for 8 years while all of my friends have gotten married, settled down, kids, etc.

I decided to grab this time of social isolation by the horns and use it to better myself and be a healthier, happier version of me! I have established an amazing routine full of healthy foods, healthy products, and great workouts! I started a FREAKING PODCAST with one of my best friends for crying out loud! Sure, the crappy days and the hard times to come but sticking to this routine has definitely helped me a lot! And now I have this channel to look forward to as well and that just makes me even happier!

I am in a long distance relationship with a guy from my home town but he lives in Vancouver for school. He came to visit me where I currently live (in nashville as well) and we had SUCH a good time. I was supposed to go to vancouver in april but I had to cancel my flight due to covid! He is a great guy and I even though it's not ideal right now, I'm hopeful for the future. Thank you for sharing your story. Sometimes love will sweep you away but it's all for a reason!

Kinda late to the party with this, but thank you for sharing this! June will be a tough month for me. My LDR boyfriend who lives in Uganda was going to finally visit me in the US for the first time (last time we saw each other was in December of last year), I had so many plans of what we'd do, him meeting my friends and family, and the week before he was set to have his visa appointment, COVID-19 hit and everything came to a halt. And now we have no idea when we'll see each other next and it's a very scary thing. Thankfully we've continued to love and support one another through this, but feelings of loneliness and emotional isolation abound and I'm not gonna lie, it's been really really tough. I appreciate your emotional vulnerability and allowing us to connect and relate to your story, I hope you and Jason stay safe and healthy!

You're so relatable :) I remember being in a similar position when I was 26 - moved back in with my parents to a SUUUPER small town that I'd spent my entire life saying I was going to leave, working in customer service (telling myself it was only temporary until I could get my career started, but truly had no options). I didn't know what I wanted to do, that felt like the worst part. It felt like everything I considered doing was like grasping at straws - "maybe I'll get into marketing", "maybe I'll work in sales", "maybe I'll start a blog and become a fashion blogger", "or maybe I'll be a writer" --- there was a time in life (as a teenager) when I felt so confident in my dreams and knowing what I wanted to do, and knowing that at 26, I was living with my mom and dad in that small town, a part of me felt like I'd already failed. Even though I was only 26. Now I'm 31 - living in Chicago (hundreds of miles away from that small town) with a successful career and my husband (we just got married last year!). You never know where life will take you, but I'm a firm believer that you always end up where you're supposed to! :)
