Thank you so much for including Return to Edan in your reading plans for March, Petrik! I am grateful for your time, and I look forward to your thoughts. Also, my best to you for all the other reads -- I hope you have an awesome reading month!
Return to Edan was not just my favorite of The Edan Trilogy, it was my favorite read of 2023. Hope you love that one, and all of the rest of them, Petrik! Thanks for all you do for readers and for indie authors!
Ahhhh, I miss reading/watching Naruto so much. Seeing Merphy (and you) picking it up makes me want to dive into the series again. And reliving the Pain arc - ahhh
Finished all 6 books that are out of Dungeon Crawler Carl. You have to try it, you just have to. It’s so so good. My TBR is finishing Reaper’s Gale and Abbadon’s gate, probably starting Toll the Hounds and The Expanse book 3. Other than that, my TBR is wide open.
Dungeon Crawler Carl is another series I want to read ASAP. I own the entire series already. I'm waiting for the hardcover to arrive, though, before I begin. Toll the Hounds is one of my favorite books in Malazan. I hope you will enjoy it! Abaddon's Gate, though... good luck. Worse book in Expanse imo.
I just FINALLY started Mistborn The Final Empire today. I was a bit slow with finishing my books lately, I finished only 2 books since November....meanwhile, my TBR grew by 8 just this year. I'm trying to finish Mistborn 1-3 until the end of March.
Awesome.Good luck with that.Definetly recommend you to check Elantris and Warbreaker after that and than get into Stormlight Archive,Sanderson's best books :D
@@noname3609 Already read Elantris, The Hope of Elantris and The Emperor's Soul. Not sure when I'll start Stormlight Archive (I only have book 1 so far and I really wanna finish other books I already have first ^^), I might read some other book series in between but I will be reading The Eleventh Metal and Secret History right after Mistborn 3.
Greetings from Egypt, I just finished book 3 right now and the first thing I had to do is to come here and thank you for recommending this amazing series🙏❤. It is just so God damn good I wanna read it again already. In my opinion you're the best fantasy booktuber out there right now, I wish you the best of luck.
«Edan»! 🤩 My March TBR «Brother Red» by Adrian Selby (Grimdark Fantasy, standalone «midquel» to «Snakewood» & «The Winter Road», had plan to do it last year, but had to push it back) «Judas Blossom» by Stephen Aryan (Fantasy inspired by the Mongol Conquest of Persia, same as «Brother Red» a pushover from last year) I will also start on the «City of Victory» Trilogy by Adrian Goldsworthy (Historical Military Fiction set during Emperor Trajan’s Campaigns) and the «Lyonesse» Trilogy by Jack Vance ((Pre-)Arthurian Fantasy). My Spring TBR: «After Rome» by Morgan Llywelyn (Historial Fiction set after the Roman Empire’s Withdrawal from Britain) «Ash: A Secret History» by Mary Gentle (Alt-Historical Military Fiction inspired by the Mercenary Wars of the Renaissance) «Idoru» by William Gibson (Cyberpunk) «Kings of the Wyld» by Nicholas Eames (Fantasy Humor) Might also get my hands on «Memory, Sorrow & Thorn»,«Sun Eater» and/or the «Second Apocalypse» series by R. Scott Bakker this spring!
Sounds like an exciting March ahead of you, Petrik! Thanks for the video. My March TBR: 3 Fantasy Novels, all continuing within series - Deadhouse Gates by Steven Erikson, Book 2 in Malazan series - Knight's Shadow by Sebastien De Castell, Book 2 in Greatcoats series - Emily Wilde's Map of the Otherlands by Heather Fawcett, Book 2 in Emily Wilde series.
Im reading Witchwood Crown right now and it's fantastic. He does such a good job at the new characters and reminding you of previous events. Youre going to love it.
That's a great TBR! I really want to get into Ruocchio, but made up my mind to wait for all books to be out. Argyle's omnibus is just astounding and gorgeous! Is it too heavy? I'm always weary of that, though. I have Chase's on ebook, hoping to get to it after two more books! Happy reading, Petrik!
Thank you, Livia! Argyle's omnibus is heavy. More than 800 pages long, but for me, I always lay my hardcover on a surface before I read so it doesn't matter. 😅
Ooooh yes, I am so eager to hear your thoughts on Fangs of War. And that edition is stunning, you are so lucky to have that 🤩 Also hope you enjoy Stones of Light and The Tropic of Serpents, those are both such comfort faves for me. Happy reading, Petrik!
