I also had an LVAD as a bridge to transplant. It truly is a love-hate relationship!! You look fabulous and I hope you get your heart soon so you can enjoy a nice hot shower again!!! ♥️
Mine is named Ping Pong. I have had mine a little over 3 years. My aortic valve is shut off too because it was replaced by a mechanical one a few years prior to the LVAD and it doesn’t work with the mechanical valve. Because I’m completely reliant on the LVAD, my heart is in poor shape, I can’t walk more than a few yards with out becoming very winded and having chest pain. I was in the army for about 13 years with a really bad leak on my aortic valve. The army missed it and I’m paying for it with all the damage that was done. Odds of a transplant is pretty much 0. I’m a big guy with a rare blood type. I met a small guy with O pos and he got a heart three weeks after his LVAD. I seen that you received a new heart, I’m happy for you. But if I had to do it again knowing what I know now, I would have passed on the LVAD.
thanks for posting this. good info to know especially the bad stuff too. my dad is waiting for transplant and considering lvad. how are you doing now? you are so adorable btw!
Thank you for your story I am going to babtis hospital in Oklahoma city I'm just now going over the ins and outs of the lvad and the heart transplant I am fixing to go for all my test to see witch one I am at this is scarry to me but hearing your story and others it helps calm me some . I am excercising and doing what I can before this takes place I hope I can wait until one comes available but that even scares me.thank you again and God Bless you.
No sir I do not. I had Gus for 4 and a half months before I received my transplant. If you have anymore questions I would be happy to answer them for you.
Ashley Paige I am glad you got your new heart . Do you notice any difference between you new and old heart ? Does your new heart pump different? Sorry for the dumb questions😊
I would say my new heart functions better than my original one because the amount of oxygenate blood pumping to my body is much better. So now I am able to bike, hike and run.
Ashley Paige im beginning to have major heart issues it’s great to hear that there’s hope. I will be praying for you to continue to have a beautiful healthy life God bless you.
I hope to come in contact with people who have an lvad and who got the transplant :) I got my new heart 13 July this year and had a Heartmate II in one and a half year :)
I am doing great! I was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy in 2009. Over the years my heart got worse that is why I received Gus. I have my donor's heart in me now. I had Gus for 4 and a half months. I hope that answers your question. If not, you can check out my blog at heart4ash@blogspot.com
