After being diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in April 2023 I was prescribed methotexate to be taken weekly, 20mg dose. This is a video explaining my overall experience with methotrexate and the effects it had on my psoriatic arthritis.
As always if you have any thoughts or questions please leave in the comments
Peace and Love
Welcome to my channel Lifting out of the Lows where I share and document my experience with mental health, depression and bipolar cyclothymia and also psoriatic arthritis. I hope from sharing these videos and my experiences I'm able to help people along their own journey and make it somewhat easier (if that's possible) as I talk about things such as:
* How to stop feeling depressed
* My experience with mental health
* How to stop feeling anxious
* How to improve your mental health
* My journey through life
* How to take action
* How to be happier in life
* How to build a strong mind
* How to deal with the challenges life throws at you
I haven't got it all figured out, far from it. We're all on a journey that one never stops learning from but by creating these videos my aim is to help people and start more of a conversation around mental health. If you like the videos like, share and all the rest as the louder the message I'm sure the more people will benefit

Took my first dose of tablets last night. No side effects today. Keeping fingers crossed. I need it to work - now hobbling with a walking stick and one step at a time with difficulty on the stairs, just like you described. If I am back to it becoming at least invisible - would be a huge progress. I hope Humira would put you in remission.

Just stay positive and take it a day at a time. I’m sure with time it will ease up. Thanks for the comment and the humira comment. Going to keep documenting my journey

Elo. Was on MTX tablets came off because they knocked me sick. (No improvement) Been on Sulphsazine for over a year no side affects but no improvement maybe a bit worse. Now going to try MTX injections to see if that helps. Using creams for Psoriasis (which tends to get overlooked by medics) with little or no improvement. Will try this for a year an see how it goes. 63years but like you can put up with pain and will try and work as normal.

I was scared to take methotrexate, kept seeing vids on horrible side effects until I stumbled across ur RU-vid n yay finally took it I’ve gone from 4 hours sleep to about 12 hours sleep just extremely tired all the time, its does help with swelling but pain still there, hopefully as time goes on pain will start to bugger of lol

Hey mate, thanks for the video, just wondering if the MTX helped with your skin psoriasis? I’ve got psoriasis on my skin and I’m going to be going on MTX, wondering if it helped you much?

It didn’t help much, maybe 20%. If you look at my video shaving my head with scalp psoriasis that was after being on MTX for 5.5 months but please remember everyone is different

I had a couple small patches on my legs but they were really small. The size of a penny and in some other places but my scalp had it the worst by a long way

Do you able to bend your finger? How long it takes to recover motion? I have PA and can't bend pinky finger on my left hand, it really sucks. Im 33 years old((

How bad were your symptoms besides the fingers? What else was affected? I have been recently diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and my only symptoms is swelling in some of the fingers/wrist. I had a prior tear in my wrists yearrrrrrrs ago and now there is no cartilage there. otherwise pain is 1/10 but i dont notice and only hands are affected. Was recommended to start low dose methotrexate and was hesitant and took my first dose yesterday. Still debate if I should stop and just wait but don't want to be late either.

My symptoms were bad. I can take pain but it was getting unmanageable for me and as time went on more of my fingers starting swelling. I go into more details in some of my other videos especially ‘my psoriatic arthritis symptoms and their timeline’. Everyone is different but apparently it’s a progressive disease so it would get worse but I would say my pain was a 7/10. It was clear to see I was struggling with pain and I’m not a pussy. I couldn’t run, lift at the gym, even walking down the stairs was a real struggle

@@liftingoutofthelows1341 gotcha! I appreciate the response! Super helpful to be able to interact with someone who is going through similar issues. The only issues I've had so far are: - swollen fingers here and there - both joints of thumbs are degenerated quite a bit - i tore my wrists years ago but no cartilage left in one of them Otherwise, I have been lucky, if that's even possible? I was recommended to start low dose methotrexate which I did a few days ago and rifampin (i had a false positive TB test because of an injection) I havent had any side effects yet but was just hesitant to even start the medication(s). I am quite active in the gym both cardio and weights and didnt want to wait toooo long if it progressed and i wasnt able to even jog. Anyways just wanted to reach out and see how it was for you and how its going now Hopefully you're doing better! Continue making videos/content; they are helpful and quite thought out.

@@liftingoutofthelows1341 i appreciate the response! Its always nice to interact with ppl experiencing the same stuff as you! I watched that video after I posted my comment haha Yea my symptoms luckily have not progressed as bad. The extent for me is swollen fingers and knuckles. I had a wrist tear many years ago and there is no cartilage left. Otherwise no other pain or joints effected as of yet. But doctor wanted me to start on medication to prevent the progression. I was very hesitant but just didnt want to experience any other joints effected which would mess with my ability to run or lift. He started me on low dose methotrexate and rifampin (had a false positive tb test because of an past injection) So far after 1st dose, i have tolerated well knock on wood. I was just scared or hesitant taking any pills. But i also didnt want to wake up one day and have joints effected which would limit my activity levels. Appreciate you responding! Love the content and continue posting updates bro! Thanks!

I wish you well bro. It sounds like you got it diagnosed quickly which is a big plus. I used to be a bit against western meds and doing things naturally but honestly they’ve saved me so I would say listen to the Doctors on this occasion but always do your research. Stay well

The biggest thing I’ve had from taking this and I’ve been on it for 5 weeks is nausea. It’s horrible the day after. It’s like a hangover. I’ll be asking my rheumatologist to switch to injection. I’ve heard you get lesser symptoms with the injection.
@liftingoutofthelows1341
@liftingoutofthelows1341 8 месяцев назад
I guess because the nausea comes from swallowing it would make sense that by taking the injections you eliminate that possibility. I hope it works out well for you

Did it help you with psoriasis? I am on 8th week and I only see small improvements, I expected it would work faster at least for the skin

Methotrexate didn’t really do anything for my psoriasis. Maybe a 10-20 percentage improvement but nothing like the humira but everyone is different

I think we have similar type, severe psa, scalp psoriasis. 11weeks and mtx lowed all for about 60%, but nothing for scalp. No any side effect, I really started to love it but it didn’t put me in remission yet. Next step is I think biologics. Do you use humira with mtx as a combination? And how long you were on mtx? Is it worth to wait one more month after 3 passed..? Also, crp factor did mtx lowed it? For me it dropped from 35 to 11 Sorry too many questions 😅 Regards

I think the mind can have an impact on your physical body in ways we can’t understand but in this instance no I don’t believe so. There certainly isn’t anything scientifically proven linking the 2