Thank you, Esmay! I heard great things about Fangs of War and Stone of Light. I'm surprisingly enjoying A Natural History of Dragons. About halfway through! :)
@@PetrikLeo Love to hear it! I am always nervous for people to read Lady Trent because I feel like the brilliant narration of the audiobooks adds so much to my experience, but I am glad that you are jiving well with it!!
Right!? I will be starting The Failures next week. Very excited about it. The Witchwood Crown will be after that. What do you think of Naruto? I've been making my way through it again. Nostalgia hits hard with every panel! :D
@@PetrikLeo well I’ve seen the animes already so I just wanted to say I read the manga in it’s entirety as well, and experience Kishimoto’s art. I followed the manga religiously from 2001-2013, what a time man. Waiting anxiously for the next chapter each week. So many fond memories. That being said, the flaws are ever apparent, especially the female character work. Could’ve been much better. Especially Sakura’s arc. But honestly I still love Naruto. I can’t bring myself not to.
Dang it. I already have to read The Sky on Fire for July. Now I have to read The Failures too. Always love your videos Petrik. I find them expensive, but worth it :D
I picked up the Threadlight trilogy, but I'm not sure how much of a priority I want to make it yet. I might wait to hear your review of the series My March TBR: 1. Howling Dark by Christopher Ruocchio 2. Blood Over Bright Haven by M.L. Wang 3. The Slain Divine by David Dalglish 4. Artificial Condition by Martha Wells 5. Cycle of the Werewolf by Stephen King
Howling Dark and Blood Over Bright Haven!? Talk about having superb TBR! I need to read Slain Divine. It's been a while since I read The Bladed Faith, though. 😅
The Failures sounds really interesting, will have to keep an eye out for your video, I think the next year's of audible tokens are already spoken for but I might be able to slip it in between more Shadows of the Apt. Glad you are enjoying Threadlight, the book is beautiful and the story is really good, I'm not sure which I like best because I listened to the Omnibus on audible so it was all just one big book. I've gotten back into Eurotruck Simulator recently and that game is great for listening to audiobooks so I'm also planning a full Stormlight, Kingkiller (in progress) and Greenbone listen.
Thank you! I'll let you know my thoughts on The Failures when I'm done with it. I, too, like you looking forward to doing a reread of Stormlight Archive and Green Bone Saga. Stormlight definitely this year, and maybe Kingkiller next year!
Awesome TBR Petrik, looks like a great reading month to come! I voted for it, so I'm looking forward to your thoughts on Fangs of War! And that Benjamin Liar book looks really interesting! I will try to join you on the Lady Trent journey this month 😊
Thank you!! I will start reading A Natural History of Dragons tomorrow. Let me know when you've started, too. And I'm excited to read Fangs of War after that! :)
Reat month 🙌🏼😍👀 I'm doing a library/bookstore theme along with all of the regular stuff. The Book That Wouldn't Burn, The Library of Mount Char, Piranesi, The Last Bookshop, The Midnight Library and a re-read of Hounded
I also love Naruto! Still have a lot of nostalgia for the Pre-Shippuden arcs. Hope the re-read continues to be fun! Next month for me so far will be Heir of Novron & Towers of Midnight.
I find it hard to put down. I'm already at volume 15 now haha. Heir of Novron is superb. I look forward to reading Towers of Midnight, but I have to read through Crossroads of Twilight first! :'D
Your plans for March are looking great. Except the requirement for my group marathon, a debut author ( I'll choose between A. A. Vora and Frances White), everything else will be mood reading. If I have enough brain power I'll read another Martha Wells.
Nice TBR, Petrik! I'm really interested in The Lady Trent Memoirs- can't wait to hear what you think. I'm planning on starting either the Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn trilogy or The Dandelion Dynasty in March. Not sure which yet... Let me know if you think I'll enjoy one more than the other!
Thank you, Tiffany! I strongly recommend Dandelion Dynasty first. The first book can be challenging, but the rest of the series is easier to read and absolutely incredible. Memory Sorrow Thorn is great, too, though! :)
I just finished Kingdoms Of Death, and I’m ruined!! So good! Going to read Ashes Of Man next, and then The Will Of The Many before Disquiet Gods comes out.
Yeahhh! Kingdoms of Death was brutal and harrowing. I finished Ashes of Man and it's another emotional read. Enjoy! The Will of the Many was my favorite fantasy book of 2023! 😁
I also might start Stones of Light. Just finished the first book and it felt very obvious it was a debut, but I still enjoyed it. I should also be reading Jade Legacy, Last Argument of Kings, Empire of the Damned, and maybe Empire of Silence.
