I Play Forza too and one thing you have to try is playing with one of your Soundsystems, it makes it alot more realistic, plus some of the cars sound absolutely amazing with deep bass.. its a must try

Dry joints - Basically a broken solder joint - One not making contact is an open circuit - One making partial contact increases resistance - more resistance = more heat. Though I am doubtful that was the cause The position of the heat was from the transistor bank - The one in question is usually the SPA20N60C3 on that bank - It is a high voltage component so when it fries it fries!! They just fail sometimes and that is 99.99% what happened here. Never seen any fail due to cold joints myself... May appear that way after the failed component has cooled though as it usually gets hot enough to melt the solder and as it cools it causes a cold joint.

"Dry" or "cold" solder joints cause excessive resistance and increase amperage draw across a circuit. Usually, the draw will blow a fuse or burn a wire. Integrated modern PSU's don't really have fusing or circuit breakers, thus heat builds and builds. Luckily you only melted the case a bit. That would have been a fire.

The PS4 slim is a upgrade from the older PS4 with a bigger fan to cool down the PS4 while playing I had it for 2 years and hasn’t sound like a jet engine

Forza 4 is pretty fun, even better than it's free on xbox (minus the expansions)

I water cool these bad boys all day and you had your bottle placed on the cpu/ram area, in no way did the bottle have anything to do with the fire. On the other hand if solder joints get too hot or too old they will simply corrode in some cases.

Good you got that PSU fixed 👍 If you're still using the og thermal paste, and haven't cleaned the internals recently. That would cause more heat to be pushed out the back, and MAY have been a factor in the dry solder joints over time.
