My Lyre Sings Only Of Love

This song is performed in ancient Greek on an instrument called the “barbitos”. It is of a unique family of ancient lyres that are flexible and able to play all the notes that you can play on a keyboard, as well as slides and vibrato.
If you want to know more about this kind of lyre, I made a RU-vid video explaining exactly how it works. Here is the link.

As a Greek proud of my heritage I am very fond of your effort to get inspired from the greek letters as well as other ancient texts. I may check the text but just from hearing it sounds accurate. As for the music it is known we cannot resurrect it except to the extent we study its prosody, but anyway I find these makings interesting and respectful enough to show to my music class pupils. Thank you, keep up beautifully

I am surprised that you did not choose to use the ancient greek pronounciation but the modern greek (or hellenistic, that is about 200-300 years later) instead, perhaps next time, there is plenty of writing in english about this, I guess you are aware

He doesn't pronounce the ancient Greek language correctly. Most of the words are pronounced wrong. Probably his Anglosaxon teachers in college tried to teach him the anglo-latin ish pronunciation of the ancient Greek language.
@sofiaanr6748
@sofiaanr6748 3 года назад
@@katerinapatiniotis5598 I cannot explain the fact that he doesn`t use the ancient greek pronounciation since I have heard the ancient greek pronounciation in music making solely by english/anglosaxon students/professor makings... that is why I was surprised. If you are aware of music reproduced in attic or other (correct) pronounciation of the ancient time, by anyone, I would be fond if you could send me
@AndyIli
@AndyIli 3 года назад
I'm not sure whether we know the pronunciation of every ancient greek dialect (although I'd imagine we know Ionic since we study a lot of Epic greek. Personally I'm only sure of how Attic was pronounced according to which the song is indeed wrong). What surprised me is that he decided to change verse while singing in the middle of what the written verse (if that makes sense) Nevertheless the song is beautiful the way it turned out