I will probably read Kingdoms of Death, Ashes of Man, Malazan Gardens of the moon (for the first time), the invisible life of Addie Larue, and hopefully start either Jade City, The Fifth Season, or City of Last Chances. I’m leaving the last three up in the air because I’m not sure if I will have the time and I will probably choose one of them on a whim.
Have you heard of the book “Petition” by Delilah Waan? It’s a self-published Asian-inspired fantasy that just barely missed out on the finals of SPFBO this year. It seems so up your alley I’m surprised it’s not on your goodreads TBR.
It depends. For some series that hit with me deeper, I tend to have better memory of the events and details. I don't make notes other than highlighting quotes, but it will certainly be useful to note down events that happened in a book. 😄
About to read the prince of crowns after blitzing through the previous 3 books….brilliant series…..I’ve heard the ending is quite something….no idea what…..but looking forward to whatever it is.
Not Mistborn, but Stormlight are there, too. I'll say Chrys has a LOT of background similarity with Dalinar and the world-building terms are very similar. 😁
I got to read the ARC of Failures on Netgalley it was good definitely a different world and really great characters, I wanted to ask you a question about The Way of Edan, how is the pacing and action I have the first book on my shelf just haven't cracked it open yet,I'm reading Shadebound book 1 of The Last King Trilogy by David Estes and G.D. Penman first book I've read from either of these guys Sephora I'm pretty impressed good story good characters I'm definitely going to have to go back and check out some of David Estes work Especially the Faremarked series keep making these videos and I'll keep finding new books
Thank you! Wow, you've read The Failures already. Glad to hear you liked it. For The Way of Edan, it's definitely a slower read. There were some actions here and there but it's not the main focus of the book. The sequel, however, is incredibly action packed. Even too much, imo. 😅
@PetrikLeo yeah I'm cool with a slower Pace it doesn't have to be battles and fights every chapter I just don't like reading books that nothing happens for 100 Pages at a time..The Wheel of Time lol 🙃 sllllooowww
Dregs of Emprie is fire, and absolutely read Tales 3 before Disquiet Gods. I'd also recommend The Royal Game short story from Grimdark Magazine (I forget the issue number) before Tales 3, but that's just me. Naruto started out great, but there are so many problems with it: - The whole Fourth War arc is basically jumping the shark, and is largely terrible - Sasuke got off Scot free for being a traitorous piece of shit and should have died - As cool as Naruto's powerups were, he should have been made more versatile as the series progressed instead of just knowing 5 different Rasengan variants - Talk no Jutsu turning villains into allies got really really old
I will make sure to read Dregs of Empire and Tales 3 first. I finished Ashes of Man already and will have my review up next week! I'll try to find The Royal Game, too. As for Naruto, I understand the criticisms. I definitely agree, especially, on your first and second point. BIG SPOILERS FOR NARUTO . . . . . . Naruto Shippuden was, imo, amazing for MANY chapters. The Pain arc, Sasuke vs Itachi, and many more were superb. The plot twists on Itachi's motivation and actions remain some of my favorites. My BIGGEST issue, however, was introducing Kaguya and having Black Zetsu as this main manipulator in the final arc. It was god awful. Madara (such a badass character) and Obito should've been the final boss. Now with Kaguya introduced out of nowhere, they have this travesty spin-off name Boruto which is even worse. And yes, Sasuke should've been executed for everything that he did. I'm still excited about doing a reread now, though. It has been many years. :D
@@PetrikLeo completely agree and it's so odd from someone who is so good with males. I would like to tell Kishimoto "Ok, now do the same, but with a female version of that" lol oh and I forgot Sasori, one of my favorite villains. Also, Kabuto was quite fun to see in the start
Nope. I watched all episodes of Hunter x Hunter, though. I did read the continuation after the Hunter x Hunter anime (Chimera Ant is my favorite) in the Dark Island for a bit, but I stopped after, of course, it went toward hiatus.
@@PetrikLeo curious.. are you in the Philippines? I might be remembering that wrong. I'm in California, US. So when you post its like 6 am my time lol weekdays I get up 5am so that's usually why I'm quick to post haha
Oh absolutely. The fillers are crazy long. Too many of them. I actually liked watching many parts of pre-Shippuden, but the Shippuden one... I couldn't do it. Excluding fillers, the pacing was atrocious.
