Casting consistently at over 200 yards, it was time to finally check out a long distance casting tournament.
The Primo Championship, held by the Carolina Surf Casters Association, is a 2-day event. I was only able to attend the first day's competition in Windsor, VA, but didn't embarrass myself terribly. With over a dozen casts, I only had one crack-off, one cast out-of-bounds, and one mis-cast that still flew about 180 yards. Everything else was on-target and between 200-206 yards.

It’s at the end of the video. Line was 50# mono shock leader and 0.28 mm main line, as per tournament regulations.

Thank you - my philosophy is getting technique near-perfect. Good distances will just happen. That’s where I’m at now. Once it’s in your muscle memory and it feels natural, more speed and power can be added with minimal loss of control and I hope to reach 250 yards in a few months in this way.

If you are referring to the “sinker drop”, almost down to my right hand for this type of cast. If you are asking how far these casts go, 185 metres on average.

What did you customize on your reel ?

It was an Omoto Chief 5000 with a mono-mag, speed bullet, light-weight tournament spool, ABEC-5 hybrid bearings, and one-piece cage.

@@TopLasagnaLover The spool is a prototype of some kind that was given to me by a dealer. A speed bullet is an extended brass bushing that fills in the gap when you remove the clicker cog and the spool friction associated with it. It essentially makes it so that the bearings are the ONLY point of contact between the spool and the rest of the reel.

@@TopLasagnaLover Well, the beauty of them, as you may know, is that all Akios parts and some Ambassadeur parts are interchangeable with those on the Omoto Chief series... so the easiest thing is to just study the schematics and look for those other brands' parts dealers. Are you in the U.S.?
