Hey guys! In this video I discuss the topic of “have I always been an addict?” From a young age I can recall multiple things I was addicted to. I go through a list of different things so myself and others can better understand what led me to alcoholism.

I so can relate and I'm 57. I think it's great you have such an awareness at a young age. I laugh at how many things we can get addicted to. I think once you heal your body the mind will follow. Dr. Amen is really good. I luv your videos ❤

I had a big book in my living room on my end table and my friend was over and he saw that and told me that that book was satanic, I asked him if he's ever been to a recovery meeting, he told me that he didn't so I told him to shut up about things he doesn't know about, he didn't criticize my sobriety after that.

And as far as the comment “you are too young to be an alcoholic” yeah that doesn’t make any sense. You can be addicted at any age, it’s actually a positive you figured it out earlier in life rather than later. Take care and hope everyone has a nice day.

Hey Slayer, yeah I was heavy into pot in my 20s until it started causing anxiety. Then I went off to drinking alcohol which by far has been such a struggle to give up. I am a work in progress, we all are. I’m always striving to be a better version of myself. You’re on track…

It's crazy how I can relate to what you are saying in your videos. Being shy, having social anxiety, being unable to speak to your relatives without alcohol, the constant fear of death. My father died because of a drunk driver when I was 9 months old. I grew up living mostly with my grandparents when I was little. My grandfather was an alcoholic and was abusive towards my grandmother when he was drunk. I remember standing next to my grandma when he threatened her with a knife on night. I woke up from the noises. I must have been 6, 7, or 8 at that time. There were many instances like this growing up. In the end, I was there when he died of lung cancer. I was the one calling the ambulance and helping to carry the stretcher up the stairs and watching my grandmother cry. I developed my OCD around the same time. Counting numbers in a perfect order with the perfect pauses in between. I did that for hours until I fell asleep. Being afraid that my mother will also die when I won't be able to count perfectly. Now I have two kids, and I am still struggling with OCD and alcohol. I take a break for a couple of days or weeks, and then I start again. I drink only at night but I know that it's slowly but very surely becoming an issue. I am drinking right at this moment. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't write this. Anyway, that is like a 3% cut out of unpleasant things that I deal with from my past. It's not an excuse for the drinking, just an explanation. Thanks for your videos. They are seriously helping me. Not on the harder days but on the 50:50 days. Greetings from Germany

I’m glad they are helping brother, I’m also glad you can relate. I can relate to a lot of what you said in this comment as well. We all get to sobriety at our own time, you are starting to see it’s a problem and that’s the first step brother. I’m gonna send a prayer your way and I wish you nothing but the best on your journey with this. Keep me updated! 🙏

Any age can be an alcoholic. Maybe they are just trying to say you're too young to be doing that to yourself. You know like if someone dies at the age of 20 or any young age people say "He died way too soon. He was too young to die." So I wouldn't take it personal. Some people mean well when they say things but it may come off the wrong way. Especially through text. Some emotions don't come through text very well. That's why its nice to talk to people because you can hear their voice. Great vid by the way! Stay strong.

How embarrassingly accurate. After each point you brought up I was like: Oh no… He is ME! Exact same story, crazy family, exactly same addictions. Man, all I know is whenever a relapse happens, somewhere within all hosts of thoughts, there is a lie we still believe. The truth shall set us free, and if we ain’t free, there is a stronghold holding us back, a lie somewhere we keep telling ourselves. There is no comfort in video games, RU-vid, drugs, alcohol etc… But I still don’t know how to tackle being completely sober. (See, that last sentence is a lie, haha, I just lied omgosh) That’s how deceptive my mind is. The wild thing is we are set free. If we truly believe that, we should have the tools to overcome, because the Lord is with us in the storm. But I guess my priorities isn’t where it’s supposed to be. Keep making videos. I love them! Greetings from Scandinavia Norway.

