Because he is accustomed to that, his mother is an independent and controlling person, and he is an emotional, impractical person. Nope. She should have taught him when he was growing up. He's 38, she shouldn't still be raising him. When a child is reared by someone who is controlling, nagging, and distrustful, they tend to grow up overly cautious or completely useless. You have to let your children make mistakes and wrong decisions then instruct (NOT NAG or DEGRADE) them on how to improve and watch from afar as they continue. He displays apathy and lack of confidence, is clearly stunted emotionally, and has not matured as he should. Why does she keep moving in and out? Just move out and stay out and let him fall on his face a few times. He'll eventually figure things out. Why pre-empt him in cleaning and tell him to do it right without even giving him a chance to do it? Because she doesn't trust him to do it the way *she* would. 38 is way too old for someone to be this dependent on their parent(s). His decision-making skills are poor because she dominates and second-guesses him. If he's wrong, so be it. Let the chips fall where they may and he'll learn from them. He's an actor, at least he's in a business where he can play pretend because he has no life skills to speak of. And much of that is a result of poor parenting. Mom needs to cut the apron strings and let her son live his life the way he chooses. They'll both be happier. I think in some twisted way they both like the way things are or else they'd change it. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing but expecting different results.

Put him in situations where he can bear responsibility and leave him alone to do so, but monitor him from a distance and discover how he deals with this situation and do not show excessive love or you will bear responsibility for him or his mistakes. Make him feel that you are supportive but are not responsible for him or his decisions. He must try that and continue his life without your help. The issue is not It is easy, but not impossible.
