When a then eight year-old Amber Owen was taken on a holiday of a lifetime to Thailand back in 2004, she had no idea that she would be caught up in one of the deadliest natural disasters the world has ever known. Amber, now 20, joins Holly and Phillip to tell them about the incredible bond between her and the baby jumbo that saved her life.

Elephants hear with their feet - infrasound, they communicate by that. My guess is, that Ning Nong perceived the sound of the tsunami from the direction of the sea and was already alerted by the unusual withdrawal of the water. Being too young to have experienced something alike, it must have been an assumption by Ning Nong that some threat is coming in. Possibly it is in an elephant's instinct, an inherited trait due to the species living and surviving in this territory for hundreds of thousands of years.

you shouldn’t ever ride any elephant. they have to go through so much cruelty and abuse for anyone to be able to ride them. elephant riding and shows must be banned asap!

And the elephant that she rode was a baby. Where is the Mama elephant? The Mama elephants always are with their baby! Tourists need to educate themselves when it comes to animals!