Thanks slayer!! I noticed a common ground with addicts , that is depression and anxiety?? I guess I didn’t realize that before. Addiction can be to almost anything, drugs, alcohol, green as you say, or even food. We all need to try to be balanced… stay safe slayer thanks again for your video’s.
@Slayer-7373
@Slayer-7373 4 месяца назад
Absolutely, I’d say that’s the biggest factor in our drinking is depression and anxiety but yea you can get addicted to virtually anything. Balance is definitely key for some things and for others it does seem like abstinence is the best option. Thanks Jackie!!!

Porn is a big addiction in my life. Wasted countless hours and dollars for quick gratification. It hadls hindered my ability to form relationships and my ability to grow as a person. I've noticed many alcoholics are poly addicts or at the very least smokers. Mine was coke because when drunk, that seems like a good idea. Luckily, that only lasted a couple months because coke is WAY too expensive and I needed that money for booze. So being broke was kind of a blessing in disguise 😂

Another great video! I personally think there are so many things that can become addictions, but I also think some of them are way more preferrable to being addicted to substances. I've never tried longboarding myself, but it sounds like something really fun if I weren't the clumsiest mf on earth 😂 Also, amen to everything you said about weed! I was a heavy stoner for a long time and completely in denial about all the negative side effects, and only after quitting could I see the harm it caused both to me and my friends at the time...I can say I know people who have pretty much ruined their lives by buying into "it's just weed man".
@Slayer-7373
@Slayer-7373 5 месяцев назад
You should totally get one some time!! I’ve seen clumsy people get pretty decent at long boarding but it takes a lot of time haha and 100% about everything you said about weed, it’s crazy right? I don’t have anything against it but people need to be realistic. It’s not just some harmless plant. Thanks for your comment 🙏 always happy to see you in the comments:)

Wow this death thing is something, man. I somehow became aware of my mortality way too young and to this day sometimes I have a hard time falling asleep because of the intrusive "I will die one day". Im very afraid of death, terrified even. So terrified that sometimes I wish I was dead already, so I dont have to feel this dread. BTW - What games were you playing? I was a WoW nerd :) Good times were had, but man, sometimes I wish I had done anything other in my life than being imba pro

I can 100% relate on that man, it’s in my mind constantly. I’m glad at least someone can relate and I’m not alone. Also when I was heavy into games man It would be easier to say what I didn’t play 😂, but I still play wow to this day on a private server. It’s the only game I play anymore. I’ve just lost the desire and passion I use to have. But to name just a few World of Warcraft Skyrim Gta series Call of duty different ones Dante’s inferno Dark siders Overwatch Paladins God of war every single game Wolfenstein enemy territory Borderlands Don’t starve Halo 2 halo 3 halo reach. Call of duty zombies :) Super smash bros!!!! Mario kart!!!!! Mario party And so many more brother, I could sit here and type all day lol. Much love brotha! 💯

Hey brother! Kind of like I said in the video if cannabis is helping you and not ruining your life, who am I to tell someone not to smoke. It’s 100% the individuals choice, we are all on our own journeys and work our own programs. If marijuana is helping someone’s program cool 👍, if not maybe it’s time to put the cannabis down. I’ve said before cannabis can definitely be mentally addictive and I’ve seen it destroy peoples lives. Other people like joe Rogan for example uses it for his creativity and working on stuff. So again man it’s really about what works for you. Hope this helped thanks brother 🙏💯

A lot of people I know personally are on kratom, I’ve also gotten a lot of comments about people struggling with kratom. I think same as weed kratom can kind of be a trickster addiction in the fact that it seems like it’s harmless, but after time of using it day in day out all day long you start to feel those negatives. I’ve also heard the withdrawal is really bad. My heart goes out to you brother, I know a lot of people went to it for an opiate replacement and even tho it is less harmful than let’s say her-ion or fent it’s still highly addictive and dangerous when abused. There are some good RU-vidrs out there who have good tips for getting off the kratom, I wish you luck my friend!! Keep me updated 🙏
